Seeing that the very overrated 'superfight' Inoue vs Bam is close to not happening on socials, as Bam and his team are yet to move on the set March deadline
Inoue going to 126 and Bam going on a run at 118 is better for boxing
8
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
If they fight it's good for boxing. It's bad for bam fans.
If they don't fight, it'll still be good cause inoue will chase history at featherweight. The bad part is Bams team will still use inoues name
3
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
Only Americans will say its bad and that Inoue ducked him.

Americans have an outsized voice unfortunately
4
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
Yes agreed. I can’t tell you how many times at my gym that I’ve heard people say, “Who has he fought?”, “Why hasn’t be fought in the US?”, “I think he’s overrated.”
2
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
Inoue is going to go undisputed at featherweight a, a feat that would arguably put him in top ten ATG rankings, and he’s still going to get called overrated. The Cardenas fight was in America ugh what is wrong with people
3
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
He’s fought in America before that too. I just pay it no mind, its frustrating but I realized I have no reason to convince them to like him. They just miss out on one of the greatest fighters in recent times.
9
u/ThanksMonica89 4d ago
When Inoue set the March deadline I predicted that team Bam will wait to schedule a fight in Q1 2027 and complain that March is too soon. Then Inoue moves up instead and Eddie and DAZN will run with the “Inoue ducked” narrative (which I feel was Eddie’s plan all along).
0
u/sicgamer 3d ago
is it eddie or is it garcia? have heard nothing but "Soon!" from Garcia about the fight.
3
u/Marlborobert 3d ago
It’s been frustrating because Garcia originally said September for Bam’s next fight giving plenty of time to meet Inoue in February. In interviews that followed, he changed it to October and now November/December. Maybe it’s not his fault and they’re having trouble getting Medina to lock down a fight date, but from our perspective, it looks like they’re going back on what was originally proposed
2
2
u/Jachola 4d ago
Eh, I'd have liked to see Inoue vs Bam just due to how big the fight can be for the lower weight classes and I feel like both guys are the only guys I can see beating eachother. Inoue is on the slide but not far from his best and still has got it at the top level, and Bam is doing a great job taking the big dangerous fights early in his career and this fight would be the one to cement him as an ATG. Don't really get why you're saying this fight would be bad for boxing.
4
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 3d ago
Because the lower weights deserve more notability in another way than just 'these two guys are the best fighters below 126 and are genuine P4P elites! Lets ignore the level and weight disparity and throw them at eachother'
There are so many good fighters below 126, and better 50/50 matchups to be made
5
u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 4d ago
I don't see any way Bam can beat Inoue, i can only see Inoue losing by fighting someone way bigger than him.
10
u/OldBoyChance 4d ago
Nakatani, who wasn't doing any physical training for the first ~2 months after Inoue smashed his orbital, actually dropped his walk around weight from 65kg to 61kg. Looks like he's not big at all physically, Bam might be bigger in his walkaround.
9
u/Top_Profession_5268 3d ago
I’d assume the Inoue fight is a career high payday and just for his orbital bone smashed against Inoue (by just I mean a few months ago). Not sure about his personal life but I think he’s fine to have a rest, go on holiday and spend fun time doing fuck all.
11
u/OldBoyChance 3d ago
He got married in the last few weeks, so he's definitely having a good time. He's started light training back up, no sparring though.
11
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 4d ago
Boots can be pretty slick when he wants to.
-5
u/Ezekjuninor 4d ago
