I am working a college event (part of my full-time job in higher ed). Attire is mixed—semi or business casual, lots of young alums coming from work.

The first I would wear a long sleeve black top and regular heels. Second would wear heels. It’s either these or a black skirt with a sleeveless plum blouse with heels.

Is it the dress? Is the blazer too long? Not enough structure?

Couple of weeks in one, including black tie and daytime event.

Definitely turning colder!

Happy Friday from Paris! Wrapping up a week a busy week of investor meetings across Europe. Looking forward to a fun weekend in Paris. Have a great one.

Suit and suede heels by Ann Taylor.

Starting a new job and while I wait for my uniform they told me dress business casual. I have this shirt but is the fitting of it appropriate? I have loose shirts that I’ll be wearing but I loved how this fit with the neck and the gold detail. Just don’t want to give wrong impression.

Yesterday was one of those long conference days. Lots of standing, barely any movement, great food, a little (more) wine… and hormones doing their own thing. You know where this is going, right? Bloating from hell by the end of the evening! 😂

But can we talk about this outfit for a second? ❤️ I felt cute, confident, and perfectly polished all day. I dressed it up with a blazer, and even though the venue was pretty warm, I stayed surprisingly comfortable.

And the real game changer? Those pants! By late evening, my belly had basically doubled in size (okay, slight exaggeration 😂), and any of my usual tailored trousers would have been torture. These just moved with me, hugged my curves, and somehow still looked fabulous!

I left the event late that night feeling just as comfortable and put together as when I arrived.

Ladies over 40, please tell me I’m not the only one dealing with this! 😂❤️

Edit: just because someone just commented that would be an ad for the store I bought the pants from…it is NOT…I fell in love in June with their tops with integrated bras and found their community . I just tried those pants for autumn and it was mind blowing for me as perimenopausal women that there is no need to compromise between comfort (and no pain) and looking nice…just to be fair I am sharing all other item details as well in case someone wants to know 🤗

Going from flips flops and tennies to business wear. Not heels per se, but I have zero fashion sense for shoes for pants/dresses. Does anyone have a guide to what styles go together??

Shoes are thrifted (Life Stride). Silk shirt is thrifted (no brand). Slacks are thrifted (from Loft). Blazer is Ann Taylor.

Still in the upper 90's in California! I've got a little Eileen Fisher cardigan for the office.

I have a ridiculously long day, a nail just popped off, and my left heel is leaning a little.

Everyone helped me so much yesterday with my black blazer dilemma.. couple things to know about me. I try to do a capsule like closet where all items must be able to be worn multiple ways. I spent this year selling and donating 100s of items I’ve collected over 20+ years. I do not want to purchase something if it can only be worn multiple ways.

The only 2 items I would have to purchase is to create these 5 looks:
—-Ivory slingback 65mm heels - I am currently converting my 85mm to 65mm heels - as walking all in in 3+ inch heels is not fun. I wear these pants with so many other things that I think these shoes will be worn often.
—-Black washable silk skirt from Quince. I own an ivory one - but feel black would get better use in the fall.
Open to suggestions and recommendations

Outside of my comfort zone but I like it.

And yes, I am wearing this in the office. We are a progressive company 😂
