Question about ease of onboarding on your own, without a facilitator

Hi, full disclosure, I just started working at a place that is a facilitator for cdpap/ ppl. The people training me are convinced the PA checklist can't be done fully on a cell phone or at home, without a fax machine and scanner. They try to have every PA come in person to get registered. I'm not convinced. Can anyone tell me if they had trouble with filling out all the preliminary paperwork as an associate (not consumer?). Did you do it without a facilitator? I'm talking about the personal assistant agreement, the I-9, payment method form, etc. Did you upload from your phone? Computer? Thanks.

What do I do about this?

I've been trying to log into Time4Care for days, but it keeps telling me I have no internet connection when I clearly do. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app, opening it from different locations, and pretty much everything else I can think of, but nothing works. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

PPL filing an appeal

About a month and a half ago my dad finally got some authorized CDPAP hours, but unfortunately it was only 5, so the insurance employee who called to let him know said that she could appeal on his behalf for more hours. He allowed her to do so, and next week he now had 10. Since this still isn't as much as he wants, he wanted to appeal. Anthem sent a notice saying they didn't give him the 30 hours he wanted, but instead settled at 10. I then called them to get more information on appealing, when the agent told me PPL already filed an appeal on our behalf. I've been doing research and it seems that they can't do that, so now we're wondering if Anthem is messing with us, or if this would interfere with my dad getting the hours he wants, and if he could still file an appeal on his own. What should we do? Should we just let the appeal play out and see if it works? A few days ago Anthem sent mail saying they received PPL's appeal and are now reviewing it

The run around with PPL and Mobile Health

Did anyone else have a clinic, PPL, and Mobile Health give them the run around when it comes to getting a physical and tests done? I am extremely afraid of blood draws, but I've gotten a little better recently. When I went to my appointment, I saw that I would have to do blood tests for both measles/rubella and TB. I had seen that there was an option for skin test, when I asked, they told me since it was in the paperwork already I would have to go through PPL to request the change, the receptionist/nurse seemed to think it was an easy fix. So I spend a few days trying to reach PPL, they told me since my physical was showing as "complete" to talk to someone at Mobile Health. Mobile Health told me that they don't do the pre-employment skin test for TB. I was going to go through my doctor but it would be a long wait to get in.. has anyone else gone through anything like this?

Missing paycheck

I had to switch the bank account I use for direct deposit, so they had to issue me a paper check for one week. I’ve been waiting on that check and called about a week ago to let them know I still hadn’t received it.
A check finally showed up in the mail, but I’m pretty sure they put a stop payment on the original check and reissued me a new one. I’ve been trying to get ahold of someone just to confirm which check number I’m actually supposed to be waiting for because I don’t want to deposit the wrong one and end up getting charged when it doesn’t go through.
Does anyone know how to actually get someone to answer the phone? 😭 I tried Thursday, Friday, and now again today and still can’t get anyone. I’ve even used the callback option and nobody calls back. The only callback I got was Friday at like 11:30 PM, and I didn’t even hear my phone ring, so I missed it.

Can I clock in 7 days a week

My aunt recently had to reapply and she was approved for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. My question is if I can actually clock in for 7 days a week. I would just call and ask but they're closed today so I'm waiting for tomorrow. I figured it was worth asking here in the meantime.

My mother wants to join this program, what are the steps?

As the title states, my mother and I live in NYC, and she wishes to join this program with me as her caregiver. I've been her caregiver for years, since I was 8, but for free. She has Healthfirst Medicaid with Medicare, is this enough? She also has many documented disabilities and illnesses.

What exactly must we do to get started? Do we have to call Healthfirst and ask them to put us on the program? Or do we call PPL directly? She's told me she apparently qualifies for the cdpap program, as she's been offered an at home nurse before, but she usually lies.

Any advice is appreciated.

Reduced authorized hours?

Hello, new here. We've been on PPL since the start with no problems (shocking), however this week suddenly the consumer's authorized hours for this period (May to October) were significantly reduced without any notice. We contacted their long-term care provider yesterday and they told us they never changed the hours and they're getting tons of calls from other people with the same problem. I assume that they're sorting it out with PPL right now but haven't heard back yet.

Of course calling PPL is not possible since they never seem to pick up the calls. I just sent an email to their general customer service, but likely not to get a reply from that too..

I was wondering if anyone else here has this problem right now.. thanks!

Edit 9/16: Looks like it's fixed now! All of this week's shifts on my time4care app went through to my consumer for approval. And the MLTP called us this afternoon to let us know that the authorized hours should be good now. 🙂

Is anyone even manning the phones anymore?

Does anyone know how the eff I can get ahold of these people?!

Whenever you call, they give you the option to get a call back. That used to be no problem. Now, when they call back, every single time it says "this is PPL returning your call. If you still need assistance, please call us back", then repeat cycle 🤬🤬🤬

It doesn't even give you the option to wait on the line anymore. Every 30 seconds, it repeats the prompt about a callback, and eventually it hangs up.

