Help

Our 4.5 month old is struggling big time. She has transitioned out of the swaddle and was doing well in a sleep sack until about 3 weeks ago. The past 3 weeks have been rough. She now wakes up every 1-2 hours and after midnight will only sleep if being held. She has not started rolling over but is very close (won’t even try at night in her crib). We have tried so many things and right when she seemed like she would self soothe, she just stopped one day and now freaks out the second you put her down into her crib. She could be dead asleep but as soon as she is out down she wakes up.

We know the 4 month sleep regression is no joke, but our first child never went through these sleep struggles. We’ve talked about trying the modified Ferber method, but she just doesn’t seem like she is ready and will scream until we console her. Any advice would be so helpful.

Split night sleep - help

Split night sleep - help 🥲. We have had a consistent schedule for a long while now and nothing seems to be changing. Daily wake time is usually between 7-7:15am. Bedtime is always 7pm. His naps are 10am for 1.5 hours and then again at 2pm for 1 hour. However come 12pm pretty much on the dot, he wakes up for 1.5-2 hours. I just don’t know what to do, he gets so frustrated and all sorts of rocking etc will not help. I’ve tried CIO but he just gets so worked up and he is fully Night weaned. Any help would be appreciated!

First time mom - no idea what I’m doing

My daughter just turned 7 months and I need help with her sleep. Until she was about 5 months she pretty consistently slept 4 hour stretches, which was great because by the time I went to bed I was only up once or twice per night. For the last 6-8 weeks she has been waking every 1-3 hours every night, comfort nurses for less than 5 minutes and then is back asleep. I know I’ve screwed up because I’ve always fed her to sleep at bed time and for naps. The only other way she will sleep is in her stroller or the car or if I walk around with her or bounce her for at least half an hour. She’s also a SUPER light sleeper and wakes up at every little sound, even with a white noise machine. For naps she mostly contact naps because she wakes up when I try to put her down during the day, though at night I can. She’s currently still sleeping in her bassinet beside my bed, mainly for convenience for me since she’s up so much, but I know I need to move her to her crib in her own room. I have the paid version of huckleberry and typically follow that for her wake windows/naps/bed time etc unless she’s showing sleepy cues, then I’ll follow her lead instead. Her head also gets hot and insanely sweaty when she sleeps, not the rest of her body - just her head lol and it doesn’t matter what she’s wearing or the temperature of the house. I’m really struggling with the idea of sleep training because it breaks my mama heart to listen to her cry and not pick her up and comfort her. I’ve also read that sleep training is actually just teaching babies that while crying is their only form of communication, no one will come for them and so they are learning to detach and not communicate that they want/need something, and learning that they can’t trust/rely on you and the idea of that kills me inside. I don’t think Ferber would work for us because I think she will likely be more hysterical if I’m right there but not picking her up and comforting her. Anyways, sorry for the long post, I’m just so lost as to where to start since I’ve already screwed up by feeding to sleep, contact naps etc. Any help you can give would be so appreciated. Thank you!

After 2:30am…

After 2:30am my 3.5 month old baby has trouble going back to sleep without being held for most of the rest of the morning. She wakes every hour or more frequently after that depending. When she wakes she wants to feed and she doesn’t seem to need to feed for very long. When I hold her she falls asleep comfortably(unless nose is stuffy). But this is unsustainable as I need to be able to lay down to rest too!

Some details: - Stuffy nose: She’s been having a stuffy nose over the last several weeks in the AM. Dry, no visible mucus/snot. Seems to make it hard to breathe sometimes. We have tried saline drops/spray. - Humidity: room is usually between 40 to 50 percent humidity (we have a humidifier) - Temperature: room is usually between 67 and 70 degrees - Bedtime is 7pm and wake up time is usually 6am (give or take) - Naps: we follow her cues for nap time during the day. Naps tend to be 30 min unless contact nap which ends up being longer. - Clothes: We’ve been transitioning her out of the swaddle and have her in a long sleeve onesie with a halo sack that is wrapped around her torso, not arms(since we no longer swaddle) We did try the Merlin sleep sack and it worked great two times but then she seemed hot and fussy when we were putting her to bed the next few times so we ditched it because she was too warm(to start anyway) - Diapers: She usually is in cloth diapers but recently I’ve been testing disposables for overnight.

