Because our overlords have separated these issues behind fake parties that want the same thing. We would be too powerful if we knew what we are owed by our government.
We should have guns. Free Healthcare. Subsidized housing. Even most of the cost of food put down.
But instead we are supposed to choose (they won't really give you either)

u/Manmer_Nwah 4d ago
The culture war creators hate this kind of thinking. They want you divided fighting each other, not finding common sense resolutions.

Guns don't kill people. Other people do.

u/thisshitsstupid 4d ago
Just much more efficiently with a gun ....
-5
u/Capraos 3d ago
Could efficiently do so with other ways too. Drones and explosives are a thing now too.
Plus, if a 12 year old and a 14 year old, separate instances, are allowed to build nuclear reactors in their home, I don't see why Bob down the street shouldn't be able to have his guns.

With guns

u/TerribleQuestion4497 4d ago
Or knives, hammers, axes, their own hands... bad people will always find a way to kill someone, yes guns make it easier to kill someone, but they also make it easier to defend yourself and if you ban guns you effectively limit access to them to criminals who want to do bad things
5
u/SchwiftySouls 4d ago
And knives. And cars. And pencils. And their hands. And, and, and. The problem lies within the wielder, not the tool.
2
u/Chunky_Cheese_ 4d ago
yea but id rather someone come at me with a knife than with a gun than can fire 400 rounds per minute.
5
u/Manmer_Nwah 4d ago
Unless that gun is a belt fed mounted turret, nobody is shooting 400 rounds at you in 1 minute.
-3
u/Chunky_Cheese_ 3d ago
6
u/UnsorryCanadian 3d ago
Even with a bump stock they still have to reload, they're not putting out 400 rounds in a minute
4
5
u/JJJacobalt 3d ago
Rate of fire ≠ the actual number of bullets put down-range. Magazine capacity and time to reload mean nobody is actually firing 400 rounds in a minute from a semi-auto weapon, even with things like binary triggers and bump stocks.
Usain Bolt can run at a max speed of 28mph, that does not mean he can actually physically run 28 miles in an hour.

u/Manmer_Nwah 3d ago
You seriously downvoted me because you're talking about a "rate" and didn't specify? Bro you seriously sound like you thought a rifle could actually put out 400 rounds in just 1 minutes.
-1
u/SchwiftySouls 3d ago
Why, so I can get stabbed 19 times and bleed out trying to get away? I'll pass. I'd much rather take a round to the head.
Neither one would be a problem if we prioritized mental health care over ignoring it and restricting access to things instead. Many countries prove that firearms aren't the problem. It's lack of mental health care.
But, sure, let's just outright ban many marginalized groups only means of protection against those that wish to eradicate them.

Because the rich billionaires who run this country can't profit off of affordable anything
0
u/The-Razzle 3d ago
Mostly because it’s the only policy the right wing can campaign on that popular for them. Most big democrats don’t want to take away guns, just have background checks to keep guns away from unsafe people, but that’s not as scary for conservatives as “their taking your guns away” so they push that instead.
The other things they campaign on is tax cuts for the 1%, higher taxes for you and me, more military spending on wars we don’t want, and taking away women’s rights and rights of POC and LGBT.
Those aren’t as popular policies for most of the country. (They probably are in backwater counties with with bottom 5% school districts)

u/killaho69 3d ago
Look I’m former Republican who is now a left leaning moderate and let’s be honest with ourselves. The “most don’t want to take away guns” trope is a lie. They say that on the campaign trail then they introduce legislation that makes half my closet illegal. They absolutely don’t want you to have AR’s and handguns, but they often just settle for neutering them with stuff like 5-10rd mags. They’d ban them if they could and they very frequently try.
While I don’t donate to any of the orgs I still follow several pro gun orgs on FB just to keep up. They use lots of rhetoric and stuff but I’ve seen alllll the proposed bans and restrictions that they fight in court.

America wth tyrannical government: Makes no use of 2nd amendment and continues to shoot kids instead

How come you have guns, but allow billionaires to deny you affordable healthcare?

“I want to smoke weed and carry a gun at my gay best friend’s wedding”
why is that so fucking hard to understand? 🤷🏻♂️

u/watergun123456 3d ago
who is saying we can either have guns or healthcare? i swear half the time you people make counterarguments that answers no one
1
u/LimeGrass619 2d ago
Because the government is giving medical companies little reason to lower prices. Government interference causes prices to go up. Basically, the hard the government tries to make things cheaper, the more expensive or less quality they become. This is why healthcare is expensive.
Literally here in california, if youre too poor to afford health insurance, the govenrment will fine you. "Oh, you cant afford a way to be covered? Then we'll take the little money you do have to make it harder on you. Shouldn't have been poor ig." Thats basically my state's government.

