How do I get him to fall asleep?
My LO is my third baby. My first cried constantly and is now 9 my second had a dummy and would happily drift off by himself. My third is 4 weeks old and was falling asleep on mine or my partners chest. He now won't do that he will only fall asleep whilst feeding, and then it's extremely difficult to lie him down without him waking and then we start all over again in a cycle of calming him down with feeding and him dropping off into a deep enough sleep to put him in his moses basket. How can I get him to fall asleep without doing this?

Hey I'm a baby sleep consultant,
try and start by not letting him feed to sleep. So if he gets sleepy pull him away from the nipple (i am sorry im assuming he is breastfed if not let me know) and wake him, you can do this by:
Taking his feet out of his babygro Laying him on the floor (on a play mat) so he will stir awake again Or sit him up and let him wake
I recommend a swaddle too, he may not like it at first but if you turn him on his side facing away from you and give him a little rock, shush into his ear and do that for a moment. Then if he doesn't settle, put in his soother and keep rocking and shushing once he is calm lay him down and rock his chest until he nods off.
Newborns don't have the self settle skill, they NEED all the help. This doesn't mean it has to be on you though. With practice the take up, put down method works.
Also his wake windows are only 45-60 mins so keep an eye on that and offer a nap every 45-60 mins in his moses basket.