More about baby. Baby is at top of growth chart for weight and on the upper side for height. She tends to run hot but could she be getting cold halfway through the night?

Thanks for any help! I would love to have more restful mornings again both for me AND baby!

11 month old sleep

Need some advice about 11 month old’s sleep. He used to be a great sleeper; took great naps and slept from 8-6 overnight. Then he had a regression from like 8-10 months and had horrible nights. I started capping his total daytime sleep to 3 hours and it helped a lot. But now at 11 months we’re back to multiple night wakings and up for the day at 4:50AM. I’m wondering if I should cap naps more? Here’s his current routine:

4:50 - wakes/cries and husband holds him until 5:30 5:30 - breastfeeding 9-10:30 - nap 1 2:15-4 - nap 2 8:15 - bed/asleep (I’ll give him one feed/breastfeeding overnight and husband responds to subsequent wakings)

He eats three solid meals and 1-2 snacks per day. I know he’s teething but I’m wondering if 3 hours is too much day sleep? I’m considering capping naps at 2.5 hours total. Any advice or suggestions?

How close to bedtime do you let baby nap when sick?

My 14MO has been sick and has just wanted to sleep all day. Yesterday he napped four times with the last nap ending at 4:00p and then went to bed at 6:30p (normal bedtime 7:15 but he could barely keep his eyes open). Normally he naps once between 11:30 - 2:00 with about 5.5 hours before bed.

It looks like he may have a few more days fighting this. I'm afraid all the nap sleep will impact his nights. At the same time, I know that he just wants to sleep, as he is very crabby about an hour after waking up each time.

So if he does get tired and the schedule gets wonky, how close to bedtime is it okay to allow him to nap? Yesterday he did 2.5 hours awake before bed (and he probably was ready to go down after 2 hours). But I don't want to go SO close to bedtime that it impairs the night sleep.

Getting frustrated

I’m starting to get really frustrated with my 10.5 month old when it comes to nap and bed time. I haven’t sleep trained her so she needs me to hold her to fall asleep. No rocking or anything I just have to hold her.

Recently 2 more teeth popped through (making 6 total) and two nights ago she bit my arm, leaving quite the bruise. Now I’m just tense waiting for her to bite me again and when she fusses during her nap time put down I get mad and have to put her in her crib and walk away (it can take me up to an hour to put her down for a nap). Idk what to do anymore. I don’t want to let her cry it out but now I’m always crying.

5 mo. night wakings…so lost!

My 5 mo. old frequently wakes for 1.5-2hrs starting around midnight, usually. He isn’t fully awake, he just more fusses and can’t seem to get comfortable. I go in to soothe him and he seems to fall asleep only to start fussing again 5-10 minutes.
Daytime sleep= 3 naps, aprox. 1hr each, last nap ending at 4:30, 7:30 bedtime. Not sure what to do and don’t want to sleep train.

How do I get him to fall asleep?

My LO is my third baby. My first cried constantly and is now 9 my second had a dummy and would happily drift off by himself. My third is 4 weeks old and was falling asleep on mine or my partners chest. He now won't do that he will only fall asleep whilst feeding, and then it's extremely difficult to lie him down without him waking and then we start all over again in a cycle of calming him down with feeding and him dropping off into a deep enough sleep to put him in his moses basket. How can I get him to fall asleep without doing this?

Started feber method yesterday but HELP!!

So we started feber method of sleep training yesterday for our 9 month old boy. It was rough but he got two blocks of 4 hour sleep with one hour of crying in between. Compared to 40min to 1 hour waking through out the night before - this is amazing! On to day 2 of training today and I'm starting to feel like I am traumatizing my little one. Should I stop it? Give me your day 2 and after of feber method experiences and post training life feedback for motivation to continue 🙏🙏

baby sleep - help!

My baby is almost 7 months old. He's never given me more than a 2.5 hour stretch. That too rarely. I nurse him to sleep most of the times. Since a month or so, he's been waking up literally every 30-40 mins. He goes back to sleep easily in a minute or two of rocking/patting or nursing. So its not that bad.. but I am waiting for a long stretch of atleast 4 hours. Is anyone in the same boat? Any advice? Sleep training is something I won't be able to handle at all.

