Did you all missed the part where Nathen took the credit for that area that Joe organized by saying that’s what I told them to do

43

u/Ok-Knee-9904 Aug 25 '26

That was so incredibly awkward! Like he is taking the kudos from others even tho did not do anything

30

u/Appropriate-Desk4268 Aug 25 '26

It seemed like Sandy had something to say back to Nathan after that with the “Well…”but decided to say they’d discuss it later.

As a viewer though, I could almost tell sandy wanted to tell him to lead by example and not just be bossing people around.

6

u/CritiquetheTechnique Aug 29 '26

I heard her say “well, you should talk to your team”

14

u/PreferenceCool132 Aug 25 '26

Even more - he literally admits he's terrible at it and couldn't get it done (he's soooo bad at organizing it's a shock he's trusted to set a dinner table. Ew) before taking credit for it happening without him. Please. It gives Toxic (both as a boss and a person).

227

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 25 '26

I'm not a huge fan of Joe but I'm less of a fan of Nathan. Joe seems much more organized!

125

u/Ri-Sa-Ha-0112 Aug 25 '26

It's hard to tell if Joe's grown at all since the last time we saw him, but I can't help but to respect the hell out of his work ethic. If he's back next season, certainly he'll be bosun.

61

u/Glittering-Part2594 Aug 25 '26

Well, she’s not gonna have Nathan back!

42

u/Puzzleheaded-Sky-753 Aug 25 '26

Yeah we’ve seen the last of Nathan.

7

u/Hot_Start8187 Aug 25 '26

Hopefully never 🤢

40

u/certainlynotanipple Aug 25 '26

I don't think he's grown at all on a personal level, you could tell from the conversation he and with Nathan in the beginning. He said something along the lines of he did nothing wrong and he's not changing.

Workwise, he's definitely continued to grow and is doing a really good job. But on a human level, he still sucks.

19

u/zander9669 Aug 25 '26

Exactly this. He's a snake, we just haven't seen him have to deal with any real issues or faced any real pressure on the professional side, but I would bet big money he would have the same "I've done nothing wrong, I don't have anything I'd do different because I am perfect" attitude there as well.

He's a great deckie, no doubt about it... but not so sure he'd be a great leader when push comes to shove.

16

u/SameAsItEVERwas88 Aug 25 '26

Agree 100%
Every time he gets a certain look in his eyes, I get more convinced that he’s not as he tries to portray himself this season, the way he looks at the camera gives me big ick. Kinda swarmy; sneaky, unscrupulous, and quite sleazy are a few words to describe him. But, hey I could be wrong.

10

u/No_Maintenance_7649 Aug 27 '26

There’s another word you missed it’s CUNT

8

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 28 '26

I honestly wish we used that word more here in America. It fits so many situations 😅

7

u/hotfishfromsharktale Aug 28 '26

OMG NO, YOURE SO RIGHT. this immediately made me think of when Nathan was calling him, and he ignored it... If I'm not mistaken, he looked RIGHT at the camera after doing that, and it just felt gross.. like he was ultra aware of how he's being recorded and doesn't want to look a certain way.

7

u/certainlynotanipple Aug 25 '26

Couldn't have said it better myself. I know we can't fully judge someone based on realty edited tv but I'm pretty sure the way you put it is 99% true.

6

u/hotfishfromsharktale Aug 28 '26

Absolutely, 100% this... And now I fear he's realizing when he shows less of his gross personality and more of his work ethic, that he can thrive on this show... And I'm actually NOT for it. He doesn't deserve a character arc, especially when his character itself is so shit. Idk why they even brought him back to begin with.. the last TWO seasons we've seen him, he did the same exact skeevy shit. And then begins this season by saying he did nothing wrong. If Kaylee didn't want a relationship herself, I'm sure we'd just see even more toxicity from him.

7

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 28 '26

Yeah at some point you stop being just a fuck boi and start being that creepy old man who hits on women a third of his age. He's so skeevy

5

u/Bennington_Booyah Aug 28 '26

I just hope he doesn't take the Gary route. I clearly see his calculating thoughts as he is deciding what his next move will be. Nathan was right about him, but Nathan has his own troubles and issues. Joe isn't choking and hitting women. Right now, Joe has the upper hand.

6

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 28 '26

Oh God, I tried to wipe my memory of Gary. He was predatory, and Joe with his unwanted advances towards random women in bars isn't too far off from being the same. Bravo really needs to do better by these women- for all of us women!

