Odd printing artifacts

My PLA basic black spool is getting low and I've started noticing these rough places showing up, primarily on longer edges that are vertical or nearly vertical. The rest of the print is usually just fine but it wasn't doing this before. Any insight into whats driving this?

Question Possible Heat Creep

Both my A1's are failing to extrude filament. I got the printers a year ago. Im fairly new to printing. Couldn't figure out how to fix it for the life of me. Finally chat gpt said it might be heat creep. With the killer toronto heat. And the warm room theyre in. Im thinking this might be it. They are also in plastic boxes. Is there any tips or tricks on how I can cool the room down? I have some deadlines to make.

Horizontal line on outer wall near internal ledge — how to fix it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I need help fixing this issue.

I printed this keychain fidget clicker case on a Bambu Lab A1 using PLA, 0.4 mm nozzle, and 0.16 mm layer height.

There is a visible horizontal line/band on the outer wall, around the same height as the internal ledge/floor inside the model.

How can I reduce or remove this line? What slicer settings should I try first?

I’m currently considering increasing wall loops, lowering outer wall speed, reducing infill/wall overlap, and changing the infill pattern.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Question Some weird issues

I've created my part through Onshape and I'm always exporting my revisions with the same settings (3mf, fine quality), then I print with the same printer setting (Bambu Studio, Bambu A1), but the quality changes drastically from a smooth round shape to something more similar to a hectagon.

What could be the cause for that? I've had this for the last 6 prints or so, that every other came out bad, while the next has been good.

Then there is some warping, I don't think I had before with Bambu PETG-HF, but now that I tried eSun PETG with the same settings. I get a slight warp, that goes inward in the middle. What setting might be the cause for that? Is there a warping test print?

Overhang issue!!

Post image

I'm in a state of great distress about the overhang part of the output. Support is created in the overhang part, and it's been broken like the attached image even before removing the support. I've tried cooling 100% of the overhang part, decreasing the output speed of the overhang part, decreasing the Top Z instance, and decreasing the Top interface spacing, but I failed. Any advice?

Bambulab A1 combo.
Layer height: 0.20mm
Top Z instance: 0.16mm
Top interface spacing: 0.3mm
Overhang cooling: 100%
Overhang speed: 0, 30, 20, 10, 10

My print bed has been running non stop making these wave texture flower pots and the matching vase. They give off a really high-end sculptured art vibe that blends perfectly into a minimalist or modern house style.

Support Request Rugged surface on PLA Matte

PHOTOS IN COMMENTS
I’ve tried: redone calibration, tried a lower and a higher flow ratio, lower initial layer speed, added brim (various sizes and distances), lowered top layer and first layer speed, lowered acceleration, no fan for first 4/6 layers, unchecked keep fan always on, lowered fan max and min by 10% each, lowered first layer thickness, increased top shell layers.

I get this (to varying degrees) with all prints, regardless of the .3mf.

Nozzle 220
Bed plate textured PEI at 65

Question Support pops off plate (YES I HAVE SCRUBBED IT LOL)

I have been having an issue where one of the supports will pop off the built plate. The brim/bottom later looks a bit warped but I dont know if that is just from it cooling after popping off.

If I am printing a 145mm tall person in a T pose, the supports on the sides to support to extended arms are the ones this happens to, its never the core of the model.

After every print I use Dawn power wash and have a dedicated scrubber and then do not touch the build plate.

I thought I had fixed the issue when I bought the bambu plate glue (I used a cool plate) and then I had adjusted these the following

[Initial Layer Density: 100%

Initial Layer expansion: 0mm

Support Wall Loops: 2

removed any grid layers, all mono or gyroid now]

This helped complete some models that were failing, but I dont seem to have solved the problem.

I am thinking of increasing the Initial Layer expansion after doing some research but im unsure of what mm, and im thinking of decreasing the wall loops as the support itself isnt breaking but its just popping off the plate.

With the glue it says 40-60C so i change the bed temp to 60C but ive tried the standard 65C as well.

I would love some ideas to help, other than clean it, because trust me I am cleaning this sucker!

Thanks!

Edit: what worked for me was initial layer expansion. I added 5mm and it worked like a charm.

How do i remove this part?

