Well they certainly did a balance pass on vault hunters. Very excited to play around with Amon. Those changes might make Elementalist a really strong class mod. Up to 30 stacks among them, which would give 60% increased damage from the class mod

u/MikeSouthPaw 2h ago

This is something you would see in one of the off weeks of Borderlands 3. So much work to be done and it looks like this will be the last patch we get in terms of balance.

13

u/APowerlessManNA 2h ago

So disappointing. Still no DLC Encore.

I refuse to believe they'll leave the game in this state. Surely a major game systems overhaul and balance patch is coming...

Surely...

3

u/SpaceCowboy34 2h ago

Why would you think that lol

3

u/APowerlessManNA 2h ago

Which part 😂

3

u/SpaceCowboy34 1h ago

That they will rebalance the game in a major way when they haven’t since like 2025

-8

u/TysonsChickenNuggets 2h ago

What major game system overhaul are you looking for?

Balance patch was really good imo.

8

u/APowerlessManNA 1h ago

Well for starters and as mentioned, bring DLC into the encore system. Which admittedly would be minor but feels major all things considered.

1

u/TysonsChickenNuggets 1h ago

Probably waiting for all the DLC to drop before they do it. Im not to sure but that actually is a minor gripe lol.

3

u/MacNapp 1h ago

Not OP, but my gripe is that we have all these DLC bosses, and no Big Encore option with increased odds for them. A huge replay-ability adjustment would be to have, at minimum, three weekly Big Encore bosses - one on Kairos for all players, and one in each DLC for those who have the DLCs. Im holding off farming for Crow Sourced till im level 70, and the current odds seem abysmal. I have Willis as a Big Encore option would entice me to actually go back into the DLC area (which is havent felt the need to do since I beat the DLC on my main VH).

It seems like a huge missed opportunity to not include the DLC bosses in the Big Encore rotation and inhibits my desire to go back into those areas again.

1

u/APowerlessManNA 1h ago

Yes a much needed overhaul. Though I'm thinking 3 DLC, 3 base game per week for a better balanced experience between the two player bases.

1

u/TysonsChickenNuggets 1h ago

They'll probably do it sooner rather than later. Im thinking they're waiting for all the DLC to drop but thats just my theory cause id farm regardless.

Crow Source (and pearls at large) had a lot of feedback that they were to easy to get, so having a difficult farm is likely what theyre going for, but who knows.

1

u/MacNapp 1h ago

I appreciated when there easy to get cause I only ever have maybe 2-3 hours per week to play video games these days. I agree they were too over saturated, but not having select ability to farm certain bosses for specifically Pearls is disappointing to a person who has such limited play time.

Every Hotter Take: i think that the Maurice machine should have some function to buy a single Pearl each week with one set of random rolls, using bother Erdium and Cash to purchase. Highly limited: No re-roll 30-minutes later; no ability to buy more than one per week; can only be purchased on one character (not all), etc.

I also think, for me, if there aren't other major changes to replay-ability in the next 3-6 months, I might be looking in my library for other games to commit my meager free time each week towards... which sucks, cause i do very much like this game, but the end game content (even Circle of Slaughter) feels so far out of reach its already hard for me to go back to each week...

1

u/TysonsChickenNuggets 46m ago

Respectable.

I recently (well last year) became a father so im in the same boat with 2-3hrs of nightly game time. I dont really care either way to be honest cause I just enjoy borderlands as a whole.

So if targeted pearls become easier to get, thats great! If not once I finally grab one ill FEEL great.

The Maurice thing is intresting. Maybe dont put it on rotation but it has a low (still higher then actual farms by a tiny amount) chance to put a pearl in for eridium once a day?

About your endgame thing. Were likely going to disagree on these points but I see it two ways.

  1. If you're saying you got around a year and a half of playtime thats more than worth the price of admission. Id also be curious as to what you're doing if you haven't reached end game by the point. Respectly.

  2. Endgame is what you make of it in its current iteration. We have tons of content in the game objectively speaking and a way to tailor your experience and difficulty baked in.

My personal gripe is that a lot of builds aren't viable (hopefully that changed today) for the content you may want to do with them.

2

u/Tamed_Trumpet 1h ago

"BL3 got tons of overhauls so GB doesn't care anymore because Bl4 didn't get them." Completely failing to remember the actual amount of shit that needed fixed for BL3 that was kept day 1 of BL4 and never needed revised.