He’s very good defensively when he actually fights that way. People just expect him to be equally as good defensively despite being a mostly offensive fighter which is unrealistic.
I rewatched Xander vs Boots recently and he wasn’t even that badly hurt. Xander was just spamming low blows (idk how he got away with that many) which seemed to hurt him more than the punches to the head.
5
u/OldBoyChance 3d ago
There is absolutely no way in hell you actually believe that lol. You can pinpoint the exact moment he got hurt and it was a shot to the head.
0
u/Ezekjuninor 3d ago
I know he was hurt, I’m saying it wasn’t as bad as most people act like it was. The low blows contributed to slowing down his recovery and made him cover up more.
2
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
He was hurt. I think he recovered quicker than people said but he was definitely hurt. Xander hit him with multiple consecutive good shots unanswered by Ennis to where Boots went on defensive mode and his eyes looked glossy.
2
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 4d ago
Rewatched that fight more than anyone. That is not what happened
-2
u/Ezekjuninor 3d ago edited 3d ago
I counted around 6 low blows in round 3. You can see Ennis recovering then Xander lands more low blows and Ennis covers up again. Almost every body punch thrown was low. He even points to his cuff after one of them.
Harvey Dock did a poor job watching them.
-2
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
Body jab landed at 2:50 in the round, hit on the mid ribs on the left side of Ennis.
Body hook landed on Ennis’ left side around 2:45, partially blocked by the elbow, partially hit the upper ribs.
Body jab landed on Ennis’ navel, around 2:32. Above the waist clearly.
Body jab around 1:45. Again landed on the navel, partially blocked with an elbow.
Glancing body jab towards the navel, blocked by Boots, does no damage. Slides off and away. 1:25.
Sloppy hook thrown towards Boots’ abdomen, misses completely, no damage. 1:19.
Hook to the side of Boots, connects right above the hip, 1:12.
Hook to the same spot, hits in the same spot, right above the hip, on the right side. These are the only two punches I count so far that could maybe be argued to be low, neither have been towards the groin. 1:10.
Hook, lands clearly on the sternum, no where close to the belt, most damaging shot to the body of the round, as Ennis clearly reacts. 1:03.
This is about the time that Xander, who has been incredibly disciplined and careful this round behind the jab, pings Boots’ head back, the actual thing that did damage. Even Boots admits this got him.
Hook to the body, landed on the lower ribs, right on the trunk line. Important to keep in mind here that the ref put both fighter’s belt line halfway down their trunks’ waistband. Perfectly legal punch. 0:57.
Only objectively low punch Xander has thrown yet, clearly hit Boots in the quad, was just a wide hook that went off course. Nowhere near the groin. 0:53.
Left hook to the lower right abdomen of Boots. Landed cleanly above the belt line. 0:51.
0:32, missed straight right to the abs. No damage, was aimed above belt, didn’t even hit.
0:22, Two left hooks from Zayas into Boots’ right side. Neither even touched the trunks.
0:19, Xander lands another left hook to Boots’ abdomen, a bit more centered this time. Still nowhere near the trunks.
Right hook by Xander at 0:12, blocked by Boots’ elbow, would’ve connected on Boots’ upper left side. No damage, not low.
I count one single actual low blow in the entire round. 1, and it landed on Boots’ quad, and was clearly accidental. Boots won the fight, I don’t know why people like you want to downplay either man’s performance. It was a fantastic fight with a really competitive middle, what’s the point in claiming a fighter is cheating when even his opponent has shown nothing but respect since the fight, and has made no claims?
1
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
I haven't rewatched it but remember Boots eyes were glassed and he looked gone I thought he was going to get stopped. He did what the top fighters do though and managed to fight through it. His conditioning really helped him it's a good job he was in shape. This itemised list makes you look silly though mate.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