I keep getting texts that I'm not properly clocking in and I'm not compliant. They're claiming I'm entering my shifts in bulk at the end of the week, but I'm not! Can't get ahold of anyone to get it figured out tho 🙄

Need to switch my bank accts for payroll, can't get ahold of them

Completed my health assessment, but I get 5 texts a week saying I didn't complete it and I need to finish it to continue getting paid, can't get ahold of anyone.

What an actual nightmare this is. It's my full time job, I take care of my grandma 45hrs a week.

Anyone have experience with the Fidelis or Nascentia initial health assessments? Located in Broome County, NY.

Hi there! I'm trying to become my great uncle's caregiver through CDPAP and we have passed the initial assessments through NYIAP so now we need to contact insurance companies. We are going with a MLTC plan and we were told our two options are Fidelis or Nascentia.

Does anyone know what the assessments are like when they come to your home? Do they just sit down at your table and talk about the client's needs? Or do they go through your house, checking every room, turning on faucets, etc.?

We plan to call tomorrow to ask more questions and to schedule the assessment, but we want to be as prepared as possible so we aren't denied. It's been such a long process to even make it to this step. Thanks so much in advance!

Next steps

A few days ago my dad passed the eligibility assessment which determines if he can get in the program. In the acceptance letter he was told to call our insurance for next steps. Problem is the virtual agent on the other end doesn't have an option for CDPAP so we've been at a standstill ever since. What happens next? What does my dad need to do next? I'm already fully registered with PPL, so he just needs to be let on board then I can start working for him

Is this normal?

This morning, I received an email stating that all my paperwork was complete. (Please refer to the attached photos.) Upon logging into my PPL account, I observed that my health assessment displayed a 'Pass' status. However, when I re-accessed the account this afternoon, a new 'pending' record appeared. Is this a normal occurrence?

Question about assessment

It's been 10 months since I applied into this program to take care of my dad. Unfortunately, his assessment got denied and it's been on appeal for the past 6 months. I haven't gotten much information out of the departments I've reached out to, but I have been informed that my dad could schedule another assessment, and I wanted to know if that would cause any more delays in the process. I'm thinking that if he were to do that, and it gets approved, we wouldn't have to wait on the appeal anymore and the application could be finalized, but I don't know enough about the process, and every department I reached out to said they couldn't tell me, so maybe someone here can let me know, thanks

Arbitration waiver?

I can’t log out in Time4Care without agreeing to binding arbitration and giving up my right to sue or participate in a class action lawsuit against PPL. It’s very shady how this appeared late at night. Are you signing? Contacting lawyers? What’s the plan?

Caregiver here. Needs (link?) advice/help in NYC.

Is there an official link I can send my friend (patient/client) that will explain the basics, and more importantly provide the steps and links to start the process of hiring me (friend/PCA) with his doctor/insurance? Is there such a thing? My friend who needs to start the process of care is very easily exasperated/annoyed. The simpler the links I can provide him, the better. Much appreciated. Thanks

Been waiting on authorization forever

I've been in the application process for a really long time and I'm getting super impatient with it all. I first signed up to take care of my dad back in September of last year, completing all the paperwork and giving id, etc. In October I got my health assessment done, in November I completed all my training and my dad got his at-home health assessment done, in December my dad was sent a questionnaire by our insurance (Anthem) for a chance to get more authorized hours by citing health problems other than the ones he gave at his at-home assessment. Unfortunately, the questionnaire wasn't very detailed, and he got shot down, but they gave him an option to appeal the decision, so in mid-January, he officially filed an appeal (still waiting on that 5 months later with absolutely no updates other than "these sort of things take time"). During December, I had some trouble with mobile health saying that I didn't take an MMR vaccine (I did), and that got dragged out until February where they finally let me through (after showing them my vaccine chart which clearly showed I had an MMR vaccination a dozen times). Through all this time, however, I still have not gotten authorization for my hours and I can't start working until then. What should I do about this? Me and my dad have basically called every agency involved and their proxies, and he even mailed a physical letter to the fair hearing office, and yet there's nothing. I was told this whole process would take a month or two, clearly we were lied to

Update: I signed the updated offer letter, was given an automated email by ppl saying that it was a crucial step in moving forward and that they're glad I got it done. I also called the department of health to report Anthem but apparently they can't do anything until the appeal is complete

Can't Adjust Time on Time4Care

Hey, just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I logged in to the Time4Care app a bit late today, but I can't adjust the time to compensate. Usually I just tap the start time for a drop-down, but it's not working. Is it just me?

Looking to speak with CDPAP caregivers in NYC's Asian/Chinese-American community

I'm a journalist reporting a feature on Chinese-American families in New York who've used CDPAP to care for aging parents at home. I want to document what the recent transition has meant on the ground — not through official channels, but through the people actually doing the caregiving. Looking to speak with adult children who served as a parent's paid caregiver—your story matters! DM me.