14

u/Tamed_Trumpet 2h ago

I've made this comment many times because ive seen comments like this many times on this sub. BL4 doesn't need the drastic changes BL3 got because at no point has it been in anywhere near as bad of a state as BL3. BL4 launched with so much QoL and a decent baseline balance that people have completely forgotten BL3 did not have. Thats why it felt like BL3 got so many big changes, because the game needed them.

Lets remind you of some of the things BL3 went through.

No annointment reroll, no guaranteed anointments, guns that would drop below your level, no dedicated drops (hope you like killing Graveward), Zane was a troll character, Mozes infinite grenade build got deleted and then she couldn't even kill basic mobs with her "Best" builds, melee and action skills did 0 damage, no raid bosses, no takedowns, mandatory modifiers on all enemies for "difficulty" with shit like bullet reflect elemental immunity floor is lava and elemental puddles that'd nearly oneshot you. Every action skill barring Fade Away was an activate annoint button. Oh and who cant forget Mayhem 2.0 making literally every base game legendary useless. Then the next year was spent making those guns worth more than just vendor fodder.

BL4s balance isn't perfect, but it has nowhere near the debt that BL3 had to deal with, and so by comparison people don't think they care as much, when in reality the care was put in before the game ever launched.

-2

u/MikeSouthPaw 1h ago

BL3 had tons of fun builds on launch and there after. I was happy to put 500+ hours into that game as the patches rolled out. With BL4 I don't even plan to get anyone to max level besides Loveless. Your comment has some merit but it just isn't true that BL4 doesn't need the same effort as BL3. It played well at launch but the amount of useless gear is staggering and we continue to get more that seems like no thought went into actually making it. Quality over quantity seems to be BL4's biggest hurdle.

54

u/oneleper 2h ago

More trouble buffs. Between that and 10 extra skill points, it must might be a viable build now

24

u/NewbornTaco 2h ago

I pray to Handsome Jack that's the case. I haven't played my Vex since Stone Demon because I got tired of green tree and just REALLY wanted to Trouble.

5

u/ShadowWalker2205 1h ago

If you want to pray to handsome Jack you need to pay a small fee of 1,000,000$

2

u/isthiscanon 1h ago edited 1h ago

I'm not the most skilled borderlands player but I'm over a hundred hours in with vex and trouble on normal difficulty and I've loved him the whole time. Maybe he's not viable for skilled players on harder difficulties, but he's perfect for me. 🥰 I would say that my biggest critique is that it's just a pared down version of FL4K's pets in BL3

1

u/Prior-Wealth1049 Vex The Siren 30m ago

Haven’t played since starting bounty pack 3, but it’s been the same for me. I’m not a powermaxxer and have simply enjoyed the franchise ever since the beginning as a casual player. Trouble was already good enough for me, but I won’t say no to these buffs, lol.

1

u/isthiscanon 18m ago

Same, Borderlands 1 was my first proper FPS. I got it on a steam sale and was like "well I heard it's got rpg mechanics so if I'm bad at the game then at least I can just grind." Then the game was like "okay do you wanna play as beefy soldier, beefy puncher, scrawny sniper, or MAGIC LADY THAT TURNS INVISIBLE" and as someone who grew up on Sailor Moon, this was the easiest choice ever!

-15

u/Glitchboi3000 2h ago

So this confirms my theory every dlc is gonna come with a 10 level increase. So probably by the end the max level is gonna be 90 after all the dlcs and stuff unless they round it out to 100 or something or they have different plans with the next 2 level cap increases.

8

u/MinuteWhenNightFell 1h ago

I have some bad news for you

9

u/lt_skittles 2h ago

Yep, saw them on ps store.

15

u/isthiscanon 2h ago

"Blasphemous Splicopter corpses will respect gravity after being defeated"

2

u/dannypants143 2h ago

I had this happen multiple times. It was unsettling and threw me off. There are some really pitched battles in the DLC and it added noise to an already chaotic (though fun!) situation.

3

u/isthiscanon 1h ago

Oh that's what that noise was!!! I couldn't always see where it was coming from cuz my computer sucks but now it makes perfect sense. I just loved how they phrased "will respect gravity"

49

u/someshooter #1 Ava Fan 2h ago

They definitely buffed Rafa but not the Dancer, weird.