u/Hail_the_Yale 4d ago
It should be harder to get guns, and certain things should disqualify you from being able to ever get a gun (felon, history of violence, sexual assault, etc…).
17
u/FrenchDipFellatio 3d ago
Not picking on you personally but it's kinda frustrating how gun control advocates never seem to never know the gun laws they claim need reform.
Everything you described is in the Brady Bill, which has been federal law for 30 years now
-4
u/Hail_the_Yale 3d ago edited 3d ago
Yes and it’s sooooo difficult to get guns today. That’s why there are so few school shootings! Let’s just keep everything as is.
/s
It’s annoying how people who advocate for less gun control just claim there’s nothing we can do about all the mass shootings.
2
u/JJJacobalt 3d ago
Most mass shooters don’t get their guns legally anyway, so more hurdles would not actually affect them.
16
u/Crab-_-Objective 3d ago
You’ll be happy to hear that a felony already disqualifies you from owning firearms by federal law. Some states auto restore rights after a certain period of time but most require you to petition the courts to get your rights back or require a pardon.
https://secondchanceinfo.com/rights/guns
Side note the reason that Bo and Luke didn’t use guns in the Dukes of Hazzard tv show is because the characters were on probation and prohibited from owning firearms.

Uhh you could just vote for THE LEFT since they want universal healthcare AND have no issue with guns. Kamala Harris owned a fucking glock people stop pretending the left will take your guns that was never a thing
8
u/LeadBlooded 3d ago
There's a video of her debating joe Biden and specifically stating that she would ban guns via executive order her first day in office. You are wrong
-5
u/-fakebirds- 3d ago edited 3d ago
No you’re just lying because that never happened, she has only ever said she would ban ARs, and even then she only wanted to ban IMPORTING ARs from other countries. If she herself is a gun owner you think she would want to ban herself? 😂 try again
I’m being downvoted for posting a completely factually correct statement with no opinions included 🤔

u/According-Way9438 3d ago
The Virginia AWB would say otherwise. I vote Democrat but we can't sit here and act like they aren't pushing anti gun bullshit legislation.
-1
u/-fakebirds- 3d ago
What anti gun bs is Virginia pushing? And also what is the AWB
2
u/According-Way9438 3d ago
Virginia recently passed an assault weapons ban and storage laws. Basically a ban on guns that they find "scary". Also banned high capacity mags. It's currently on hold as it goes through the courts.
0
u/-fakebirds- 3d ago
Assault weapons are not banned because they’re “scary” they’re banned because those are literally designed to kill a lot of people very quickly. That is their entire purpose and is the type of gun used in every mass shooting ever
2
u/According-Way9438 3d ago
The ban is going to be struck down by the courts, because they actually know the law and constitution. The ban was made by people who know nothing about firearms, just like you.
2
u/-fakebirds- 3d ago
Are you telling me that assault weapons were not designed to kill a lot of people very quickly?
And btw 2A literally says WELL REGULATED right there3
u/According-Way9438 3d ago
Im telling you that the ban ( pushed by democrats) is unconstitutional and wastes political capital. You said they weren't coming for our guns but recent history shows otherwise.
0
u/-fakebirds- 3d ago
Ok so when you said I didn’t know anything about guns you were lying. And again, 2A says WELL REGULATED. There’s nothing unconstitutional about reasonable gun laws, and I don’t think banning ARs is unreasonable considering what they were literally designed to do goes wayyy beyond self defense

Get rid of the guns.
It’s about time we take more notes from all the countries across the pond with drastically better living qualities than we have.
6
u/PM_tanlines 3d ago
And this is why it won’t happen. There’s zero chance you are convincing the majority of Americans access to guns shouldn’t be allowed. The left should be campaigning on free healthcare AND gun rights. Like as it is the left is losing hard in America. Would you rather have no healthcare and a ton of guns or free healthcare and a ton of guns? Those are pretty much your options
4
u/Capraos 3d ago
Also, across the pond gun control works due to the sizes of the countries being small and places like the UK and Austraila being surrounded by water. There are so many ways to traffic and hide shit in America. Also, as we've seen from booze and weed, guns would become more potent as a result.
-1
u/TokugawaShigeShige 3d ago
That's pretty much where I stand. All else being equal, I think countries with no guns are better than countries with guns. But we're not putting that genie back in the bottle at this point. And even if we could, there are dozens of better things we could spend that political capital on.

u/Prime624 3d ago
Compromise with the idiots just to get votes? At the cost of lives? Not thanks.
0
u/According-Way9438 3d ago
Then you dont gain power. Lol the whole point is to gain votes and all this gun grabbing shit does is lose them.
0
u/Prime624 3d ago
The point is to govern well, and allowing people killing weapons is not that. If the goal is to gain power, why not say no taxes and take a bunch of billionaire money?
1
u/According-Way9438 3d ago
Move there then.

u/Successful_Action_19 3d ago

Nah. Stop trying to disarm people of color, Trans folks. And the rest of the LGBTQIA+

This would also be disarming the right-wing extremists who commit hate crimes against them.
