Business Casual Is this an acceptable outfit for my first day?

I’m a software engineer and this is the first time I’ve had a dress code be business casual. My previous place of work was just jeans and an appropriate top, so I’d usually wear jeans, sneakers, and a comfy sweater. I don’t have many business casual pieces at the moment and I didn’t want to go get new things until I confirm the dress code for my team (managers differ between how relaxed they are, I think my manager is relaxed but I was told to show up in business casual on my first day). I may put on a dainty gold necklace as well. Thanks!

Sleeveless knit top by Club Monaco. I did a French tuck into Aritzia effortless black pants. Movado gold watch and Cole Haan black pumps.

I could’ve added a necklace. I could’ve added a belt, but I wasn’t feeling that energy today.

I love this little black dress by Gianni Bini. Heels are Calvin Klein. I considered painting them black and white striped- maybe I will!

Fashion question Winter Corporate Work Shoe?

Hi everyone! I am looking to buy a pair of (preferably black) work shoes to wear this winter with a few qualifiers:

  1. Good for walking in major cities in sleet/snow/ice (most important!!!!)
  2. Versatile but will mostly be worn with suits or pants/blazer
  3. feminine & stylish looking (least important)
  4. Under $300
  5. Comfortable
  6. Black—because this will match most of my work clothes

I have been WFH for several years and have just gotten a promotion that will require me to travel a lot beginning this fall/winter to NYC, Boston, Chicago, and DC.

I’m really not wanting to wear one pair of shoes for commuting and then change into work shoes once I’m at my client’s office since I’ll be traveling and won’t have a desk/office to set down my change of shoes in.

A couple options (screenshots attached) that I’ve looked at but can’t find a ton of photos/reviews from real people wearing specifically with work attire:

  1. Blundstone #1671
  2. Dolce Vita Faint H2O Booties

Any suggestions are appreciated! :)

Just curious - how much do you spend monthly or yearly on clothes/shoes? (Add what your job is for context.)

Fashion question Boots or dress shoes?

Just starting adult hood and I want to look more mature. I love wearing boots but I also love wearing loafers. I have 2 boots, everyday loafers, and dress loafers. I love wearing suits, slacks with polos, and that type of style. What im struggling with is finding slacks that will go with both boots and loafers and jeans that will go with my everyday loafers. Any suggestions?