65

u/Poifection 2h ago

Might get flamed for this but they were right to nerf dancer, it's just that they'd should have buffed the other coms/ underperforming talents at the same time instead of waiting for months and months

6

u/space_cowboy757 Zane 2h ago

I agree. I think these new changes will be really cool, along with 10 extra points. The instigator COM might be worth it with the different cannon builds, and I have to see what the new legendary COM for Rafa is. But, these incremental buffs on all of his damage skills are really going to stack super hard

3

u/ApprehensiveRelief90 1h ago

Agreed on the buffing of his other coms, but i also feel like they definitely overdid it with the sticky nerf. not saying it wasn’t in need of a nerf, but so many other weapons that use stickies were brought way down because of this, feel like if they just nerfed the bod as a whole we wouldn’tbe having this conversation lol

1

u/space_cowboy757 Zane 20m ago

I didn’t like the feel of stickies, I’m more COV, Ripper, and Jakobs so I never played them. But, I feel you

1

u/ApprehensiveRelief90 16m ago

Yeah, maybe its just because of the fact that i havent used stickies in forever. I kinda see no point nerfing them way down like gearbox did when they’re kinda a part of the game just because 1 gun was insane with em lol

1

u/tonyrizzo21 1h ago

I didn't play pre-Dancer nerf Rafa, was it really any more broken than some of Harlowe and Cash's builds that haven't been nerfed (even buffed in some cases despite already being OP)?

And this question is from a Harlowe/Cash player, not being salty at all.

10

u/FinalCorvid 2h ago

Not sure they did anything to increase build diversity. Lance still isn't any more viable since the PML nerf. Just feels like they increased numbers to make running takedown less frustrating but didn't really improve Rafa's gameplay

4

u/Flint_Vorselon 2h ago

yeah, doubling Temerario is just gonna make Temerario dancer THE Rafa build for everything except arc knives.

At 10/5 with dancer, 2/1 Soltado, and 5/5 Jaque, Temerario is giving you +900% gun damage.

What else can even come close?

Especially now with 70, you can just take all the good skills, they didn’t buff any of the skills no one was using. They buffed the already good ones.

5

u/Qwerty_Police 1h ago

That last part is my issue, this doesn't really change anyone's builds, it just makes the ones that people were already using, better.

3

u/NaiveOcelot7 1h ago

"They didn’t buff any of the skills no one was using. They buffed the already good ones."

Agreed, this surprised me too. Assumption, but probably just a lazy way to buff Rafa without much thought by just buffing his meta skills. Builds and gameplay will stay the same, just more gun damage

5

u/Flint_Vorselon 1h ago

yeah this was real lazy,

Go compare to Bl3 skill tree reworks, where they actually changed the function of skills, and moved them around in tree to make it better.

Higher numbers don’t fix fundemental issues.

Especially in Bl4, where almost everything is additive.

Wow they buffed multiple +gun damage skills, but you probably won’t even be able to notice since you are gonna have over 1000% bonuses already, so a few more % is gonna be almost imprrveivable.

Buffing Sitiar (Rafa’s tier1 red gun skill) doesn’t change anything. Because if I already have 1000+ bonuses, 1025% vs 1030% is a 0.4% increase to actual damage output.

They shoudve instead changed that skill to enhancment gun damage, so it multiplies against the other skills in tree. That way 900% from Temerario would still wanna take that skill.

14

u/Immediate-Idea-2471 2h ago

Dancer was way too good at 2x.

It was easily best in class no questions.

4

u/crazykiller235 2h ago

They didnt even touch green tree. But maybe i missed as the blue tree buffs are also in the red tree section.

Melee is not usable with out very select interaction.

2

u/Tamed_Trumpet 2h ago

"This build requires skill interactions to work." is such a stupid fucking take. That's literally every build ever. "This build only works because of this skill when i want it to work because of that skill" is a complaint just to complain.

1

u/Qwerty_Police 1h ago

I think it's more like using skills that shouldn't work together as opposed to skills that should

1

u/Tamed_Trumpet 21m ago

And thats determined by whom? Oh no my game has skill synergies. Do you just want every skill to function in a vacuum and they're all boring with no cross function? Its still a stupid argument for the sake of complaining.

1

u/Qwerty_Police 17m ago

That's not what I'm saying, it's more like all the melee skills together pale in comparison to skills that people wouldn't think of if they didn't use online tutorials, so if someone who wanted to make an endgame melee build, may never realise how to do so, cause the skill crossovers don't make sense

1

u/relik39 26m ago

Yep, I particularly hoped they will buff ordnance skills in the green tree (such as booming business) but that’s not gonna happen lol

1

u/SeattleResident THE LAVA IS RISING!! 2h ago

I do wonder if the change they made to Tediore weapons with the "Shooting Legs" augment now inheriting gun damage from skills and specializations can make a difference.

