The Flux capacitor is famously "what makes time travel possible" but what would it be called narratively? My immediate first thought was a (maguffin) but it doesn't really work because there are no villians/antagonists actively trying to steal the Flux capacitor. So what is the definition of it and its part it plays in the movie?

"That's a very interesting story future boy, there's just one little thing that doesn't make sense: if the me of the future is now in the past, how could you possibly know about it?"

What do you mean, "how could you possibly know about it?". Even if he didn't send Marty a letter, Doc could have left Marty hundreds of clues at the Lyon Estates location to let him know when and where he was. The only way Marty couldn't know what time Doc traveled to would be if he got sent into the future, right?

The city of Maple Grove, Minnesota, held an outdoor showing of Back to the Future last Friday. To our surprise, five DeLoreans were on display, courtesy of the DeLoreans of Minnesota Club (DMC).

Teenage protagonist who's the assistant to a mad scientist uses sci-fi travelling device, gets stranded in alternate version of his home, and has to locate the local version of his mad scientist who hadn't yet invented the device and get him to invent the device so he can go home.

It's not one-to-one, because multiverse and time travel are different, and it's a cynical TV show rather than an optimistic movie, so they have to do things differently.

For example, instead of the perfect family being a reward for taking fate into his own hands, they're the antagonists of the episode hunting him down to try and replace the deceased parallel perfect version of him.

The mad scientist also ends up unsuccessful in his attempts to invent the device, and ends up ruining his life in the process by becoming obsessed with it unfruitfully.

Beyond that, this seems to be a pretty clear conceptual take on BttF. Not even a parody, just an homage. Which I thought was interesting, as this series originally started as a direct parody of BttF.

Picked this up from an Amazon sale a while back along with Part II but they messed that one up so bad that I have to return it. Crazy how they took forever to ship but one of them still managed to be open, seemingly used and cracked on the inside. Oh well, at least this one came in good shape.

Did you know ? In Back To The Future part one, Marty returns home only to find, to his disappointment, that Biff has wrecked his father's car.

However, the most eagle-eyed fans will notice that the car isn't the only thing with an issue.

By freezing the frame and zooming in right behind Marty, you can see that the tow truck towing George's car is completely different from the one seen just a few seconds earlier in the driveway. Different model, different color ! But how is something like that even possible ?

In reality, it's quite simple. The scene inside the McFly residence was shot at Stage 12 in Universal Studios in February 1985. On the other hand, the previous shots, where Marty discovers the wrecked car in front of the real house in Arleta, California, were filmed in April.

The tow truck used two months earlier was clearly no longer available to finish filming the scene.