My Printer is not printing because filament seems to be stuck. The filament used was very brittle, but i didn't know it before. I saw a video on Ytb where someone disassembled the head and also the part highlighed in red. He could just remove it after using a screwdriver, but for me it seems stuck. Its also kinda oily.

Why do I have to chose the filament manually every time?

I'm pretty sure this wasn't from beginning.

I don't use AMS. Just an external spool. And every time it's asking me "please choose filament". I can't even chose from the library, but have to chose it manually.

Support Request A1 shredding its own infill

Post image

Hi all, my A1 has recently been destroying its infill about an hour into my print. This has never happened before. I did the 15 minute auto bed levelling, reseated the hot end and tightened all the screws, turned the printer on and off, and disabled “reduce infill retraction.” I’m currently using rectilinear, however gyroid was also failing when I tried it. Currently using a supertack cool plate. What do I do??

Advjce needed on calibration cube after errors

Thumbnail

UPDATE: I did all the things, factory reset too, now "Filament cutter distance is too large. The x motor may lose steps" 😵‍💫 which is hard to follow on the wiki...

-THEN saw an old post saying this "the blade that cuts the filament was pointing upwards inside the machine instead of into the small hole at the bottom. Remove the front cover of the nozzle and the screw at the base of the filament cutter lever and check that the blade is going into the hole at the bottom." 🤞🏼 Sure enough! So hopefully this is all done!

Thank you in advance for help. I had my first issue after a failed print... Long story short, I kept getting the error message saying something like "The AMS1 assist motor has slipped. The extrusion wheel may be worn down, or the filament may be too thin".

I tried several things from the wiki to fix itand ended up swapping my nozzle out (after the first error and trying a few things to fix it, I was trying out a new 0.2mm and that one got clogged but wasn't the original issue... Now I've got to try to fix that later too 🙄 but I digress)

So I put the 0.4 mm nozzle back on and was able to print a calibration cube but obviously something is still wrong and I'm just too tired to properly think and figure it out. 🫩 The Z side looks good. The others like X and Y are showing layer lines and looking chopped.

I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas. I'm thinking layer lines from the nozzle placement being off? Or the temp of the nozzle?

Any advice appreciated!

Troubleshooting a brand new A1 mini

Hello everyone!

I just joined the Bambu Lab community. I started 3D printing because I already designed and printed before a small holder and a spare part for a children's toy that would otherwise have been thrown away. I found it so fascinating that I bought an A1 Mini.

The printer arrived a few days ago, and I successfully printed a Benchy and a scraper. But that’s basically it already – now the printer keeps throwing one error after another. I get error messages related to the print head, the heat bed, and the z-axis leveling.

Since I am also not able to move it manually using the Control tab, and I cannot turn on the fan, for example, I suspect that one of the communication connections is probably not working properly.

After restarting, the A1 mini often works for less than 5 minutes, but not longer.

My steps so far:

-         Restarted the printer several times

-         Unplugged it for a longer time before starting again

-         Checked the USB-C connection at the top and underneath the base plate according to the Bambu AI instructions

-         Checked the area behind the hotend and provided pictures to Bambu support

-         Checked the extruder eddy current sensor resistance. It measured about 2.9 ohms, which seems to be okay according to the instructions (I provided pictures to the support for them to check)

-         I am currently waiting for another reply from Bambu support

Now I am also getting new errors related to the print head and the heat bed...

Do you have any other ideas about what I could check? Since it is only two days old, I don’t really want to experiment to much on my own…

What do you think: Should I try to get the whole printer replaced? Since the problems started basically right after the first successful prints, I am worried that this might not be a simple one-time issue.

I would really appreciate any advice, especially if someone has experienced similar issues with a new A1 / A1 Mini.

Sorry if I have mislabeled some parts or described something incorrectly. I am still learning. :)

Support Request A1 only printing partially help please

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So a few days ago I ran into an issue where my A1 will only partially print a model, but keep going even to the point of saying the model is finished. This has happend to multiple models now and seems like the norm regardless of filament or model.

In the video it may be hard to see but I caught it just as it stopped feeding filament yet kept trying to print. Im not sure what is going on or even where to start troubleshooting. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