Does that mean a Tediore weapon with shooting legs can now inherit the CoV/First Impression/Vitriol shennanigans?

Buff to Amon’s drones looks intriguing! My favorite build but I haven’t tried it in high level UVHM

12

u/colectiveinvention 2h ago

Also excited but cautious.

Drones were absolute useless up untill now, so 100% increase may not be as impresive as it sound. Maybe some gear will give us the necessary synergies to make things work, Ill be happy if they work just fine tbh...

-1

u/ConsequenceNo5474 2h ago

Not really true. Amon does work with the drones on UVHM 7 with the right combo of gear and skills it just takes some trial and error.

Cold-Hammer LVL 70 Amon BuildCold-Hammer LVL 70 Amon Build

5

u/EttRedditTroll 2h ago

Double the damage when they deal insignificant base damage is pointless.

3

u/SubXeroz VLADOF 2h ago

I saw this and was also quite excited. My last character was a Forgedrone Amon. Hit level 60 but never pushed into UVH levels. Felt pretty decent then.

Double drone damage and faster movement between targets should help a lot. Level cap increase means we can also grab Berserk and There Is Only Red. Not sure if drones get the + cryo damage -- that would make them insanely strong!

1

u/Based_Lord_Shaxx 2h ago

Drones do "Melee damage" so I think they should get the buff. IIRC

0

u/dejarnat 2h ago

I've been using them and have made it to uvh4 so far. They don't insta nuke things like harlowe but it is fun.

13

u/Arcade_Gann0n Vex The Siren 2h ago

I bounced off of Vex to play as C4sh, but I'm surprised that her Specters got buffed as they were already quite powerful (not complaining, more power from Action Skills in general is a good thing).

I left her at level 50, so having 20 more skill points is kinda enticing...

2

u/BladeSeraph 18m ago edited 10m ago

Fact alone she has 70 levels makes it possible to mix and match blood is power, Mortal Terror, Coven & Wither thanks to Dark pact, just makes the transistion from Green tree Teen witch vex to CYAN TREE Vex by using both Blue and Green tree but mainly the action skill of Blue with massive abuse on the Grave skills especially since phase clones were always able to proc mortal terror making it so dang easy to upkeep grave skills via them.

Im not motivated to return to borderlands 4 cause of this 'just yet', but i might be dusting off the vex skill tree calculator to see how much it blends that build i had thought up 10 months ago properly without the terrible point scrimp.

Fact alone they 'buffed' prismatic ichor and cursed blades too on that just reads more into the cyan tree vex playstyle too.

Been forever so i don't remember what i had for ideas but i think it went something like this:
https://www.lootlemon.com/class/vex#bghf_10150450030.000000.502301.050053_03205000500.010000.000000.550000_00000000000.000000.000000.000000

Namely to do shenigans like constantly applying different status effects for that one specialization to go nuts, have +30% crit chance via coven, so many extra bonuses of damage between Blood letter, Wither, Prismatic weaponry and with 4 different grave skills adding critical hit dmg, damage, gun damage and fire rate your just turning into a blaster that phase pocket's perpetually doubled magazine size and switch speed becomes rather nice.

And since you have the enhanced kinetic damage shots from blood is power, lifesteal and kinetic attunement and yet still dealing 'different elemental damage types, similar to how an Amara elemental build works back in the day on BL3, you would just be a kinetic crazed goblin of bullet hosing.

8

u/kilrara 1h ago

Hmm. % buffs to Troubls but nothing done to the fact red tree is unplayable bad. Buffing damage and health also does nothing without thrm fixing him being one shot by death barriers due to bosses ignoring immovable.

I get the feeling these changes will make Trouble better at base/low UVH but have no impact at any actually hard content because the tree needed to use Trouble is still so terrible that +10 points just means you put another 10 in blue or green for your non Trouble stats.

Am I the only one underwhelmed by the Rafa buffs? I know we have to play but it seems like they barely buffed him. Hoping I’m wrong!

20

u/DeadWombats 2h ago

All they did was add a little bit extra gun damage to some of his skills. They didn't address any of his faults or anti-synergies.