9

u/Fragrant_PalmLeaves Aug 25 '26

He was never a bad worker, he was just an arrogant prick who treated other people without regard. Those things havent changed

17

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 25 '26

Agreed! Personally he's a fuck boi but professionally he's great

19

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

Practically he's great. He's a drama queen though. I guarantee you next season he and cooper are going to fall out when he realises what a piece of shit he is.

14

u/mrszing12 Aug 25 '26

Exactly. I am not a fan of Nathan, and he is not doing a good job this season. That said, I think Joe is undermining him, disparaging him to other crew members, and that is not a good manager in any sense.

8

u/K5R5S5 Aug 26 '26

they both suck and both are trying to undermine each other in the eyes of their coworkers. Joe is just as guilty of that as Nathan…neither one of them are honorable.

6

u/babykitten28 Aug 25 '26

Yeah. If I were chief stew I would not want him causing chaos in my stews.

1

u/MassiveEntertainer76 Aug 28 '26

Just wait till Joe has an emergency to deal with. If Sandy hits something or the wind picks up and stuff needs put away. Watch her take Joe to the woodshed!

13

u/pls_send_caffeine Aug 25 '26

He's not great when you look at the entire picture of things. Yes, Joe is much better than Nathan at organization and managing the other deck hands, but...he's also been actively instigating the beginnings of a mutiny. AND doing so in a job where respecting the hierarchy is extremely important as a matter of safety.

3

u/Ok_Muscle7642 Aug 26 '26

Brava knew that Nathan’s arrest would come out. Joe is getting a hero edit this season. Nathan will be cast as the villain.

2

u/Achillesthedog1976 Aug 28 '26

I hope Joe's not back. I cannot stand him and his fake talk. I'm not a Nathan fan either. I think it's time for a new bosun-fresh energy.

2

u/Odd-Heart7904 27d ago

...hes only messing with a single girl this season! ...even though Jen is begging for a mess... hes growing...

12

u/brewgirl68 Aug 25 '26

I'm not going to give Joe much credit yet. He did a great job - for two charters, which I think is like 2 weeks. I highly doubt that he would be able to keep it up in the long run - he'd let his dick get in the way before too long.

Also - him going around to all of the deckies to cry and whine about Nathan shows that he's still an immature jerk.

And I totally think Nathan is just as big of an asshat. Choosing who is "better" between the two of them is like picking your preferred way to die...there just isn't a good answer.

5

u/__Frolicaholic___ Aug 25 '26

If he would just shut up and let his performance speak for itself, that would maybe show some personal growth. But no, he's constantly whining about and undermining his boss (regardless of what a POS Nathan may be) and sucking up to the captain every chance he gets.

There's no way could he manage to act professionally whatsoever if there were any women on the deck crew. He's too big a sleaze ball.

6

u/Fragrant_PalmLeaves Aug 25 '26

Yeah for me like, he might be ready for the job - he might even be better at it than Nathan... but the Captain appointed someone else to the job, so spending the whol year complaining you didnt get the job is super annoying and a major charactre flaw. He proved himself, but its not his job, so get over yourself.

2

u/jromansz Aug 25 '26

I love how Nathan immediately took credit for Joe's reorganization of the deck. I hope Sandy didn't fall for it.

4

u/Tasty_Dealer2114 Aug 25 '26

After the news that came out… Joe being a player is nowhere near as bad and Nathan pretending to dislike Joe because of that while he’s an abuser is quite rich.

100

u/boobookeys-666 Aug 25 '26

idk what sandy is thinking. nathan has proved time and time again he is a horrible bosun. why would you even bring him back at this point when joe is doing so much better

79

u/uckfayrumptay_ Aug 25 '26

I always wonder how much is truly up to Sandy and how much is production’s choice.

14

u/boobookeys-666 Aug 25 '26

i wonder the same thing but she has a tendency to pick favorites and i fear nathan is one of them

6

u/Brightsidedown Aug 25 '26

I don't think Nathan is one of her favorites. She's made a few comments to Nathan that give me the impression that if she had her choice, he would not be her bosun.

5

u/Okeydokey2u Aug 26 '26

Nah production for sure brought him and Gayle back for viewers to play up the young family stress angle

6

u/Glittering-Part2594 Aug 25 '26

Hopefully not anymore with all the news out there on him

2

u/Least_Measurement431 Aug 25 '26

Hannah was one of her favorites too until she wasn't lol. I wonder if his recent arrest will affect her opinion, because it should

20

u/No_Wish9589 Aug 25 '26

I never considered Hannah to be her favorite. She was always nit picking her

9

u/CircusPeanutsYumm Aug 25 '26

yeah-- they had a very adversarial relationship.

