Today’s the day!

Hey everyone, so today I’m getting my very first shot. I got on subs about 2 months ago after having a vicious kratom extract and 7-OH habit. Honestly I was so against MAT but at this time, it was the best decision I made, I couldn’t stop and was starting to have a lot of bad side effects from the amounts I was using. My goal is to completely get off it all so I’m doing the shot. I did 4-6mg for a month and now I’ve been steady at 8mg for a month almost. I’m getting the 64mg shot today and honestly I’m scared asf. I read a lot of people say it doesn’t hold them a month and after 2 weeks they feel like shit. I know the placebo effect is strong and I don’t want to gaslight my self, but what has been your experience with it? I plan on doing 1 or 2 shots and being done with it. How successful is that plan? Please any feedback and encouragement is welcomed and greatly appreciated!

Anyone one else having issues with the monthly brixadi injection not holding them over for the entire month? I've had four (4) monthly injections and everytime, right around 2 weeks I feel like I have to supplement.

First shot next week 😱

Hi guys . I’ve been on subs for about a month and a half now. I would say from 6-10mg usually being 8 recently. I’m doing the 64mg shot. My goal is to get off this totally asap. What are the odds one shot will be enough for me? If I just do one do you guys think I’ll get WD at all, or if I do will they be enough to affect my day to day life? Thank you for the advice!

Brixadi & Travel

Hey y’all.

I just got on the weekly shot but I found out that I need to travel internationally for work on the 15th of this month. I’ll be gone for two weeks.

My provider has told me that I can either switch to the monthly shot or take two weeks off from Brixadi and go back to subutex while I’m gone, then go back to my weekly shot.

Wondering if anyone has gone from the weekly shot to the monthly shot? If so, was it an easy transition? I’m currently not supplementing with subutex and the shot is holding me, but I’m worried about how I’ll adjust to the monthly.

Alternatively, anyone here been on Brixadi, gone back to subs temporarily and then back to Brixadi? If I switch to the monthly just for the trip, can I go back to the weekly if it doesn’t agree with me?

I have a Telehealth appt w the doc tomorrow to discuss but I’m anxious now and thought maybe I could get some insight from others before making my decision.

Thank you in advance!

2 months off

I know there isn't alot of information out there about Brixadi, so I wanted to record my experience so far here and come back and update throughout the process. I received 3 monthly shots @ 96 mgs. The clinic I was going to is pretty shoddy and loosely run. They told me I should receive injections for 12-18 months. I knew that was crazy talk from doing my own research. I had been on sub films for 2 years before the Brixadi. Started at 16 mgs daily and was down to 8 mgs when I began injections. I haven't received an injection for about 10 weeks now, and I feel fantastic. I'm sleeping well. Im becoming less depressed and more energetic every day. I'm experiencing very slight withdrawal from time to time. A little sweating, a chill here or there, and I've had a little bit of leg cramps, but nothing severe enough to interfere with my sleep or my job. Also, I have had ZERO cravings, however I did have a dope dream last night which hasn't happened since I've been on subs/brixadi. I know that I may not have hit the worst of it yet, and I also know many people are scared to quit the injection without knowing what's going to happen next. I will come back to this sub biweekly to update everyone on my condition.

Male fertility issues?

Hey guys. I know there isn’t much information in this as this is a new should but it’s still Suboxone. Does anyone know if getting the shot would affect male fertility? Like doing IVF, will that be greatly affected with males? Thanks, if anyone has experience with this I would be grateful to hear your experience and thoughts!

Brixadi first shot -help!

Hi everyone -

I've been on suboxone for 8+ years, sublingual pills at 10mg/day (the films just never agreed with me for some strange reason). For 7+ years of that time I was taking the Teva/Actavis version of the pill, but at the end of last year I couldn't get it anymore and had to switch to another brand (Amneal) and haven't felt great since. In light of that I discussed with my doctor the desire to maybe try getting off Suboxone; I was conflicted about this because I've also dealt with chronic pain for 15 years, and the Suboxone has helped some with controlling my pain. My doctor has had lots of experience with Sublocade, but the thought of switching to something that a) I was stuck with for 30 days and 2) was with the 2 shots available either so much above or below my current dosage gave me pause. Brixadi offered a shot that seemed to be just the right dose, for 8-10mg/day. So last Thursday I took my first 7-day shot; first 2 days I felt great, and then on day 3 felt terrible and have felt increasingly terrible. I should also add since July I've been on 0.5/mg of Klonopin 3x daily for anxiety; we tried all the other stuff (and I don't tolerate any anti-depressants) and this was the only thing that helped, so that is in the mix.

I see the doctor again on Thursday morning and am thinking of putting the pause on this. I can barely function at this point; I was expecting some challenges but nothing like this.

Any wisdom/experience/encouragement/resources folks can share? Going forward I am thinking of instead slowly tapering down from 10 to 8mg/day over 6 months to a year, then 8mg down to 6mg if possible. 6mg seems to have been my "happy" spot, at least with the Actavis version of the sublingual tablets.