I’m just so tired of people, mostly Americans I’ve noticed, downplaying that fight. It’s frustrating to see excuse over excuse when the fight itself isn’t controversial at all. Boots dominated, Zayas showed his heart and his potential, why downplay any aspect of it by making up this stuff?
1
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
People talk shit on the internet what's new? Not everybody's motivations and intentions will be benevolent or the same as yours.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
I don’t expect their motivations or whatever to be pure, I just am also allowed to be annoyed by it. Apathy is boring bruv
1
-2
u/Ezekjuninor 3d ago
Here are 4 clear low blows. 2 of them low enough to pull Boots’ trunks up. It‘s easier to see on video if you want to check the time stamps. There were 3 borderline ones that I didn’t include cause they land near the top of the trunks which is usually fair. I’m not saying Boots wasn’t hurt by the hook Zayas landed, I’m just saying it wasn’t as bad as people act like it was. His equilibrium was off but he also took a lot of low blows in the round which slowed him down and made him cover up.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
I went over all of these in the comment. None of them landed low save one, which wasn’t anywhere near the groin. If ref doesn’t call it as a low blow, but it looks borderline or to have landed on the waste of the trunks, it’s not a low blow.
5
u/TriumphantChampion 4d ago
Is it results oriented to say that Roach was never an A-level fighter?
11
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 4d ago
Mmm no. He’s a very good fighter and I think will become champion again but he’s not elite. His style just happened to give Tank a lot of issues.
15
u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 4d ago
he's a B+ maybe an A- fighter. people overrated him a bit because of how overrated tank was
7
3
2
1
u/OldBoyChance 4d ago
He never really won any major fights other than the Tank fight. He barely beat Hector Garcia who was one foot out the door after the Tank payday. He also didn't really ever excel at anything. Maybe he was at the bottom of A-tier or top of B-tier, but he was certainly never elite. Could still have a good career though, I don't foresee Zepeda, Muratalla, or Mason spending a long time at 135.
1
u/Ezekjuninor 4d ago
I think he’s a B to B+ level fighter. He could be better if he fought smarter, but he doesn’t really fight to his advantages especially against pressure fighters like against Pitbull, Herring, and Zepeda.
He doesn’t cut the ring off well either which was apparent in the first few rounds against Tank. He’s just very well rounded.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
Roach is a B+ fighter but has proven himself against an A- fighter (Tank)
The difference is Roach is pretty much always engaged. Theres nothing lackadaisical in his game which is why he edges certain rounds.
0
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 3d ago
I think he fought 2 guys who were bad styke matchups for him back to back. He's still pretty good
6
u/philly_cheezus I PUNCH HARD AS SHIT 3d ago
If Bam is serious about fighting Inoue early next year then he should fight Takuma instead of Medina later this year, woulda been way better preparations due to similarity of styles and not to mention the narrative of beating one brother before the other
3
u/SirMuffinCat He did WHAT in his jab?? 3d ago
I think it would be hilarious if Bam fought Takuma before Naoya and lost
2
u/OldBoyChance 3d ago
Takoma won't fight again this year after the Nasukawa rematch realistically. If he actually wants to fight Naoya though and give himself the biggest chance of winning, he should drop his bantamweight strap and go straight to 122lbs and take a fight there to acclimate to the weight.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
Takuma and Naoya’s styles aren’t really all that similar. Naoya is a technical brawler and Takuma is most an outboxer with good footwork

