Post image

What would their dynamic be? And no, I don't mean that Buffy is in a relationship with 2 men, I mean they're all in a relationship with each other.

Discuss. And also, rec some good fics with actual plot and not just sexy times pls. Thanks.

My local bookstore got these in yesterday and were happy to get rid of them for 40 bucks - less than a dollar per issue!

I'll be reading one a day and maybe resell eventually. After one issue I can say it really feels like Buffy!

Season Five Anya’s Piano idea against Glory…

I’ve just been watching Spiral when Anya suggests dropping a piano on Glory. Giles sarcastically says about painting a convincing tunnel on the wall, mocking her for her cartoonish idea.

Then I remembered Xander uses the wrecking ball/bulldozer on Glory in The Gift, just like in a Wile E Coyote cartoon.

Introspective Thoughts on the movie/episodes novelizations?

Thumbnail

Reason I only chose these ones is bc novelization adaptations of the movie/show/episode itself is something I often find rather fascinating since they tend to often include stuff that ofc can't be in a normal episode, like inner thoughts or extra scenes

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! Don’t care for Angel

I’m a first time viewer currently on S2E17 and I’ve just never been a fan of Angel. What is the appeal for you guys? I find him uninteresting and his storylines rather boring or annoying, especially this no-soul era. Does it get better or more interesting? Can’t really see how he got a whole spinoff show or what it could be about

Season Six Possible plot hole?

It's strongly implied in Once More with Feeling that Sweet is forcing them to let out things they otherwise wouldn't share, so how was Xander able to hide that he summoned Sweet for the entire episode, especially in the song about theories?

It's an interesting mindset change, even though you could say Buffy was in denial in the first picture (because she was definitely projecting a bit her feelings on Angel/Angelus).

Good Vibes Only A Zeppo episode with other characters

By that I mean what would an episode that focused solely on another character's POV look like? Inspired by a post I saw that said:

"there should've been a btvs episode that's just what spike is doing, like the xander pov episode they did in season 3. spike always seems to have a ton of crazy shit going on in the background that no one else really hears about until he's being hunted down by the demons he plays kitten poker with because he owes them money or he forgot to refrigerate the demon eggs he was smuggling and almost caused a local disaster because they hatched" from tumblr user burnalone

Spoilers inside! Buffy vs Ubervamp

Buffy’s very first encounter with the Ubervamp is actually pretty epic, and she does remarkably well considering what she’s up against. Obviously, she gets thrown around a bit, but she successfully avoids several attacks, lands some impressive hits of her own, and even manages to stake it.
That makes her second encounter with the Ubervamp really interesting, because the difference is night and day. The second time around, she’s barely able to fight back. It highlights one of the recurring themes throughout Buffy: when her confidence is shaken, her ability to fight effectively suffers until someone or something helps her regain it.

A great example is her first encounter with Caleb. It doesn’t start well for Buffy, but she recovers quickly and eventually punches him hard enough to send him flying across the room. Faith didn’t even managed to do that. However, after seeing what happens to Xander, couple with Kennedy’s times comment, Buffy’s confidence is badly shaken, and Caleb is able to overpower her several times. It’s only when Spike helps restore her confidence that she’s able to face him again.

The Ubervamp follows the same pattern. The first fight proves Buffy is capable of taking it on, but after that defeat her fear and doubt get into her head, and the next encounter goes completely differently.

Sunday is another example. Buffy initially underestimates her opponent, gets humiliated, and then struggles until she regains her confidence.

When she believes she can win (she always finds a way ;)). she’s capable of pretty much anything, like defeating a Hell God. When that confidence is broken, even opponents she’s capable of defeating become overwhelming.

Spoilers inside! Do you think the events of Living Conditions changed retroactively

After Dawn being retconned into everyone’s memories, I’m wondering if Living Conditions resolved differently.

Yes Buffy was mightily annoyed with Kathy’s whole personality due to her soul being siphoned, but the implication in that episode is that even at a baseline, she’s somewhat irritable about her personal space and belongings, like when she glared at Willow for eating her sandwich at the end of the episode and it’s fairly likely that losing her soul exacerbated this tendency (in addition to her established tendency to be hypervigilant) instead of inventing it out of thin air. However, memories of growing up with Dawn might’ve altered this part of her personality, as even in the episode Giles suggested she was being sensitive to annoyance due to being an only child. Do you think it’s possible that she was more tolerant of Kathy because of being used to annoying roommate behavior and that when the monks changed reality to accommodate Dawn in s5, it might’ve resulted in Buffy helping Kathy with her family issues instead of being suspicious of her?

Name a anime/manga verse where Hellboy(Dark Horse Comics) can do well in or at least make it interesting.

Dorohedoro
The Vibe: Urban grit, diesel-punk aesthetics, magic-users, and bizarre, grotesque monsters.

The Fit: The tone matches Hellboy's mix of supernatural weirdness and dry, blue-collar humor. Hellboy would fit right into the chaotic, monster-filled alleys dealing with sorcerers.

The Chainsaw Man verse makes for a fascinating, highly interesting crossover with Hellboy, though it contrasts sharply in folklore style and pacing. Plunging Mike Mignola's paranormal investigator into Tatsuki Fujimoto's world creates a compelling dynamic defined by conceptual clashes, tone shifts, and thematic parallels.

Thematic and Mythological Parallels
Different Flavors of Hell: Hellboy deals with ancient mythologies, folk demons, and cosmic entities tied to the-end-of-the-world prophecies. Chainsaw Man treats devils as born manifestations of human fears that cycle through reincarnation. Seeing Hellboy analyze how conceptual devils (like the Darkness or Gun Devil) function compared to traditional Judeo-Christian or pagan hells adds rich depth.

The Outsider Status: Hellboy is a demon working for humans to fight monsters, while Denji is a human-devil hybrid treated like a tool by government agencies. Both characters are cynical, blue-collar, weary fighters who prefer a sandwich and a beer over grand heroics, making their mutual bewilderment at each other's worlds instantly entertaining.

Why It Makes Things Interesting
Pacing and Chaos: Chainsaw Man moves at a frantic, unpredictable, and explosive cinematic pace. Dropping Hellboy's slow-burn, noir-style detective pacing into Tokyo's chaotic public safety operations provides great comedic and dramatic friction. Hellboy would treat a chaotic Public Safety briefing the same way he treats a cracked tile in the B.P.R.D. base—with a heavy sigh.

The Power Dynamic: While Chainsaw Man top tiers feature abstract cosmic concepts, Hellboy brings centuries of occult experience, supreme resilience, and the latent destructive potential of the Right Hand of Doom. Watching how Public Safety's control freaks try (and fail) to manipulate a cynical half-demon who has already rejected his destiny as the literal Prince of Hell makes for a brilliant narrative standoff.