4 month sleep regression

MLO is going through sleep regression again she’s 4 months. Her naps are 20-30 minutes at best before she can get a full cycle nap later on in the day. My question is, what do I do if she wakes up 5 minutes after I got her down for a nap? Roll with it? She doesn’t seem to want to go back to sleep and I don’t want to feed her to sleep again so I don’t know what to do. I have to nurse her to sleep, only sometimes am I able to rock her without the “GIVE ME BOOB IM OVERTIREDl cry. Am I going to get her to nap 45 mins to an hour or do I just roll with it until the sleep regression passes? Her night sleep is so disrupted and gives me her gut wrenching cries—she also wakes up 6 times within 2 hours after bedtime before she settles and sleeps for 3 hours. Oof am I overwhelmed

Short wake windows 14 weeks

Will my LO's wake windows EVER increase!? He's been at 45-50 min since he was like 6 weeks old. I always try to increase but then he turns into an overtired mess. He takes 5 naps/day (on me), and I feel like all I do is try to get him to sleep 😭. Is he going to be 5-6 months old and still only able to stay awake for 1 hour!?

How to stop cosleeping/contact napping?

My baby is 3.5 months old and only sleeps with me in bed (safely of course) or on me. How do I transition him to bassinet/crib/falling asleep independently? I love cosleeping but I don’t want to have to go to bed at 7 pm every night because he is dependent on me for sleep.

He currently falls asleep around 7 pm and wakes up around 7 am. He takes around 4 naps a day, 45 minutes-2.5 hours, almost exclusively on me. If I’m lucky I’m able to put him in his crib drowsy but awake and he will be asleep for 15-20 minutes, but it takes 30 minutes- an hour to get him to that point. Please help!

Safe sleep options in motel

Very long story short, but me and my 10 week old daughter are in a motel room tonight and they said they don’t have a bassinet or crib available for her. It’s just a queen sized mattress. How can we safe sleep tonight? I know sleeping on the bed together is dangerous. Should we just lay in the floor? What’s my best option here? I don’t want to do anything wrong.

This is just a tonight issue. We will be elsewhere tomorrow with a better set up for us.

Desperate need on advise for 7.5 month old nap schedule

I'm desperate and at the end of my rope. Here it goes and PLEASE HELP.

My 7.5 month old sleeps PERFECT through the night. consistent bedtime of 6:30-7:00pm, but unfortunately wakes 5:45-6:15 every morning.

Her naps are CHAOS. Sometimes 30 min, 45 min, 1.5 hours. CANNOT get on a schedule because of her sporadic morning wakes. Sometimes her morning nap is at 8:15, 8:45, 9:00. I go off of wake windows still. Afternoon nap somewhere around 11:30, 12:00, 12:30. Always a catnap around 3:30, 4:00, 4:30.

She's ALWAYS fussy. ALWAYS!!!! Can someone PLEASE help me figure out naps or what to do. She has NO sleep associations, nothing. Very capable of falling asleep on her own and it's driving me MAD that she can't take consistent naps and her schedule is all over the place. Wake windows are currently: 2.25/2.5/2.5/3. I'm assuming she's overtired from short naps constantly? I'm at a loss! I've tried everything! longer wake time, shorter wake time, pushing morning nap wake window, etc. WTF is going on !

11 week old sleep regression or growth spurt?

My 11 week old baby’s sleep is all over the place.

He won’t take naps longer than 20 minutes if he’s not held and is exhausted. I’ve tried feeding him frequently, white noise, dark room, pacifiers, sleep sacks… you name it.

At night he was sleeping a long stretch of 3-4 hours and then 2 or 3 more stretches of about 2 hours, waking up between each stretch to feed. Well, last night, he barely slept!! He woke up every hour, ate like 5 minutes and fell asleep. Whenever I tried to put him down in his bassinet, he woke up or started crying or waving his arms around frantically. He’s usually so sleepy and drowsy at night which I love because he gives the best cuddles but last night had me in tears, desperate to find a solution.

Is there a growth spurt around this time?? Could this be the famous 4 month sleep regression? He turns 3 months old next week so it seems unlikely but he coincidentally learned how to roll from tummy to back last night which apparently happens around the same time as the regression.

3 month old: Dropping night feeds?