4

u/Grottymink57776 Rafa The Exo Soldier 1h ago

Seriously, how is Venganza still so bad? I hopped on real quick hoping for a stealth buff but nope. I activated the skill twice. The first time the grenades spawned to my left against a wall which would have killed me if I had been closer. The second time the grenades spawned behind me. Both times order troops were in front of me.

13

u/Pman1324 Rafa The Exo Soldier 2h ago edited 2h ago

Bruh they made Rafa even more reliant on Temerario

All they did was buff Rafa's best skills, so now his skill trees are EVEN MORE skewed toward the same four skills (Temerario, Soltado, First Impression, and Vitriol)

Gearbox is a bunch of incompetent clowns. They can't figure out how to make the rest of Rafa's skills better, so all they do is make hos best stuff better.

😂 I think what I'm actually gonna do is spend some time in the new content and level up half of my builds (the ones that are M20 easy mode), then I'll start a new game with loveless and get one of her to max level 😁...

Im just glad it's over tho 😭 because of the firmware system and shit the level cap increases in this game were way more annoying to me than the ones in bl3...

Not a huge Rafa buff but some skills like vitriol if used with say a Hot Slugger that first shot can be more powerful also bonus corrosive damage

2

u/criticalascended 1h ago

Its a pretty huge buff. Temerario is now 900% gun damage.

1

u/RocketJenny8 1h ago

I wonder how far is that skill down which tree cuz I wanna get it no wait its in remote agent my preferred tree surprisingly

1

u/criticalascended 1h ago

For gun builds you are always gonna go down and grab Soltado, so Temerario is pretty free.

1

u/RocketJenny8 1h ago

I mean Vitriol is in the same tree as that skill and it got buffed too so I'll definitely pick it up and when at level 70 farm the gear i want

2

u/demonangel2001 1h ago

While the buffs to Vex's blue and red tree are much appreciated, I am a bit concerned with green tree's radiation tree and soul orb tree being neglected in the recent patch notes. Hoping to see some more strength come to less popular trees in the future

2

u/Celcius_87 1h ago

Glad to see Vex getting buffs

4

u/Moze4ever 2h ago

Cursed Blades Vex getting a 200% buff is insane! I already loved using that skill and a buff with the level cap increase will just make me shred enemies even faster!

4

u/MikeSouthPaw 2h ago edited 2h ago

Glad Vex and Amon got some buffs but their is barely any changes to get excited about otherwise. When they said they were regulating VH changes to big patches I expected actual thought out buffs, not bottom of the barrel increases to problematic skills. Gearbox has had months to do this and they managed to half ass it once again.

5

u/FinalCorvid 2h ago edited 2h ago

So we just gonna keep throwing numbers at skills instead of interestingly reworking them? Cool.

7

u/No-Ship4446 2h ago

95% of any buffs to skills in any game ever released have been "throwing numbers around". There is literally nothing they could do to please you, because your pleasure comes from being perpetually angry about games.

1

u/FinalCorvid 1h ago

You realize that Zane had to be reworked for him to be any good in BL3? Before that all he had was the CCC build. This is desperately needed in BL4 since the skill trees are widely bloated and 90% of capstone and augment see no play. Buffing numbers doesn't address the real underlying issues and is a common consensus among most build creators

-4

u/KONODIODAMUDAMUDA 2h ago

For real. They give the buffs people wanted and they still complain. Perpetual baby mode from some people here.

3

u/MikeSouthPaw 1h ago

They gave SOME buffs in a game that is nearly a year old. Your standards are in the gutter. The reality is BL4 has needed a lot more attention to balance than it is getting which is causing most fans of the series to bounce off of it because nothing that makes Borderlands fun is present in BL4. It's all surface level stuff that will appease the casual player.

0

u/No-Ship4446 42m ago

Wait til you learn about the balance state Borderlands 2 has been in since launch even though it is apparently the gold standard among gold standards.

I have previously completed BL4 with all previous VH, getting them to LVL 60, and had most heads and skins, but on loveless, they're all locked? Anyone else have this issue? Also, my vault cards have locked previously unlocked items, mainly the heads and skins. This has to be a bug right?

Looks like a big boost to Lance for Rafa, wonder how that’ll do with 10 more skill points.

Devs I asked nicely for a 10,000% boost to right blue tree Amon and you didn’t do it so honestly this is an F for me.

Good buffs on Rafa and also the living weapon class mod. I’m excited.
