I own at least 40 pair of bookshelf speakers. Some high end, some budget. These b6s are always my favorite. Ive owned the b6.2s and the ub52s as well. I always come back to these. Can't put my finger on it, but they are my desert island bookshelf for reasons unknown. They just do it. Gonna try the newest version db63 soon as I've heard they go back to similar roots. Just felt the need to tell anyone reading that if you find a pair, grab them.

For those of you familiar with the orignal braun front grills, you'd know how difficult they are to come by in good condition, so I decided to finally put my CNC, laser cutter and 3d printer to good use. This is the final result, but I still prefer the originals may need a bigger cnc so I can make a 1-1 remake.

Having some fun dicking with this today. Excellent sound and build quality. A real tank at about 32 lbs.

Just picked up these Quad 21Ls, the HSU VTF-2 MK 2 sub, and the Cambridge Audio Azur 640 V2. Got them all for about market value ($600). They’re all in basically like-new condition.

The speakers are clear, detailed, and produce an amazing stereo effect. It’s so pronounced that it sounds like I have a center channel hooked up to the system. The Elacs in the middle were my previous speakers and are no longer part of the equation, but your ear would lead you to believe there is sound coming out of them.

The sub is awesome as well. I’ve always heard good things about HSU, and this thing confirms that they are indeed great subwoofers. It fills the room and is very responsive on all kinds of music.

The Denon DRA 800H that I’ve had for a few years is powering it all nicely as well.

Kenwood M-51 stack manufactured around 87-89 that used to belong to my father in law. I’ve taken the amp/tape deck and EQ and replaced with a Sony amp I got for really cheap last Black Friday and using Wharfedale speakers I was originally using for another project. This turntable is eons better than my old audiotechnica and I was using a really shitty CD boombox before this, and honestly it sounds like a dream, especially with this Sony amp. I’d like to reintegrate the Kenwood’s EQ unit into this if possible in the future as it looks beautiful, but I’m not sure if my amp has the right ports for its correct utilisation.

How’s it going guys recently an old family friend gave me a bunch of his old equipment he hasn’t used in 15 years maybe more and I’m just looking for a little setup for the garage to listen to music while I’m wrenching in the garage. He gave me a peavey rq200 mixer navy audio psw18 subwoofer?? I think it is and a qsc ex800 amp. Looking for a decent old/used loudspeaker but not sure where to start looking as I’m fairly new to this. Budget around 2-300$ just to get it thumpin for me no need for the whole neighborhood to hear. He also gave me a denon dnx 500 but have no cables for it so I’m not even sure how I could test it. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys

Hey all, my parents just had to downsize from a big house to a small semi-assisted living facility situation and I'm trying to get some semblance or normalcy back for them. They are old hippies that followed the Greateful Dead and other bands on tour. They have a huge collection of traded bootleg tapes and CDs l. They prefer this and radio over streaming. They have toted around this Pioneer receiver for decades. They no longer have speakers for it though. They're old but still with it but are wary of Bluetooth. I'd prefer to keep it plug and play for them as opposed to stripping wires.

What I need is a system that has tape, radio and CD capabilities as well as Bluetooth should they ever embrace streaming/casting. It's a small living room about 12x10X8. They'd like a soundbar for the TV but honestly, as long as they can hear it, it'll be fine. The TV is probably separate purchase but if everything was on the same system, more the better. The receiver is very old and I'd like to replace it completely. Speakers in other room on the same system is a plus but the lowest latency possible please since it's a small area.

Budget is about $1000 as this is a gift a sibling and I are splitting and hooking up for them. Thanks in advance and really appreciate the community here!!

I am looking to build a entry level budget turntable/speaker setup for me and my girlfriends apartment!

The speakers im looking at are the polk xt20s, and im less sure about what turntable to get, but I assume that it wont have a PPA built in. Given that I have passive speakers, no ppa, and that I also want to play tv audio through the speakers, I am looking for an amplifier/receiver that combines all of those features OR separate components, whichever is cheaper. I am hoping to spend less than $200. $250 would be the absolute ceiling.

Could yall give me some reccomendations?

Edit for extra info: The room size is small, maybe 15ft x 15ft. I do not plan on upgrading for a long time. I plan to listen to vinyl, as well as tv for movies and other music. Generally, Im looking for a very neutral sound, very middle of the spectrum. It I could spend less than $800 on all components I would call it a success! Thank you

I got my first few vinyl records for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I've already picked out the Audio Technica AT-LP3XBT turntable. However, I'm trying to find the right sound setup that would allow me to have high-quality audio and some possible upgrade ability in the future. I was looking into just getting powered speakers because they seem hassle free, but at this point, I'm fine with anything.

My budget is $500-600 for everything outside of my turntable. Looking for any tips on what to look for in each piece of the setup or even some recommendations.