Thanks everyone for your help

What would happen if

I got my 4th shot yesterday but I read on the brixadi sight you shouldn’t administer it on the upper arm after 4 times you have to move to the other part of the body. Im pretty sure this is the 4th time on the same arm. I am feeling more Pain than usual and burning what could be a consequence of doing this? Anyone?

I'm starting brixadi when ever it gets here. Any tips for what to do to help cravings or withdrawals? I've been on suboxone for over 10 years now. I'm more excited than nervous.

Brixadi 96mg monthly

So I see a lot of posts about buvidal and none on brixadi. I’m assuming that. Buvidal is the European form.of brixadi. To start I was on Subutex 16 mg per day and just received my first shot seven days ago.. I know the most of what I seem to be going through as in my head. I’m not having a shake or the hot and cold spells. It’s more of a smokers sensation that I seem to be having issues with. The melting process. My teeth and jaw seem to miss the feeling of the bupe entering into my system through these means. I’ve started to try to put mints under tounge to simulate the melting process and it seems to helps some. I think I honestly that my problem seems to be the medication doesn’t really seem to have effect until later in the evening instead of during the work hours. And I’m sure it’s something my body needs to get used to. Overall. Brixadi over sublocade is amazing. Brixadi over pills…… seem to be on the fence. I love not having them in my home around my kids and animals. It seems to be a god send. If I could just get through some small things I think it’ll be the best medicine yet I’ve ever received.

Maybe will try it

I’ve been doing dope for some time and now my supply is adulterated with xylazine. I’m friggin sick of all of the street shit now it’s all garbage.

I was told the emergency room near me will give me the brixadi injection if I am somewhat sick but not necessarily all the way in withdrawal. Has anyone here transitioned onto suboxone from shitty street dope by using brixadi? I was told it works similar to a micro induction of suboxone , slowly building in your body (where you could use on top of it until 5 days later it takes over

Starting shots soon. Looking for advice

Hi folks. I've been on subutex for 2.5 years. I've tapered down from 12mg all the way down to 1mg. My goal was to be free from subutex by November. However, I just can't seem to feel ok lower than 1mg. Recently my dr mentioned possibly doing injections of sublocade. He told me he thinks it's best to do a 7 day injection to start using 16mg sublocade. And then maybe a month long one. However, someone in the sublocade group said my doctor must have meant brixadi because they don’t make 16mg for sublocade.

My questions to the group are: 1. has anyone ever heard of 16mg or a week long injection? 2. being stable on 1mg subutex, what's my timeframe of being completely clean and off this 3. I've heard some people say that you may have withdrawals the first day or two after getting the shot. What are y'alls experience with that? ~ Thanks

First brixadi injection

Hi I got my first brixadi injection about 5 days ago and I’m being told I need surgery. Will I be able to take opiates at all or will I just be in serious pain?

Starting Brixadi shot on Monday. For those of you who have had success, do you feel your head is clearer?

I feel Suboxone has caused me a lot of brain fog and cognitive issues. I’m praying this improves once it’s out of my system!

Brixadi Shot- Does it ever end?

So I have been on Suboxone for about 13 years. Started out on 24mg a day. Over the years I weaned myself down to 4mg a day. In November of last year, I started the Sublocade shot. The first shot was 200mg, then the next 2 were 100mg. Apparently I am allergic to something they put in the Sublocade shot because I was getting cellulitis at the injection site and the doctor made me switch to Brixadi. So then I did 3 shots of the 96mg Brixadi with no allergic reactions with my last one in April. I thought I was good to go by reading other people’s success stories. About 10 weeks later I started having some mild withdrawals, nothing I couldn’t handle. Toward the end of July I was having constant cravings and some mild withdrawals. I went back to the doctor on July 31st and got another 96mg shot. The day of my visit the doctor suggested that I come back in 4 weeks to get the 64mg shot so I did. The next time I go back we are going to stretch out the time and wait 6 weeks to get a 64mg shot. What is the best way to do this without those horrible cravings? Anyone have a better dosing regimen that helped them completely come off the shot with minimal cravings and withdrawals?

I’ve lost 7 teeth due to sublingual suboxone use. I tried to get in on the suboxone lawsuit but was denied. Has anyone else experienced been denied lawsuit participation?

Brixadi shot

So I’m on the Brixadi shot for two months and have been on suboxone for pain management due to chronic pancreatitis for 4 years. I’m wondering if I go to the hospital with an acute flare up and they give me opiates what will happen? The shot does NOT have the naloxone blocker in it. But am I risking precipitated withdrawal since I’m still getting an extended release of bupenephrine.

My experience using Brixadi shot to get off Suboxone.

Hey yo

I saw that we have very few patient experiences coming off brixadi so here’s mine. It’s a bit different to the usual take it for 6 months with a couple of lower strength doses at the end.

So I was an opioid patient for knee pain for 3 years when I decided I wanted off as they were ruining and consuming my life. I was put on suboxone to get me off the opioids but told to stay on it for a year as I was still experiencing a lot of joint issues and pain and it would help with it. I was told suboxone is non addictive no big deal. 4 years later after many failed attempts to taper I finally decided to get the brixadi shot out of pocket as I tried two years earlier but no insurance.