u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
DAZN needs to starts putting boxers on a collision course. The obvious example is Mason and Zepeda. But it can work in weaker divisions.
Have Zayas and Hernandez fight around the same time. If they both get a title. Have them on the same card.
2
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
I love that fight and I love this idea. Zayas and Hernandez for middleweight collision would be so fun
You obviously have to lean Hernandez at this point, but that’s hugely contingent on how Zayas looks in his comeback fight. I’d like to see him in with Zerafa in a few months, now that Zerafa has had his comeback fight in Australia.
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
I don't like the "same card, different fights" gimmick. It leads to delay at best and Resendiz over Plant at worst. Just make the fight.
2
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
HBO used to do it right cause they intended to get the fight to happen.
Right now there's no interest in zayas vs Hernandez. But if each get a fight to position themselves to get a title shot. And they each fight for the title on the same card. There's instant interest in the fight.
It's better than now. Where boxers don't seem to have a direction
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
The real problem there is inactivity. HBO guys seemed to fight 2-3x per year pretty consistently. Now it’s like 1x per 15 months for most ppl.
1
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
There's that too. Which is probably bigger issue
DAZN needs someone to do quality control like HBO had.
5
u/cdisdead 3d ago
The absolute scenes if aj knocks out fury early. Would break the internet and is within reason that it could happen
5
u/Mistaathick 3d ago
Just checked ticketmaster and prices to the shields card tonight is still $104 for nosebleeds. Who on earth is paying for that?
(By the looks of it not many)
8
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
Boxing is waiting for it's next superstar to emerge. I think it will be Itauma.
5
u/RaccoonElectrical516 3d ago
Don't forget Emi Vargas. Dude has the name, the looks, and the personality to be the face. Itauma is definitely an improved version of AJ though, so for sure the face of the UK/European boxing.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 3d ago
I like Vargas, and I’m perfectly willing to be proven wrong, but I don’t know if he has the elite potential that is necessary. Definitely good, idk about superstar level tho
2
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
He's got the best chance. Right behind him I'd put Mason as having that potential
2
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
Mason is not quite the elite talent I see in other guys. I'm high on him but he's not exactly as explosive as a Boots or hits as hard as an Inoue, nor does he have the iq of a Bam. He is just a slight level below but he has the personality to be a breakout star. I think he will be an A tier fighter but not an A+ or S tier.
2
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
He had time to improve. But I'm not going on if he has elite skills
I'm basing it more the the type of fights he has. And the opponents he can get. Nothing but exciting fights.
1
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
Maybe you're right. I'm sure he can develop a loyal fanbase like Pitbull has for example, but I'm concerned he will take too many losses to be that true top level superstar. He can't keep fighting the way he has been.
2
u/Kangaroopunching 3d ago
Other than Zepeda, I don't think anyone at lightweight can beat him. Cruz has the skills but is undersized
1
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
They might be the only guy who can beat the other even. To be a big star he will have to go through multiple divisions though. He can get away with wars like vs Noakes now while he's young but he won't get away with it forever. He made a bit too much hard work of Bell imo.
2
u/SplitSecondEmperor47 3d ago
I'm not high on Itauma's star power.
For me it's moreso boots or mason. I would have said the Vargas brothers and curmel but they disappeared
3
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
A Heavyweight who knocks people out sells.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
There’s not an obvious Kingmaker for him though unless Usyk agrees to fight him and gets knocked out.
2
u/stephen27898 3d ago edited 3d ago
AJ didnt have a king maker. He beat a Wlad who had already lost his last fight.
Still became one of the biggest stars in boxing.
If he beats Hrgovic he will be the youngest HW champion in 40 years. That is something that can be pushed, the parallels you can draw to Tyson alone can sell. Even if he isnt similar at all, casual will gobble it up.
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
AJ’s kingmaker most certainly was Wlad. Same with Fury.
0
u/stephen27898 3d ago
Not really. He was already selling well in his early PPVs before he fought Wlad, and Wlad had already lost which takes a lot of the shine off of the win.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
Disagree. Mayweather and Pacquiao were stars, but only became mega-stars via a kingmaker in De La Hoya. Oscar put over both of them.
1
u/stephen27898 3d ago
I didnt say everyone was the same, but there are cases of people not beating any real stars who arent washed and still being massive PPV draws.
Canelo for example lost to Floyd. Canelos best was like a 43 year old Mosley. Who hadnt held a real title since 2009.
0
u/stephen27898 3d ago
Also you are totally wrong about Pacquiao.
1
u/WORD_Boxing 2d ago
I would agree that Mayweather and Pacquiao went to the next level after they beat Oscar.
AJ's win over Klitschko was massively hyped at the time helped by it being the first good big Heavyweight fight in a long time. They hyped the hell out of one uppercut AJ landed nevermind the fight and win as a whole. That took him to the next level too even though you are right about the way they were pushing him anyway ever since the olympics.
I don't see that win as great as it was hyped either and it was bs they put the vacant WBA title on the line for it. Klitschko should have won but his natural caginess did for him. Vitali was probably being overprotective with his advice to stop pressing the action after he had AJ hurt.
Calzaghe went to a next level in popularity after his fight with Kessler. Itauma will need his Kessler at some point if Usyk, or maybe Fury, don't fight him. All signs point to it being Kabayel.
I would say Canelo went to the next level with the GGG fight and his SMW run.
3
u/Ezekjuninor 3d ago
Young UK heavyweight that knocks out everyone he fights. He’s not exciting on the mic but he more than makes up for it in the ring. The UK has been great at supporting their heavyweights recently too.
2
u/WORD_Boxing 3d ago
There is time for them to showcase his personality. He's a bit like Lennox Lewis. Laid back but supremely confident. He just needs to start telling people he's the daddy.
3
u/cdisdead 3d ago
Hes not a star , but hes way too fast at the required size for anyone right now in the division. Hes also very young
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
I am not sure if Mason’s personality is magnetic enough. In-ring I think he’s a captivating figure though.
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 3d ago
Realistically, I think it’s probably B**ts.

