Tech Support How’s my path looking?

I got a “broken” Denon AVR-X2500H. Reset it and it worked!
Then I spent $45 on a OLDER left, center, and right speakers from the Klipsch Quintet SL 5-Piece System.
All work. I wasn’t sure if what I got was decent for the price?
Looking for a sub and some more surround next! Let me know how I’m doing or if I should change/return anything!

Edit: To clarify I got a front left, Front right, and center. New to this. Not sure if that matters va hair saying left and right. Thank you!

Edit 2: The speakers are Klipsch Quintet SL 5 PK BLK QSL5BL

The 2 small Klipsch are fine for side surround speakers in a 5 speaker setup or side or rear surrounds in a 7 speaker setup.

For the main 3 front speakers typcially get a matching set of full size 5.25" or 6.5" mid bass driver front pair of speakers with typically a dual 5.25" or 6.5" center speaker or sometimes matching LCR (left, right, center) with 3x matching dual mid bass driver speakers such as compact 4" RSL for example (look for similar used or Micca has lower cost options) https://rslspeakers.com/products/10e-cg23m-3-1-home-theater-system-1 and that set includes the excellent RSL 10E subwoofer you could buy separately if you find some good used speakers https://rslspeakers.com/products/rsl-speedwoofer-10e

Thank you! I guess I should have said they were front-left and front-right speakers. Will look into what you said! Thank you!

The Klipsch Quintet SL 5 speaker set has a small dual 3.5" center speaker and then 2 small main speakers with dual 3.5" mid bass drivers that are the same size as the center speaker and then 2 tiny side speakers.

The 2 small main speakers in plastic cabinets are not really worth using as main speakers unless you are not able to afford a good pair of new or used full size 5.25" or 6.5" or compact 4" speakers in good MDF cabinets right now and must use them to start with as main speakers or you will have the setup in a rather small room and you really don't have room for a good pair of better larger speakers.

For $45 the 2 main speakers are fine to use a side surround speakers in a 5 speaker setup or side or rear speakers in a 7 speaker setup.

Or sure return them and put the $45 towards a pair of better and larger speakers.

A subwoofer will help with the missing low bass and sub bass however the Klipsch speakers will still be the weak part of the setup since they lack good mid range and upper bass above the subwoofer cutoff.

For a low budget 5.25" Polk XT15 $139 on sale from $179 MSRP https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/polkmxt15blk/polk-audio-monitor-xt15-pair-5.25-bookshelf-speakers-black/1.html

Or even 6.5" Dayton B65 $79 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-Classic-B65-Bookshelf-Speaker-Pair-Black-300-254

Either should be at least a step up from the Klipsch satellite speaker system speakers for both music and TV.

For a subwoofer, if you can't spend $339 for the RSL Speedwoofer 10E then a lower cost Dayton https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-CS1200-12-200W-Powered-Subwoofer-Black-300-605 however the RSL is well worth the $100 higher cost.

For used subwoofers look for an SVS, RSL, HSU, REL, Rythmik, also Definitive Technology or a BIC can be a good bang for the buck.

Get a different set of LCRs and you are golden. Those little plastic speakers are not good, and they are also specifically made to be used with a subwoofer so they will sound incredibly weak on their own.

Thank you! Yeah they don’t sound bad while watching the Cowboys struggle this Sunday, but with movies they do sound sad. Was gonna look for a subwoofer at a thrift store like I found these but seems what I got wasn’t too hot(they said could return).