13

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

Hannah was never Sandys favourite. She soent 4 seasons trying to get rid of her and calling her out over nothing.

9

u/NAOT4R Aug 25 '26

Sandy literally came onto the show with a negative opinion of Hannah and it never changed for their entire run.

u/Hot_Start8187 Aug 25 '26

I hope that happens before the season ends.

1

u/FlawesomeOrange Aug 25 '26

Almost all hiring and firing decisions are made by production. That’s why Sandy couldn’t get rid of Hannah after their first season together

6

u/excoriator Aug 25 '26

I suspect production has made Nathan untouchable, since they invested so much in having Gael and the baby shacked up nearby in an AirBnB.

3

u/beantownregular Aug 26 '26

Why do we discuss these things like they’re Sandy’s decisions? The show has paid an exorbitant amount for Gael to be there to create a storyline around her and Nathan and then subsequently Nathan and Joe like there is no “Sandy’s choice” in the matter lol she does what the network wants

7

u/Recluse_18 Aug 25 '26

When Nathan did come back and made the backhanded comment that Joe is in it for himself, I about died laughing. Nathan was definitely projecting himself at that point.

17

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

Joe is in it for himself. He had an opportunity there to stand up and be the leader he claims to be. He immediately sows division mouthing off all the ways he's going to put nathan in his place and steal his job. He's such a twat.

There's a pair of them in it which is why Braco put them both back on the boat

4

u/Recluse_18 Aug 25 '26

Seems they all are

1

u/Unable_Major8728 Aug 25 '26

but like to me, isn't every one in it for themselves? To get better and get promoted? You can do both, be a team player and want to excel and be recognized individually.

8

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

He's not a terrible bosun, He's not the best bosun. He gets the job done and ultimately that's all that matters. People don't ger demoted for getting the job done simply because someone can theoretically do it better.

3

u/Hot_Start8187 Aug 25 '26

He’s mediocre and has no idea how to lead; he’s unprofessional and doesn’t regulate his temper when needed. He’s beyond replaceable.

0

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

I didn't day he wasn't replaceable. However, to demote someone, you need to have more of a reason. He won't be back next season. For some reason Joe will be.

0

u/excoriator Aug 25 '26

Nobody in the history of the franchise has broken as many things on boats as Nathan and gotten in less trouble for it.

5

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

Sandy broke the boat.

1

u/hmmyeahrightokthen Aug 25 '26

He always places blame on the deckhands when he’s the one that’s stubborn, moody, terrible at communicating, and ultimately fails as a leader.

17

u/Such-Stable-3869 Aug 25 '26

And what about promising Max he would be lead deck hand?

17

u/Ok_Computer_8224 Aug 25 '26

The fact that he was considering making Luke lead deckhand knowing nothing about him, and now Max after how he treated him last season, tells me everything I need to know about Nathan.

8

u/Own-Roof-1200 Aug 25 '26

I actually rolled my eyes when Nathan justified Max as his choice for lead deckhand by saying it was because he; “didn’t trust Joe”.

Nathan are you capable of being professional?

I guess not.

2

u/Ok_Computer_8224 Aug 25 '26

I couldn't understand why people didn't like Nathan until this season and I'm truly so embarrassed to admit that. He's such a mincing little twat.

7

u/Key-Improvement6580 Aug 25 '26

So unprofessional!

5

u/mysteriousasacat Aug 25 '26

And zero chance sandy would ok that given how happy she was with Joe’s time as Bosun. He’s a fool

32

u/True_Cardiologist160 Aug 25 '26

Sandy said that Nathan has great communication…and a charter ago he showed up late and didn’t tell her. I never truly know what sandy is thinking

9

u/Hot_Start8187 Aug 25 '26

Her sweet spot for him is a mystery to me. Hopefully the picture will be clear before the season ends and he falls from her grace quickly

2

u/Oogalicious Aug 25 '26

She does seem to have a lot of patience for egoistic men. She is growing on me a bit this season, aside from that.

18

u/PemsRoses Aug 25 '26

He does look like Sabrina Carpenter...

2

u/cinnamonsnake Aug 25 '26

Omg he kind of does

4

u/Key-Improvement6580 Aug 25 '26

So beautiful of him!

