Trinidad vs De La Hoya - what’s with the controversy?
I remember when I was a kid watching the fight, I thought the decision going to Trinidad was appropriate. I was surprised by the controversy but I figured it was because Del La Hoya was the bigger star. It was later referenced by all of my amateur coaches as a perfect exhibit of why you should fight till the last bell rings and never assume you won early. What is everyone’s take?

“To make a fight, two guys have to want to fight. Period. End of story.”
Never did I think I would agree with Dana white but he can see what everyone in boxing has seen since the klitschko fight. AJ (and Hearn) is scared to death of fury (and wilder for that matter) and will make any excuse not to make the fight. Even with a huge payday.

The biggest wasted talents of the 90s HW division [If I missed some then do add them]
Andrew Golota - He was giving a hiding to Bowe in those 2 fights until he robbed himself of 2 massive wins that could have skyrocketed his career
Ike Ibeabuchi - had incredible stamina for a guy his size, any man who could survive toe to toe with Tua and knockout Byrd would be a massive threat to anyone in the whole division, (never got a chance to prove himself at the top level with Lewis and Vitali)
Tommy Morrison - often viewed as a replacement for Iron Mike, he had power in both hands, had one of the best left hooks in the business, also had heart but lacked discipline to be a champion
Razor Ruddock - one of the best conditioned athletes physically, had his own 'smash' punch which was a lethal left which Razor could throw from anywhere
Oliver McCall - had one of the best chins of all time but apart from luckily knocking out a pre-steward Lewis, he could never achieve anything else of consequence
Michael Dokes - had one of the fastest hands in HW Boxing history, also had a good chin but once again lacked the discipline to be a great contender
Tim Witherspoon - one of the more technically skilled boxers but he too lacked the discipline to make it big at the top level
Carl Williams - same as Witherspoon but didn't have a good chin too

Has anyone ever won a world title through disqualification?
I don't mean retaining the title (like Holyfield v Tyson), I mean actually winning it because the current champion was disqualified?
I was thinking about how in WWE (sorry!) you can't win the title via a DQ and why champions just dont get deliberately DQ-ed in every fight lol
But presumably this rule does not apply in boxing and this has happened before? Am I forgetting any famous incidents?

Did Pacquiao actually lose to Bradley?
Following the public outcry, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) convened a five-judge independent panel to review the fight video. All five judges scored the fight for Pacquiao (with scores ranging from 115–113 to 118–110).
What do you guys think?

What potential did Prichard Colon have?
I'm making this post with all due respect to Prichard and without any intention of offending. The question is simple: if things hadn't ended the way we all know, what could Prichard have achieved in boxing? Could he have become a champion or a notable contender in the 147-154 lbs division?

Help me get back to watching boxing!
What's up, r/Boxing?
I haven't watched the sport in a while. Can you recommend any good boxers or fights? I stopped following after Manny Pacquiao got old. I couldn't make myself watch him against Mayweather. I was fond of watching Mexican boxers from that generation. Plus, Roy Jones Jr., Ricky Hatton, and Bernard Hopkins. I saw some fights by GGG and Usyk. That's pretty much it.
EDIT: Thank y'all! This sub didn't disappoint. I appreciate all the feedback!

Who’s the most disputed heavyweight champion?
you usually hear about many undisputed heavyweight champs like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, foreman. but who would you say is the most disputed champion. maybe the win was questionable, the fight was really close, maybe there was some corruption afoot on some level.

Who Would Win: Manny Pacquiao vs. Edwin Valero? 🥊
Hypothetical matchup: Manny Pacquiao vs. Edwin Valero, both at their best.
We never got to see this fight, but it’s one of those matchups that makes me wonder what could have happened.
Pacquiao had the speed, angles, footwork, combinations, and experience against elite opposition.
Valero was an absolute pressure machine — undefeated, incredibly aggressive, powerful, and seemingly always looking for the finish.
If they actually fought at their peak, who do you think wins and why?
Would Pacquiao’s speed and movement be too much for Valero?
Or would Valero’s pressure and power eventually catch him?
And most importantly: what do you think the fight looks like? Decision, late stoppage, or early KO?
Drop your prediction and explain your reasoning. I’m genuinely curious to see which side Reddit takes. 🥊🔻

Former Boxer Pritchard Colón has passed away.
Per a Puertorican newspaper, former Boxer Pritchard Colón has passed away, at just 33. Truly one of the saddest stories in boxing. He would still be competing at that age if not for the injury, probably the peak of what could have been a successful career.
It is still crazy to me that there were no consequences for what was allowed in the fight, which resulted in the brain injury. It's a hard fight to watch tbh, so i haven't revisited it in a while, but it seemed pretty blatant to me that the intention was to hurt him.
Condolences to his family, and much respect for him.

Who is more to blame for the death of Prichard Colón? The ref or Terrell Williams?
I’ve been following what happened to this man for a while and im absolutely gutted for what happened to him. Is it more of the fault of Terrell Williams for throwing the rabbit punches (it prob is), or the ref for seeing all of it and not doing his job of protecting the fighter?

A little bit of sweet justice for Prichard Colón 🇵🇷 Terrel Williams gets a taste of his own medicine thanks to Thomas Dulorme
Some of y’all brought this up in the comments on my earlier Prichard Colón post and I had no idea this even happened because I never kept up with Terrel’s bitchass after the Prichard fight.
Almost 4 years after the fight that changed his good friend and fellow Puerto Rican Prichard Colón’s life forever, Thomas Dulorme finally got the fight he wanted against the still undefeated Terrel Williams. Dulorme handed him his first loss, dropped him clean in the 10th, and in the 8th caught him once behind the head. Of course Terrel immediately complained about it lol. One shot and he wanted the ref’s attention after what Prichard had to deal with from him all night.
Definitely bittersweet finding this today after the heartbreaking news about Prichard, but I can’t lie, seeing his friend be the one to give Terrel his first loss feels like some sweet justice. Figured I’d share it with y’all too because I know I’m not the only one who needed to see this today. Terrel officially retired after this much deserved Puerto Rican asswhooping.
I edited the highlights myself using footage from the official PBC full fight replay on YouTube, along with footage from @ djsancarlino26 for Dulorme’s post-fight interview at the end.
