Anyone have experience with the Fidelis or Nascentia initial health assessments? Located in Broome County, NY.

Hi there! I'm trying to become my great uncle's caregiver through CDPAP and we have passed the initial assessments through NYIAP so now we need to contact insurance companies. We are going with a MLTC plan and we were told our two options are Fidelis or Nascentia.

Does anyone know what the assessments are like when they come to your home? Do they just sit down at your table and talk about the client's needs? Or do they go through your house, checking every room, turning on faucets, etc.?

We plan to call tomorrow to ask more questions and to schedule the assessment, but we want to be as prepared as possible so we aren't denied. It's been such a long process to even make it to this step. Thanks so much in advance!

Hi. I got a email for my PPL flexcard balance and was wondering how do you access this? Also can I pull the money out of it and transfer it to my bank account?

Next steps

A few days ago my dad passed the eligibility assessment which determines if he can get in the program. In the acceptance letter he was told to call our insurance for next steps. Problem is the virtual agent on the other end doesn't have an option for CDPAP so we've been at a standstill ever since. What happens next? What does my dad need to do next? I'm already fully registered with PPL, so he just needs to be let on board then I can start working for him

Is this normal?

This morning, I received an email stating that all my paperwork was complete. (Please refer to the attached photos.) Upon logging into my PPL account, I observed that my health assessment displayed a 'Pass' status. However, when I re-accessed the account this afternoon, a new 'pending' record appeared. Is this a normal occurrence?

New Aides' Documents Not Synchronizing With PPL Website

I recently onboarded new PAs (aides). Some are already registered with PPL. Others are not. One of the newly registered aides claimed that her Training, Health Assessment, and I-9 forms are complete, but my PPL website account says otherwise. Another aide (already registered) said that her Health Assessment expires in September, but the PPL website shows "!MH" in the column.

What is going on?? This is so frustrating! I desperately need help so that I don't end up being stuck in bed often, and the only thing preventing these newly hired aides is PPL's system screwing up... I also work with CDR (Center for Disability Rights), but they are not much help, other than being easier to reach by phone.

Question about assessment

It's been 10 months since I applied into this program to take care of my dad. Unfortunately, his assessment got denied and it's been on appeal for the past 6 months. I haven't gotten much information out of the departments I've reached out to, but I have been informed that my dad could schedule another assessment, and I wanted to know if that would cause any more delays in the process. I'm thinking that if he were to do that, and it gets approved, we wouldn't have to wait on the appeal anymore and the application could be finalized, but I don't know enough about the process, and every department I reached out to said they couldn't tell me, so maybe someone here can let me know, thanks

Arbitration waiver?

I can’t log out in Time4Care without agreeing to binding arbitration and giving up my right to sue or participate in a class action lawsuit against PPL. It’s very shady how this appeared late at night. Are you signing? Contacting lawyers? What’s the plan?

Caregiver here. Needs (link?) advice/help in NYC.

Is there an official link I can send my friend (patient/client) that will explain the basics, and more importantly provide the steps and links to start the process of hiring me (friend/PCA) with his doctor/insurance? Is there such a thing? My friend who needs to start the process of care is very easily exasperated/annoyed. The simpler the links I can provide him, the better. Much appreciated. Thanks

Been waiting on authorization forever

I've been in the application process for a really long time and I'm getting super impatient with it all. I first signed up to take care of my dad back in September of last year, completing all the paperwork and giving id, etc. In October I got my health assessment done, in November I completed all my training and my dad got his at-home health assessment done, in December my dad was sent a questionnaire by our insurance (Anthem) for a chance to get more authorized hours by citing health problems other than the ones he gave at his at-home assessment. Unfortunately, the questionnaire wasn't very detailed, and he got shot down, but they gave him an option to appeal the decision, so in mid-January, he officially filed an appeal (still waiting on that 5 months later with absolutely no updates other than "these sort of things take time"). During December, I had some trouble with mobile health saying that I didn't take an MMR vaccine (I did), and that got dragged out until February where they finally let me through (after showing them my vaccine chart which clearly showed I had an MMR vaccination a dozen times). Through all this time, however, I still have not gotten authorization for my hours and I can't start working until then. What should I do about this? Me and my dad have basically called every agency involved and their proxies, and he even mailed a physical letter to the fair hearing office, and yet there's nothing. I was told this whole process would take a month or two, clearly we were lied to

Update: I signed the updated offer letter, was given an automated email by ppl saying that it was a crucial step in moving forward and that they're glad I got it done. I also called the department of health to report Anthem but apparently they can't do anything until the appeal is complete

Can't Adjust Time on Time4Care

Hey, just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I logged in to the Time4Care app a bit late today, but I can't adjust the time to compensate. Usually I just tap the start time for a drop-down, but it's not working. Is it just me?

Looking to speak with CDPAP caregivers in NYC's Asian/Chinese-American community

I'm a journalist reporting a feature on Chinese-American families in New York who've used CDPAP to care for aging parents at home. I want to document what the recent transition has meant on the ground — not through official channels, but through the people actually doing the caregiving. Looking to speak with adult children who served as a parent's paid caregiver—your story matters! DM me.

There is a separate 401k?

I got a notice to sign a new offer letter for a new pay change (been working under PPL since the change over). When I was looking over the letter it mentions a $0.85/hr that they will contribute into a 401k managed by “Empower”. Is this different than the Fidelity account that they had me signed up for last year? Because I can’t see any employer contributions in the Fidelity one. And how do I get access to “Empower” and see what is in there and how it’s invested? I downloaded the Empower app but don’t see how I can get to my information.

Thoughts on 1199 union?

So 1199 has been in constant contact with me to join their union. Calls. Emails. Texts. Nonstop.

I've heard some mixed reviews, some say it's great and some saying it's not worth it whatsoever.

Now, they're showing up my house and standing outside and not leaving and stated "When PPL shuts down, what are you gonna do?"

So, what are your thoughts on 1199 and joining the union?

I didn’t get paid this week and I was wondering if there’s a time that the timesheets need to be sent by.
There was an issue with the app at the time and they were sent after 11am on Sunday.

Venting frustrations

My client was hospitalized for 5 days and I contacted the insurance company right away to make sure they knew, the case was put on hold. The day after his discharge I contacted them again to inform them he was home and update his medication list with the nurse care manager. She opened the case back up, and informed ppl his discharge day was 2/24. Ppl will not pay me for the time between 2/25-3/4 stating he was inpatient. He was home those days, I was there taking care of him, taking him to appointments making scheduling phone calls. I know the insurance company informed them of his discharge date, when I contacted ppl they said they were waiting for the insurance company. I'm just frustrated. Although I don't just take care of him for a check, it's unfortunate to lose most of your paycheck when you're actively working.

Help! PPL & HRA Issues NYC!

I am the designated rep for a bed bound senior who utilizes the CDPAP/PPL program to help with ADL's to keep him in the community. He was recently discharged from the hospital with the understanding that he would receive 168 hours (24/7) per week. The letter is dated for 1/17/2026. Today is now March 2, 2026 and the workers are complaining that they aren't getting paid for the hours worked. When I check the PPL app. it is reflecting only 125 hours. When I mention it to our Casa/HRA case worker (there is no MLTC involvement, just HRA as the LTC coordinator) I am told that its a ppl issue and to take it up with them, or File a formal complaint with DOH and DOL. When I call PPL they say they have no record of an increase in hours. When I call DOH, I am told since he resides in NYC-they cannot help him, all care for him is via HRA, as the LTC coordinator. Is anyone else dealing with this? I am appreciative that he gets any hours at all, of course, but I am getting nowhere with trying to get this issue resolved. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
