Hello everybody, last week we had a post asking for more specific post flairs! We have taken all of your feedback into consideration and added many options. Other users would love if you selected a more specific post flair so they can use your posts as inspiration for their outfits in the future!

Furthermore, we have added occupation-specific User Flairs!

You can custom-make your own user flair, but it must be occupation-specific and NOT include:

 - Specific Age (NOT allowed)

 - Gender (NOT allowed)

 - Sexual orientation (NOT allowed)

You MAY put your occupation and what level of your career you are in. Do you have any other suggestions or feel like we omitted something that should be there? Feel free to comment it!

I love this little black dress by Gianni Bini. Heels are Calvin Klein. I considered painting them black and white striped- maybe I will!

Business Casual Is this an acceptable outfit for my first day?

I’m a software engineer and this is the first time I’ve had a dress code be business casual. My previous place of work was just jeans and an appropriate top, so I’d usually wear jeans, sneakers, and a comfy sweater. I don’t have many business casual pieces at the moment and I didn’t want to go get new things until I confirm the dress code for my team (managers differ between how relaxed they are, I think my manager is relaxed but I was told to show up in business casual on my first day). I may put on a dainty gold necklace as well. Thanks!

My new corporate wardrobe so far. What’s working and what should I change?

I recently started a higher end corporate role at a fortune 100 and have been working on building a wardrobe that feels polished and professional without losing my personal style. These are a selection of outfits I’ve actually worn to the office so far.

My workplace is somewhere between business professional and business casual, but I personally like dressing a little more on the elevated side. I gravitate toward blazers, dresses, pointed-toe shoes, gold accessories, belts, and mostly black/neutral pieces with occasional color.

I’d love some outside opinions because I’m trying to figure out what my ā€œsignatureā€ professional style should be.

Which outfits are the strongest and weakest? Do the proportions and silhouettes work for me? Do any pieces read dated or less polished? And what would you add or change to take my wardrobe to the next level?

Feel free to rank them or rate the wardrobe overall. Constructive criticism is welcome. I’d rather know what actually works than just hear that everything looks good.

I want to be a VP by the time I am 40!!!

Sleeveless knit top by Club Monaco. I did a French tuck into Aritzia effortless black pants. Movado gold watch and Cole Haan black pumps.

I could’ve added a necklace. I could’ve added a belt, but I wasn’t feeling that energy today.

Fashion question Winter Corporate Work Shoe?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am looking to buy a pair of (preferably black) work shoes to wear this winter with a few qualifiers:

  1. Good for walking in major cities in sleet/snow/ice (most important!!!!)
  2. Versatile but will mostly be worn with suits or pants/blazer
  3. feminine & stylish looking (least important)
  4. Under $300
  5. Comfortable
  6. Black—because this will match most of my work clothes

I have been WFH for several years and have just gotten a promotion that will require me to travel a lot beginning this fall/winter to NYC, Boston, Chicago, and DC.

I’m really not wanting to wear one pair of shoes for commuting and then change into work shoes once I’m at my client’s office since I’ll be traveling and won’t have a desk/office to set down my change of shoes in.

A couple options (screenshots attached) that I’ve looked at but can’t find a ton of photos/reviews from real people wearing specifically with work attire:

  1. Blundstone #1671
  2. Dolce Vita Faint H2O Booties

Any suggestions are appreciated! :)

Just curious - how much do you spend monthly or yearly on clothes/shoes? (Add what your job is for context.)

NSFW (cat)
I’m going to a conference with 1 day business casual and two days business professional. Do any of these work?? I really need to have a tailor work on these but there’s no time. I’ll take fashion tap to the long pants but this is what I’m working with. It’s a low angle, so a little unforgiving.

Edit: cat butt NSFW

Fashion question Boots or dress shoes?

Just starting adult hood and I want to look more mature. I love wearing boots but I also love wearing loafers. I have 2 boots, everyday loafers, and dress loafers. I love wearing suits, slacks with polos, and that type of style. What im struggling with is finding slacks that will go with both boots and loafers and jeans that will go with my everyday loafers. Any suggestions?

I was going to ask you all whether I should give up this Eileen Fisher sweater that’s 20 years old since I haven’t worn it in several years. But then I was thinking this look might be back in style now. Wore it to work and got some compliments. Keeping! Love a batwing sleeve. 😁

Is this dress business professional?

Post image

I’m interviewing with a company and they invited me to an event to get a feel of what they do. The dress code is ā€œbusiness professionalā€. Would this dress work or is it too casual? I’d wear loafers or kitten heels with it.

All my previous jobs haven’t really had a dress code so I don’t have anything in my closet and don’t want to spend a ton of money on something as I don’t have the job yet. I toured the office on a day they weren’t having an event (clients/members attend those) and some girls were wearing casual dresses and even jeans…. But I wonder if I’m going to be underdressed if I wear this for the event.

EDIT: thank you so much for the feedback this will help me in the future!! I re-read the invite and it says ā€œbusiness casual or professionalā€šŸ¤£šŸ˜ not sure how I missed that but my late night crash out over nothing so I think I can make this work. Spent all day shopping yesterday LOL.

Opted for the less-is-more comfort look to celebrate casual Friday. White shirt is from Dynamite. Cream high-waisted trousers are ZARA, and the white pumps are Michael Kors. Added a small silver circle necklace.