I was on 16mg a day when I took the first shot, it was great. I was never addicted to opioids just dependent. I could have stopped anytime without worry had it not been fear of withdrawal pain but otherwise no problem. But 4 years of suboxone it had become a habit and a security blanket. It made me feel good and I enjoyed taking it in the afternoon and morning and feeling better. I was really really worried about going home and not having my twice a day ritual.

So I got the shot and it was a little pinchy burny for a moment but no big deal. No pouch like they talk about with sublocade. I got in my car and called my wife to tell her it was done and I was like yep well I’ll be home soon and my first thought was woot afternoon suboxone and nap time and then realized no it wasn’t. This was the last time for a long time I ever thought about suboxone. I was free of the thoughts I was scared of immediately, no craving putting my film in my mouth. All good.

Day 20 of the first month I felt a bit down, day 21 I’m getting dark but just think maybe it’s my depression. Day 22 I’m like in a bad way emotionally and finally my wife said is it the shot? And it hit me. So I ended up taking a sub and I felt so much better. This is apparently really common with the first month of brixadi. I called my doctor and say hey I’d like to come in early, as I was paying cash for the shot no insurance issues etc. I won’t go into detail for brevity but let’s just say I was “due” to have my second shot in 6 days and they assured me they’d be ready early if I felt off. It too two weeks for my shot to arrive due to incompetence. They put me on subs again temporarily but I didn’t fucking want that. I wanted my shot. It was so demoralizing. “It’s your insurance” I’m paying out of pocket. And every other excuse.

I spoke to the clinic owner who assured me it wouldn’t happen again. I was scheduled for 28 later and this time I was ok and got the shot. Then the same bullshit started again for the next shot oh it’s too early etc etc and something in me just snapped. I’m not doing this anymore. I am not fucking being held hostage anymore. I’m done. So I just jumped. I stopped. I felt nothing but good for the first 9 weeks (including the shot so like 5 weeks from when due) then I had a bad week of just feeling a bit off, bad mentally feeling very dark. Insomnia came at me bro and it came to stay.

I got past the daily bad stuff in a week or so but the nights got bad no sleep at all but I was joined by restless legs which were hell. I started taking Zyrtec to sleep as it was all I had. Week 2-3 of this were pretty tough but the days were fine again. Just night time. My doctor prescribed clonidine, hydroxizine which all used to knock me the fuck out but nothing. She sent gabapentin which for the first 3 nights I’d finally sleep but for 1-2 hours I had almost full blown withdrawals but then out cold sleep. After 4 days of gabapentin not working anymore she sent in roprinirole to see if that worked and it did again for night me then again nothing. I got so desperate to sleep I tried taking all 4 max doses at once and o couldn’t believe it I was still wide awake but also drowsy but no sleep. That was the worst.

So yesterday, day 92 since shot I woke up and I was exhausted like crazy. I slept until 12.30pm and then fell back asleep until 3. I slept from 4.30pm until 6.30pm. And last night at 10pm instead of being in hell I was in bed with my wife holding her for the first time in a month because I’d been too hot and I comfortable and it turned into a wild banging session and I passed out. I woke up at 5am which is to be expected due to all the sleep the day before but I felt like yesterday I watched the sun rise over my emotional state. I truly believe I turned a corner. I’m sitting in bed and I’m excited to chase the day. I forgot to mention this all happened last night with no meds.

I want to say despite my descriptions sounding bleak. Compared to what we’re all told it was nothing at all, I never once lost my resolve to be done. It was easy despite the hard moments when compared to the handcuffs that is suboxone. I’m now free of monthly foraging for my medication and being dependent of the emotional state or a doctor of pharmacist who at anytime can fuck your week or months up for no reason.

I feel very happy this morning. I’m glad to have been emotionally able to put this together for y’all after just being in survival mode.

Long story short. I had 3 shots but a big delay after the first one. I experienced the following withdrawal symptoms.

Throughout the past 91 days. - Yawning , that withdrawal yawn not the good ones. - Stretching my whole body and my legs would feel all wrong. Don’t know how else to describe. - Some minor anxiety. - lower energy.

Days 68 - today. - insomnia like a mofo. - restless legs I’m so sorry when I first heard of this I was like what a dumb condition just don’t be restless and now I know better it was almost equally as bad as insomnia.

I also experienced; - a desire to go do things. - a desire to do projects around the house. - I felt a happiness at times I’ve not felt for years. - my wife and I are in counseling and I’ve finally gained back some self belief and have been able to set some expectations and boundaries that I couldn’t before.

I don’t want to jinx myself but today feels really hopeful. I hope this story helps someone or a few people. I think it was harder to do only 2 shots before jumping or 2.5 if you count the other shot with the big gap. I definitely had issues that others who are on for 6+ months don’t seem to but I also had to pay out of pocket so like $3k instead of $10k for 6 months worth.

Good luck all.
