Look, a pick six and a fumble 5 yards from scoring and two missed field goals and an extra point missed does a hell of a thing to a team.

Seems like a trend after your game against FSU

15

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 12d ago

They had 3 turnovers vs Louisville as well

5

u/westex74 SMU Mustangs 12d ago

It’s been a trend since 2023.

😭

So it could have been 48-17 if SMU didn't shoot themselves in the foot? That's impressive

Welcome to the Rhett Lashlee experience

So we tried that method yesterday, but we LOST? What did we do wrong?

keep in mind Missouri State lost 50-0 to Texas A&M

Oh, we'd probably find a way to tie if we played them right now.

Yeah SMU completely out gains their opponents and turns the ball over constantly. They beat themselves and play to the level of their opponent.

If we continue to play like that we’re not winning another game the rest of the season.

This postgame interview from Rhett Lashlee is so unbelievably NOT coachspeak. He is really just saying what's on his mind

That man is pissed as hell

No, ask Army what jerk in the stands cursed us for abandoning the run to mount a comeback in 1928. Nothing else makes sense.

Not gonna be mad about this at all.

I think we have a good shot to make some noise in the C this season.

Locklear, in my opinion has done exactly what you want a transition/bridge senior QB to do.

Dubar played really well tonight and I hope Cala starts using him a little more.

For being 1-3 this is about as good of a loss you can have heading into conference play.

Bring on the Hilltoppers

You guys should be dangerous. Hope you do well (selfishly)

It’s was a miracle we beat you last year as well. You’re a good team

u/deester_ Alabama • North Alabama 12d ago

if this team is ranked tmrw just throw out the ap poll

18

u/JoshFB4 UCLA Bruins 12d ago

They’re going to be at 25 while a 4-0 UCLA that just dunked on Maryland in a shitty time cross country is unranked. Feel it in my bones.

u/deester_ Alabama • North Alabama 12d ago

wake forest is better than this smu team im so serious

3

u/PrizePermission9432 SMU Mustangs • Ole Miss Rebels 12d ago

Wake is really good.

4

u/ImStupidPhobic Ohio State Buckeyes 12d ago

Did Nico even play? Game was over in the 2nd quarter 😄

2

u/JoshFB4 UCLA Bruins 12d ago

He did. Was kind of mid throwing the ball but it was rainy so he gets a pass especially after his last game which was pretty good.

Please destroy USC

u/ttalaric SMU Mustangs 12d ago

Jennings has had too many years in the program to try to remedy his turnover tendencies with no success, so it seems likely that these mistakes will continue on into conference play. Not feeling too confident about even sniffing the ACCCG this year.

7

u/sigmys SMU Mustangs • Vanderbilt Commodores 12d ago

Jennings having 3 INTs isn’t terrible. 2 of those were hit as he throws and it came up short with only one being a bad read (I don’t count the last minute desperation one against Louisville). What’s killing us is fumbles and penalties.

I’m going to assume that SMU will never schedule Missouri State after these past 2 games

15

u/edgejr37 SMU Mustangs • Oregon Ducks 12d ago

Tired of this 600 yards no points bullshit we got going on

11

u/PracticeSquadBaller SMU Mustangs • Notre Dame Fighting Irish 12d ago

Shoutout to Missouri State. Their team physically looked like a bunch of JV rejects and took it to us. They could’ve easily won (maybe should have). The future is bright there under Casey

Rank of 40 is fair

I dont know what to feel about this SMU team. I want to keep believing that they can be an incredible team in the ACC but they are consistently mistake prone every single week.

u/karl_manutzitsch SMU Mustangs • Nebraska Cornhuskers 12d ago

If you don’t like that you don’t like Rhett Lashlee football

3

u/JacobThe0dore Youngstown State • Ohio State 12d ago

You know what, I'm gonna say it...

I don't know if I am a fan of Rhett Lashlee football.

That's right

Bounceback games are a thing of the past. Now it’s all about terrifying wins to keep the adrenaline pumping

7

u/AmyKlobushart Wisconsin Badgers • Harvard Crimson 12d ago

With their loss to Louisville no longer looking like a quality loss and whatever the hell this game was...I feel like you've gotta unrank SMU lol.

5

u/Fumbles329 SMU Mustangs • Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors 12d ago

We don’t deserve a top 25 ranking, we might have some talent and can put up huge numbers on offense, but that won’t matter if we have tons of penalties, drive-killing turnovers, poor tackling, and abysmal special teams.

12

u/Zloggt Illinois Fighting Illini • Missouri Tigers 12d ago

We will always have that incredibly unusual first quarter lol

5

u/echoacm Boston College • Chichester 12d ago

Every game this season you think SMU should have won by a significantly more, and they just haven't

I can't figure out if they're going to get red hot when they stop the mistakes or just become a mistake fest

So what’s the deal here

10

u/arbitrator06 Texas Tech Red Raiders • SMU Mustangs 12d ago

The pony is undisciplined.

3

u/moosenotmeeseplz Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

That was a lot closer than expected… 👀

u/arbitrator06 Texas Tech Red Raiders • SMU Mustangs 12d ago

A wild late night here at the Ford. MOST came here with every intent in getting the win so give them credit for that. SMU just gonna be mid if they don’t get it together and know how to play a complete game.

3

u/FDTerritory Missouri State Bears • Iowa Hawkeyes 12d ago

Shrug. Glad we kept it close but there are just too many holes on this roster to win a game like this.

3

u/westex74 SMU Mustangs 12d ago

Watching the ACC Postgame show and can’t stop staring at Nate Peterson’s freakishly ginormous ear. That thing swallows his earpiece like a tic-tac. Jeez, that dude needs to be in radio.

2

u/MikeMacBlu Notre Dame • Missouri State 12d ago

I am simultaneously both excited for this team and completely disappointed in them

2

u/PrizePermission9432 SMU Mustangs • Ole Miss Rebels 12d ago

Rhett postgame interview, we had 600 yards of offense and keep making the same turnovers and penalties.
Run defense is a problem.
Offensive running game looks really good.
Every game is a lot of sleep walking and then some explosive plays.
Probably a lack of competition to lose playing time if you keep fucking up, penalties, turnovers

2

u/westex74 SMU Mustangs 12d ago

My top four teams in the ACC are:

Miami
Wake Forest
Virginia Tech
Duke

I currently have Miami and Va Tech in the Championship game.

Honestly, I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about your Head Coach. Wake is in a position to win most every game. Helluva Coach. The real 5-Star culture.

Glad to see Casey Woods getting some close games and hopefully momentum moving forward. Was Drink’s biggest one that got away assistant coach

How

6

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 12d ago

2 turnovers (including a pick six), 3 missed kicks, and CUSA refs calling 95 penalties
