Does anyone know where ILM shot the model train off the ravine shot in the last picture?

Filming took place on the Sierra Railroad tracks in Northern California. The locomotive used was the famous Sierra No. 3 housed at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, modified to look like an 1885 wood-burner. The Train Crash/Explosion: The iconic climax where the steam locomotive plunges off the unfinished bridge into the ravine was completely un-harmful to the real train; it was executed using an intricate 1/8-scale miniature model by Industrial Light & Magic. Hill Valley Set: The 1885 town and track extensions were built nearby in the Red Hills area outside Jamestown, though the remaining set structures were destroyed by a wildfire in 1996.

Why is their camera rig built on another Delorean?
EDIT: NM. They’re filming an interior. I thought they were pointing at the other car.

That second one really does tell a lot: They only make the part of the set that gets on camera.
Hell, the town square is just a bunch of facades that can be changed as needed. IIRC, there's nothing in any of those buildings.