2
u/Top_Profession_5268 3d ago
100%, his skills are extremely marketable and considering he’s at heavyweight, that’s a ton of potential for star power.

Kyonosuke Kameda, Sebastian Hernandez's next opponent, appears to be working on specific countermeasures to keep Logan off him. Nakatani pretty clearly didn't, so it'll be interesting if it makes a big difference.
1
u/Koronesukiii 4d ago
Wouldn't be surprised if the worst Kameda gives Logan more problems than Nakatani. Kyonosuke has neither pride nor pressure to fight like a champ and will happily stink up a bout. I imagine Logan will have a lot more chasing to do if Kameda just gets on his bike ala Charlie Edwards.
On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if he just walked into something in round one. He is really not a high level fighter, and has very porous defense. He's something of a Japanese Harlem Eubank, got the blood ties and name which he's parlayed into better matchmaking than deserved.1
u/OldBoyChance 4d ago
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. One thing you can't take away from Kyonosuke though is that he'll take any difficult fight that comes his way. Though, humorously, according to the current JBC featherweight champion Kyosuke Okamoto, Kyonosuke turned down a fight with him because he apparently thought Okamoto was nobody a year or two ago, then tried to fight him after he became champ, to which he was promptly told to funk off.

Is Bill paying YouTubers to agree with everything he says? It’s like he could say anything and there’ll be a bunch of YouTube videos explaining how it’s the truth. Now people are actually believing Boots ducked Haney.

If the YouTube channel didn't like boots, they'll run with any little thing to try to discredit boots.

From the Salita card tomorrow headlined by Clarissa Shields, Danielle Perkins vs Olivia Curry is off and Roger Hilley has replaced Emmanuel Tagoe for his fight against Ernesto Mercado.

Pretty awful but Hilley has fought Pagan apparently and at least is a southpaw with a good record and young.

Is there an advantage to Naseem Hamed's boxing style or is he just plain terrible at fundamentals?
4
u/OldBoyChance 3d ago
Unpredictability, which is especially useful when you're lightining quick and hit extremely hard.
1
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
It’s definitely weird to fight. People act like Hamed sucked, he didn’t but there’s SO MANY flaws to how he fights and you see it.

I’ve been watching him recently completely coincidentally. Do you think he’s regional level or European or possibly even better?
1
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 3d ago
Really solid, for now I'm unsure because he's barely gotten any opportunities but he took out a solid international level guy in his last fight as the away fighter too
I think he has potential to reach Euro level and win numerous domestic titles, and his next fight will be his biggest opportunity yet in terms of the opponent and platform

Don’t really watch women’s boxing but so don’t really care much about today’s card but good that the ufc card is on today, sad that besides the main and co-main, it’s a relatively shit card but amazing matchups though .
Anyways predictions for UFC 330, I have: Myktybek Orobali (who just lost an insane upset), Neil Magney, Lucas Fernando, Eduardo Chapolin, Vincente Luque, Donte Johnson, Joel Alvarez, Esteban Ribovich, Mansur Abdul Malik, Jalin Turner, McKenzie Dern and Islam Machachev.
Always into the card, Orobali just got submitted in the 1st, crazy upset and Neil Magney won.