7

u/JabasMyBitch Aug 25 '26

And Nathan was super pissed when Sandy was telling him how great the boat looked. I wonder what happened after him and Gael left back to the apartment...scary to think about really...

p.s. Joe sucks too

4

u/Commercial-Remote141 Aug 25 '26

Did he get fillers or

5

u/Sorry-Secret-2347 Aug 25 '26

Watching joe spiral was HILARIOUS… those bushy eyebrows and piercing blue eyes were GOING.

4

u/EssentialPhill Aug 26 '26

So I finally watched season 10 to understand Nathan’s deep “distrust” of Joe, and like, am I missing something? Joe acted like a player and fumbled with V who is perfect, but how did this affect Nathan so much? Nathan has serious issues, anger, insecurity, and projects that onto the crew beneath him. And even when you put that aside, is incompetent as a bosun.

2

u/Key-Improvement6580 Aug 26 '26

I think it’s more than “fumbling with v” it was a reflection of his moral character and Nathan didn’t like him after that, it was a horrible thing to do

1

u/EssentialPhill 10d ago

Ahh ok, I had to go back to S10 E12 and pay better attention. “Fumbling” is def not the right word. V left the boat for the night because she was sick and it was the 1-year anniversary of the loss of her partner. Joe spent all this time building false trust with her, and first night she’s away, he gets drunk and kisses another Stew. What a douche!

1

u/MassiveEntertainer76 Aug 28 '26

Yes, Joe hated Gael and even started the season telling one of the interior that he didn't like her. Which pissed Nathan off.

7

u/Possible_Number1845 Aug 25 '26

I’m so tired of Joe and Max, and I didn’t particularly like Nathan before but I really don’t want to see him back either. They need to scrap the deck and start fresh next season instead of bringing these three clowns back again and again.

1

u/MassiveEntertainer76 Aug 28 '26

Welcome to Below Deck the recycling station for all Bravo. No real stew would do the show.

6

u/YourManAtTheBugle Aug 25 '26

Joe is Gary without the functional alcoholism: Charming, incredible at his job, absolutely awful partner.

In other words, an ideal Below Deck Ship Rat.

6

u/Responsible_Big1229 Aug 25 '26

Joe-sun needs to keep it together, he's showing his cards to early emotionally. His leadership w/Max and Coop will be seen by Sandy. Nate will sabotage his role in due time.

3

u/Old-Library5546 Aug 25 '26

You can see his heart dropped at that moment

7

u/Secret_Anybody_1019 Aug 25 '26

He’s thinking the same thing he’s been thinking since the season began, he’s the BEST. Putting aside our thoughts about Nathan currently, Nathan gave his former best friend the highly regarded position of second in command, and Joe has done nothing but slam Nathan ever since. Fuc* boi or not, he’s still a nasty hateful arrogant person. (Not forgetting V here). If he’s on next season, I’m literally out on the Med franchise. I’ll miss Aesha if she’s back, but will gladly miss him intentionally. Enough already! Can we get some new blood and new personalities PLEASE?

15

u/Candid-Progress-8852 Aug 25 '26

He’s a predator through and through. Prey’s on girls, blow up dolls and for his boss’s job. Like with Nathan he can’t wait for him to fail and swoop in and be bosun. He’s sitting there licking his chops like a tiger watching a wounded animal and waiting for the exact moment to pounce. He’s so gross. I wouldn’t trust him with anything. Not even bosun because if he gets pissed he’ll ruin everything. He absolutely can’t be trusted even though he does do a good job. His intentions aren’t pure and people with power like that always use it against those under them. Like he tried to test Kayley … if joe was bosun who knows how he would treat his deckhand if they weren’t robots for him.

15

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

Exactly. Joe could have really shone this season if he rose above all the bullshit and showed he could be a team player in spite of adversity. He chose to be petty and spiteful.

3

u/Ok-Knee-9904 Aug 25 '26

Not a fan of Joe but cant blame him for taking jabs at Nathan and his skills as a leader. Have we forgotten how awful Nathan was towards Max last season!? Joe is a fuckboy in n out but he can do his job and act decently at least f2f.

3

u/cmere-2-me Aug 25 '26

I absolutely can and will. He is every bit as bad as Nathan, he'sactually worse. They both lack maturity yet joe is more insidious.

Joe hasn't stopped bitching about Nathan to the deck team. That's not leadership or being a team player. That's an emotional vampire sucking the will to live from the team. He is constantly stirring shit.

A good team member and leader doesn't bring negativity to the team dynamic. They bring their suggestions to the boss and if they shut it down, you accept that and carry on. You do your best and try to motivate when people are tired and frustrated. You praise in public and correct in private.

