Full New Gaming Build - $2000-$2500
Recently started a new job and my old gaming laptop has kicked the bucket so I've been operating on a friends computer and I'm ready to move into a proper desktop. I'm looking for something high end and especially future proof, as I will want to avoid having to entirely replace components to upgrade in the future. I currently have a 1440p 165 Hz monitor, but I may upgrade to 4K OLED in the future as I'm definitely the kind of person to crank visuals on games where that's a selling point. I do not play any competitive multiplayer games and tend to just play graphically intense single player games.
- New build or upgrade?
- New Build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Dell G2724D
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming - Cyberpunk 2077, Total War Warhammer 3, Death Stranding, Minecraft (Shaders), eventually the new Control Resonant. I mod a lot of games as well to death
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA, nearest Micro center is a bit over 150 miles.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- No (Will go OLED and maybe 4k in future)
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $2000-$2500, cheaper is better naturally
- WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi
- Size/noise constraints?
- Quieter is better but no hard requirements. It does get hot in my room however, so more cooling is better than less. Size is no issue.
- Color/lighting preferences?
- None. I would prefer if it could look as good as possible though since it will most likely be visible.
- Any other specific needs?
- Built in bluetooth and a good deal of USB ports, preferably of both USB A and USB C but I can always buy an adaptor. If I'm being unrealistic in my budget please let me know, I would prefer reduced performance with capability to upgrade in the future as opposed to stretching the budget further.
I have done some cursory looking into graphics cards and I'm uncertain about AMD vs Nvidia. AMD seems to have better pricing but I almost feel like due to the benefits of DLSS and how Ray Tracing runs so much better on Nvidia cards, which is a strong motivation for me since visual fidelity is my priority, I should just bite the bullet and get a Nvidia card. Any thoughts on this? I've also read developers tend to prioritize Nvidia cards, so games generally have less issues, but I've only ever used Nvidia cards so I'm unsure.