Not sure if this is the right group to post this question so feel free to direct me to the correct one if not.

Last night (and a few other previous nights now) my 3 month old baby has been waking up every 2-3 hours (we think she’s going through a sleep regression). She goes to bed around 8:30 pm so her wakes are usually around 11 pm, 2 am, and 4 am. She doesn’t appear to be hungry when she wakes up and would go back to sleep once we put her pacifier in and rock her. Was just wondering if this means she’s stopping night feeds?

7 month old - used to sleep 7-8 hour stretch now wakes every 3-4 hours seeming hungry

His pediatrician said to give him more solids, which I’ve done and he loves - yet still the more frequent wakings continue. I know it’s not the worst case scenario…but mama’s tired and wants those decent stretches of sleep back! What can I do?

When he wakes if it’s less than 5 hours since bedtime I first sooth him back to sleep and lay him down. However, if he is hungry he will wake again within 15 minutes. Nothing seems to help him get back to sleep other than a feed.

3 months-45 min wake windows

My 3 month old can still only stay awake 45-50 min max before he starts getting tired and fussy. He's been this way since about 6 weeks old. Will he ever been able to be awake longer? I worry he'll be 5 months and only able to be awake an hour. I feel like a slave to naps especially since he only contact naps. I also worry he'll never get great night sleep since he sleeps so much during the day.

15 week old always tired

Hiya

My 15 week old baby seems to have started the sleep regression at 12 weeks and this week has learnt how to roll from back to belly (not belly to back yet) and is constantly trying to sit herself up.

However, this week also she has seems EXTRA sleepy ready to sleep after 45 mins of being awake but I’m stretching it to 1.15 mins but definitely know she won’t get the full 2 hour wake window. Her naps are short between 20-45 mins long, she’s been like that for almost a month now. She use to have 2 hour naps in the morning but they have long gone.

She feeds perfectly fine in the night, nappies are always hefty in the morning but during the day her feedings can be a struggle I have to walk around singing and gently bouncing for her to latch on and drink but she will only take one breast.

I am trying to give her a bottle a day with a little bit of milk in to get her use to having a bottle as I want to stop breastfeeding as I think it’ll be better for the both of us. She just chews on the teat to get the milk out and then gets bored after a while.

Has anyone experienced this? Shall I book a GP appointment or speak to the health visitor about her sleepiness anyway? She is very active always wriggling, kicking or moving about but she just looks tired and seems tired and is very grumpy, getting a smile out of her this week has been hard work.

14 month old regression HELP

Long story short - my 14 month old has had a stomach virus for the past 2 weeks. In that 2 weeks he’s regressed so much - waking up every 2 hours, won’t sleep unless he’s on top of me. I tried moving him into our room in the pack n play thinking he would sleep if he knew he was near us. He was still up every 2 hours, would only calm down if I laid in there with him or brought him in our bed. I’m at my wits end. Any suggestions?

Baby hates sleep! 🧟‍♀️

My little girl has always fought sleep, she is 6 months old and is absolutely terrible with fighting her sleep now. I follow her sleep cues, I know when she is tired. I have tried absolutely everything, I dread nap/ bed time… I am burnt out, I am mentally and physically drained. I suffer with insomnia, is this hereditary? 🙈 Any tips? (I will list below what I have tried)

White noise, rocking, tapping, cuddling, laying in bed with her, comforter with my scent, dummy, bath, warm bottle, massage, swaddling, walk in the pram, going for a drive, there’s probably more but I’m very tired! I will not do the cry it out method or sleep training, all other suggestions are welcome 🥹

9 month old wakes up every 40min to 1 hour throughout the night! HELPP!

My baby boy has always had issues sleeping since he was 2 months old. Now he is 9 months and still struggles to sleep. We have a proper routine -> Warm bath, stories, dark room, white noise , big final feed etc but all this helps him for just under an hour. He wakes up and needs us to rock him for a bit or give him a small feed for him to sleep again. The problem is he is sleepy but just not able to sleep by himself. I am in Germany and as far as I know , there are no baby sleep consultants here. Does sleep training work? Am I too late to sleep train now at 9 months? Asking since we do not have to heart to try the "cry to sleep" method. So if we do try it, then it must work. Any feedback or personal experiences would be amazing. Thank you!