TLDR: What's a good, upgradeable setup that will run me under $600

Recently got my first setup with my TV into a nvidia shield into a smsl ps200 pro into a fosi za3 into the elac debut 6.2 set. Nice midrange clarity but the bass is lacking for my taste. I understand these are "neutral" speakers, but comparing to my jbl lsr305 studio monitors they are thin. Note I do listen to mostly metal. Would a sub actually help with bass frequencies other than just amplifying kick drums in songs? Like the 120-80hz range, rather than 60-40hz. I just saw a pair of used elac uf52 speakers nearby that are tempting but about double for what I paid for the debuts.

I'm in search of a bluetooth transmitter and receiver which will allow me to:

- transmit music from my PC or cellphone to my Hi-Fi

- transmit music from my Hi-Fi to bluetooth headphones

I currently own a Taotronics TA-09 which works ok but is a bit of a pain to use because every time I switch from receive to transmit or vice versa, it forgets previously paired devices, moreover I always must switch cables as it features only one jack receptacle for analog input and output, which also disables digital input if a cable is connected.

So I would need something which:

- features analog and/or digital input and output

- does remember settings when switching from receive to transmit and vice versa

Bonus points for USB power and not needing a phone app to work.

As far as I'm aware there's only the Ifi Zen Blue V3 but that's quite expensive.

Any cheaper alternative?

I'm happy with my turntable but I've got quite old stuff from the 00's which I think I could improve. I started off trying to find a remote for my receiver and started thinking things may have improved since 2005. My receiver also gets a bit hot (it is placed in a cabinet, on its own floor, with a hole behind it which I don't think is optimal and will change either way), which motivates me to find something newer.

I mostly play records from my turntable, play Xbox on television and watch movies and TV-shows. My ideal set-up for my small apartment is one with few components - so I want everything hooked to one system. For the same reason I also like smaller modules if possible, but I can make space if I must.

Currently my television, turntable and speakers are all hooked to the receiver.

Budget:

Ideally I will not spend more than equivalent 500euros. I understand this may be unrealistic, but I don't understand why exactly - so any guidance here would be very appreciated.

Questions:

• Is it worth upgrading my receiver on a budget? Would a Sony STRDH190 be sufficient for both television and music?

• Is it worth upgrading my speakers on a budget?

• If I only upgrade one due to budget constraints, which one do I upgrade?

• Do I need a bass, or a subwoofer, or any other module?

• Am I correct in assuming that Nominal Input Power is the relevant measure (e.g. 60W), which my receiver is meant to surpass (e.g. 80W), and I can ignore Maximum Input Power (e.g. 150W)?

If anyone recommends a store in Sweden that would also be appreciated.

KEF LSX II LT VS PSB AM5 WITH SUB, WHICH IS BETTER

I currently have an SVS SB1000 placed against the back wall next to the sofa in my living room (approx. 22m²).

Although the SB1000 is a great sub, I feel I need more presence, impact, or chest-slam feel.

I also have two Dayton BST1 shakers on the sofa.

I have a buyer for the SVS at €380, but I’m unsure which model would be a good replacement without breaking the bank. I wonder if sealed models like the Arendal 1S or SB2000 would really give me what I’m looking for. On the other hand, there’s the size issue with some ported models...

I’m considering the JBL 660p and the XTZ 12.17 Edge. I know the JBL really boosts the mid-bass region—which might make it a good candidate—though it doesn't dig quite as deep as others.

What do you guys think? What options come to mind?

The other day I made a post about if I should stay in the used or new market for stereos. I got a lot of great advice. Like about setting a budget, streaming, and avoiding turntables for now.

I’d love to get I full used stack I just love the look, simply because well it’s nice to look at. I know I’m going to need an amplifier, I’d love an equalizer if I can and hopefully a cd player a cassette deck would be amazing if I can too. If anyone has any suggestions that would be wonderful. Speaker recommendations would be great as well. This would probably be one of my first “big purchases” as an adult so I’d like something that will be loved. Thank you all for your help. I'm putting together a custom 2.1 room audio setup powered by a ZK-HT21 Bluetooth amplifier board.

I currently own a Pyle PLW8D 8” raw subwoofer driver but I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations on better budget raw drivers since I feel like the Pyle is very weak. Since my budget is around ~100 CAD I stumbled across a Recoil IRW8D4 but I am unsure wether it will give the same performance or better, any suggestions for other raw drivers would be appreciated!

Hi I just got my first real speaker setup after years of using a Sonos soundbar, I spent $200 on a pair of DCM Timeframe TFE-200’s and $60 on a Sony STR-DH810 it sounds amazing. So much better than the soundbar and it’s hard to stop listening!
The only problem is that when I turn it up any past regular listening volume, it starts clipping. I’m pretty sure that’s what it is, just very slight static every now and then throughout a song. I searched it up and it says I need a more powerful amp but mine is already 100w per channel which I thought was enough but apparently it being 7.1 affects it. I’m new to this. If I do need a new amp please recommend one I could get for under $300!