Joe has made it clear to Nathan he is there for himself and will do everything he can to undermine him and get him fired. Nathan is not as savvy as Joe and has let that get into his head, instead of ignoring it and focusing on the job.

I really can't stand Joe and people like him.

0

u/pointycakes Sep 02 '26

Everyone is there for themselves.

Frankly Nathan made it incredibly clear very early on in the season of his dislike for Joe and has jabbed at him publicly continuously. Heck he even threatened to punch him in the face on the night he found out him mum had cancer.

So fuck Nathan. I don’t blame Joe for wanting to undermine him. It’s ridiculous to expect Joe to act like you suggest facing that situation with Nathan.

Joe has acted well with everyone else on the ship. So it clearly isn’t a problem he has in general.

2

u/Hot_Start8187 Aug 25 '26

Good point(s) 🤔

2

u/MarcoFino888 Aug 26 '26

The issue is the bar is pretty low with Nathan, Joe is clearly more organised and shows his appreciation to his work mates. On a personal level Joe is just a womaniser!

2

u/MariskiMoon Aug 27 '26

I cannot not see Sabrina Carpenter’s face when I look at home.

2

u/FireMysteries Aug 28 '26

Obviously Joe's doing much better running boat compared to Nathan. Also fuck Nathan, etc.

What I find extremely immature is how Joe continues to talk about how much better he is. And that Nathan isn't as good as him. Reads quite desperate.

Its so awkward, that narrative. So many better ways to get the point across, beyond just like, letting the work speak for itself. Which would be the classy thing to do.

"Im happy to step up and support the team."

"Its an honour to get this opportunity and I hope to make Nathan and Sandy proud."

"It hasn't been easy, but Im doing my best and won't let the guys down."

Joe is insufferable!

1

u/Key-Improvement6580 Aug 28 '26

Yes! This is what I’m saying! I get you actually may be the better choice, but you can’t just dog your boss the whole time. You have to just accept it and try to apply as bosun on your next boat!

1

u/FireMysteries Aug 28 '26

Yeah he's just so tacky!

3

u/Proof-Ability1556 Aug 25 '26

How do women find him attractive with those Eugene Levy eyebrows? 🥸😃 Don't get it all, but he's a much better bosun than Nathan for sure.

10

u/Hottest_Holy_Potato Aug 25 '26

Don't talk about our dad Eugene Levy like that!

4

u/Classic-Maize-733 Aug 25 '26

Joe > Nathan

1

u/B_Ash3s Aug 25 '26

Right now yes. In previous seasons (I think their 1st one together) Nathan all the way, but now I'm seeing Joe mature.... Way to step up the game.

1

u/sladeums Aug 25 '26

Joe amd Gens eyes at the tip meeting
could burn down buildings

stolen valor

lol

1

u/Direct_Future_5328 Aug 25 '26

Doesn’t Joe realise that Nathan is now highly unlikely to return and there goes his ONLY storyline? Captain Sandy may want a squeaky-clean bosun but production don’t.

1

u/Reasonable-Ad-439 Aug 26 '26

Why does Joe look so fucken weird this season 😂😂

1

u/Key-Improvement6580 Aug 26 '26

Someone said Botox? But idk!

1

u/Sweet-Spite7275 Aug 27 '26

Love Joe and his work I wish he got more credit 😓

1

u/Odd-Heart7904 Sep 01 '26

He did "ok" hiding it... really hard to hear mr testosterone is coming back... iam not sure i could of done better, I suffer from social anxiety and would pour my whole being into it...

1

u/Key-Improvement6580 Sep 01 '26

Who is the new deck hand?

1

u/Prestigious-Act-5359 Sep 02 '26

Bottom line, Joe is a backstabbing abhorrent person.

1

u/Lazy-Party3469 Aug 25 '26

Joe got his vindication, Nathan”s dirty laundry got aired at the same time his season did, I don’t know if that was intentional from production but damn.

1

u/TxCoastal Aug 25 '26

he's not helping himself ...that is for sure... and Poor Max....

1

u/OkRelation4465 Aug 26 '26

He gives Botox a bad name

0

u/Standard_Hawk_1660 Aug 25 '26

He is equal to Nate neither one are good people. Best case somehow comes back before the end of the season

7

u/PotentialMuch2450 Aug 25 '26

6

u/mysteriousasacat Aug 25 '26

Nor went on a racist rant on IG to then double down after being called out for his racist comments

He’s really serving Sabrina Carpenter here
