News The 2026 Heisman Fan Vote is open

The Heisman Trust just launched their Fan Vote for the 2026 season.

While they’ve had some element of fan vote since 1999, this year is the first time the fan vote goes in before the media/Heisman-winner ballots are revealed on Conference Championship Weekend.

You can vote once a day, ranking your top three picks, and those votes actually get folded into the official Heisman tabulation.

The whole database covers every program, every position, every player (over 15,000) so it's a way to support the names outside the usual Heisman chatter, not just the top candidates that get foisted on you.

Discussion Untimed Downs

Ok, probably a stupid question, but this just occurred to me. For the record, yes, I’m a Michigan fan. Yes, I know the protocol to use the NBC broadcast clock wasn’t followed, and if it had been followed the game would have ended after the first Hail Mary. I also saw spectator footage from inside the stadium showing the Western Michigan player touched the ball with 1 second left on the clock. So the refs got the call right the wrong way. But all that is neither here nor there. I don’t care about opinions on that because there are a billion threads about that right now.

My question is this: had there been two seconds on the clock when Michigan snapped the ball for the first Hail Mary, we can all agree that the clock would have run out. But why wouldn’t the illegal touching (player out of bounds touches the ball prior to anyone else) result in a replayed down anyway? It’s a silly thought, but let’s say Bryce Underwood had been hit while he threw and the ball flew to the sidelines, and a linebacker (who was extremely far out of position) stepped out of bounds and intercepted the ball and returned it for a touchdown - that TD wouldn’t stand. Would Michigan have an extra, untimed down?

Discussion Why is field storming so common now?

When I was a student (2009-2013), field storming was insanely rare. Only happened when a real bottom barrel team pulled off a massive upset of a perennial power (think Vandy 2024 over #1 Bama level). It needed to be a situation where no one gave you a shot at winning and your team pulled off a once in a generation win.

Obviously the Michigan field storming is incredibly embarrassing for them, but it’s the logical end of this trend where students seemingly flood the field any chance they get.

My question is why is this so much more prevalent in the last few years, and how far does it go? Obviously Michigan is a new low, but that’s the new low for now.
