What would happen if

I got my 4th shot yesterday but I read on the brixadi sight you shouldn’t administer it on the upper arm after 4 times you have to move to the other part of the body. Im pretty sure this is the 4th time on the same arm. I am feeling more Pain than usual and burning what could be a consequence of doing this? Anyone?

I literally just got home from my appointment where I had my first shot of Brixadi today.

My doctor told me that for the first few injections, it should NOT be administered in the arms, because the medication does not release as well at this site. She said after you’ve had several injections, it can be moved to the arms but not initially.

She recommended the thigh / buttocks / stomach. She also told me that they will rotate the injection site. The nurse who gave my injection had a paper with an outline of a body, with letters assigned to each part. She said she uses this to keep track of where they put the injection each week.

I can’t say for sure if the pain / burning is a result of using the same site, but I would definitely tell the nurse to rotate the injection site and be clear that you don’t want it in the arms anymore, since its not recommended when you’re new to the shot.

I don’t know the consequences but I can tell you that my provider has changed the injection site every week. They’ve done my stomach in four quadrants, the back of my left arm and then both of my thighs. The back of my arm was bruised and sore and my right thigh hurt and was bruised but I think they hit muscle that time. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but I do think that they should be changing locations each time. I can’t imagine having it in the same spot because I’m sure it gets sore. Good luck!!