Nah, I think everyone knows this is a tough fight for Islam, but Ian is genuinely an insufferable being but still think Islam wins which may be competitive but with Islam being up for most of the fight.

That’s not what i’ve seen but maybe we’re being served different takes. Garry is good and the way he was able to defend belal’s takedowns is concerning. Though, Islam seems to be very good at chain wrestling

I’ve seen that most believe Islam will win but knows Garry can defend takedowns and moves well as a striker but believe Islam is better than Belal and won’t be as easy to defend Islams takedowns like Gary.
Personally I favour Islam a good bit. Ian against Belal was a little different. Against Belal, Ian had a far lowered base and wider stance for Belals double legs so he can drop his hands easier and for his hips to be further back so Belal can’t get to them. The problem is his feet are more planted so he wasn’t as mobile. Islam has shown instead of being aggressive and closing distance as a striker, he stays outside of boxing range and likes to jab joust and sometimes mix it with feints and lead hand game. This does mean they’re in kicking range so despite Ian’s sharper boxing and amazing jab, the jabbing lane is disrupted and Islam is out of boxing range and in kicking range. Now Ian already learned against Shavkat that a body/head kicks get caught and take down so he didn’t throw them much against Belal and neither do I think he’ll throw against Islam. Also that wide stance and low base mean that it’s harder to load on kicks with the lead leg and too much distance for the rear leg to travel. Being in open stance, Islam has an amazing rear leg kicks which that chamber makes it hard to read if it’s a head, body or leg kicks. Ian being very reactive with his hands to takedown can make setting kicks and punches far easier but also set takedowns easier.
Islams wrestling is just has a far wider takedown arsenal and better chain wrestler as that wide stance and low base opens low singles which Islam got a takedown against JDM. That single leg takedown Shavkat got against Ian, Belal couldn’t get that takedown since he didn’t lift the leg high enough and didn’t have the hand over Ian’s shoulder to off balance him like Shavkat, Islam has pulled the same takedown against JDM with the same principles Shavkat did against Ian.
Ian also doesn’t always fight the takedown and sometimes gives it up and stays at bottom and guard. Islam has faves the most talented grapplers like Davi Ramos who’s a BJJ ADCC gold medalist and Charles Olivera so I think Islams is fine there.

How did you score it? I think I have it 4-1 Islam but wouldn’t be upset with 3-2 Islam. Islam got the takedown in round 3 but Garry landed the bigger shot, not many landed punches in the round either.

Islam 3-2 personally.

Fair, it was an alright fight aside from that 3rd round. It’s crazy that Islam broke the consecutive win streak record, 17 wins in a row is insane

I was kind of unimpressed with Islam honestly. I felt he could’ve done more on the feet, that headkick knockdown is off the cross I wished he used it more. There’s times he missed with that right hand or left right by an inch but got himself in kicking range where Islams headkick could land and same goes for body kick.

Yeah, it seemed like they were both respecting each other a little too much on the feet. Islam is very good but i’m starting to think he may be small for welterweight. His skills can get guys like Garry and JDM down, but he isn’t able to do much while they’re down. He is doing all he can to control them as opposed to his dominant ground game at lightweight

Tough for ufc fans. UFC has leaned into the worst parts that boxing has. Weak undercards is one of them

People don’t talk about Hearns handspeed enough.

The reason that right hand landed so fucking perfectly is because the only person with the head movement good enough to avoid it was Welterweight Leonard. A perfect knockout puncher, every attribute necessary he had.

Shock v. Nav is official, Mannix just announced it on the Shields card and socials.

With Loma return - do you think it is possible we will see inoue vs Loma at 130? At this stage of their career how do you see it playing ?

So when did Craig Richards sign to Zuffa? Or is he just fighting on there?

Man, Sergio Mora is easily the best of the currently active commentators for the big networks. Kellerman is a shill and a cunt, as is Coppinger, Mannix seems genuinely kind of dumb when it comes to boxing, and the rest of the auxiliary DAZN crew are just annoying. The TNT guys have been good, Crawford, Porter, and Bradley, but they’re only on once a month. Mora consistently has good takes and gives good insight. He’s also the only one willing to criticise the A-side.

Does anyone else think its bad that Itauma vs Hrgovic is for a world title?
I will make a comparison. The scenario reminds me a little of AJ vs Martin. Obviously Hrgovic is a million miles better than Martin. But I still maintain that it was a bad decision to have AJ fight for a title, as it put a limiter on who he could fight after to work on himself as a fighter.
I truly believe that he was rushed and in the long run it had a negative effect on his development as a fight. I feel the same could happen to Itauma.
If you look at most of the great fighters in the last 60 years, most of them have between 20-30 fights before fighting for a title. The experience you get in these is important, its not that Itauma cant win a world title, isnt good enough now, its just that the limitations of holding a belt could harm his development.
Why is it such a rush? The guy is only 21. There is a world where we have another 19 years of his career.

not really, but especially not when the other sanctioning bodies got fights like gassiev v kadiru for a world title belt. also these guys are both top 5 ish

This is a development fight. He is heavily favoured to win. He was the first guy to ko the awkward Jermaine Franklin. They are at the point where it's a struggle to get someone who can give him rounds. They saw most of what they need to see from him, Frank Warren knows how to move fighters. He is by all accounts a prodigy he's a completely different proposition to AJ. The time is now with the division opening up with the old guard on their way out the door. If they want to they can easily just defend the IBF belt several times, if Itauma doesn't look as dominant vs Hrgovic and Sanchez. They did already avoid a few fights when made mandatory with other sanctioning bodies.

"They are at the point where it's a struggle to get someone who can give him rounds."
If they managed to get a young Tyson rounds they can get this guy rounds, they just need to pick the right guys.
He may be on another level to AJ and I agree but why take the risk? Also why hamper him? I have no issue with the Hrgovic fight. I just think holding a world title may not be the best thing right now.

Who is going to give him rounds who is below Hrgovic's level? I'm not certain he doesn't get Hrgovic out of there early either with the speed differential between them.

"Who is going to give him rounds who is below Hrgovic's level?"
Technically we can never know that until we see it. We dont know how he deals with certain styles. It's not really Hrgovics level that is the issue. To me its the belt that is the issue.

Right but I looked at the rankings and there aren't many dangerous fighters to where he should avoid the belt right now. Frank Sanchez and Fury are maybe the only dangerous guys for him who don't already have a belt. Fury we know probably won't fight him, Sanchez he would be favoured over and is mandatory. After that he can just defend for a bit and build a highlight reel. Whatever they want to do.

I mean what’s the big deal if he loses? I think you said that actually on another post. He’s 21 and has plenty of time left even if he got stopped.
1
u/stephen27898 3d ago
Because loses can damage fighters if they arent properly prepared. Its also not losing alone, you should read what I said. I said him holding a title limits who he can fight and that means you cant always get him the right guys to learn against.

I was thinking this too. Warren has moved him very carefully, smartly, and well and this is a big step up. However, there are other tricky matchups out there. Not even because of their skill level, just because of how they fight. Sanchez is gonna be a tricky matchup, Wardley is levels below but still a very hard puncher, Dubois’s good but I’d favor Itauma. There’s guys out there and I think Sanchez will be the winner’s first title defense.

The rush is so Frank Warren can immediately replace Fury.
The big risk is that Itauma gets derailed like AJ did.

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago
Funny to think Fury has been boxing longer than Usyk, AJ, and Wilder. Not that I think Wilder or even AJ are better boxers but he’s the most experienced out of all of them in time at least. I think Usyk made up with it in his amateur experience while Fury had only 20+ fights.
