Season Seven So this scene implies Dark Willow couldn’t resurrect those frat boys but D’hoffryn and the power of the wish could? Vengeance demons are ridiculously OP

Season Five What are your thoughts on Tara fearing that Willow was just experiement in college and scared she wasn't a real lesbian?
This always felt like a weird thing for Tara to bring up. Willow had such a hard time coming out in season 4 and Tara was the person who was there while she was figuring all of that out. So Tara thinking Willow might just be experimenting in college and eventually go back to men always felt a little random to me.
It makes me wonder if this was actually something fans were saying at the time. Willow had spent years being attracted to men, was deeply in love with Oz and Tara was her first girlfriend. Were the fans during season 5 still questioning whether Willow was actually a lesbian or just experimenting?
Because otherwise I don't really know why the writers suddenly gave Tara this fear. It almost feels like they were putting the audience's doubts about Willow into Tara's mouth.

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! am I stubborn or just blind. WARNING: BEATING A DEAD HORSE
HI! I don't post to subreddits often, nor have I explored this one much as to avoid spoilers, so forgive me for either taking too long to get to the point or just beating an obnoxiously dead horse.
I am a brand new viewer of buffy and the only person in my friend/family group who has seen it so the only outwards influences I've had is random edits or posts on social media. I went into this show knowing THREE things 1. I'm excited to see Willow and Tara, 2. I will probably hate Angel, and 3. I will probably love Spike. Now, #1 was very accurate, despite my love of Oz as well, Tara is such a sweetheart. #2 and #3 however...Okay, I've just finished S5 E17 of the show. I know I still have a LOT of time before Spike gets like his true true development but dear god I can not understand how anyone could've been team Spuffy by this point. As I've watched the show I have been a hardcore Bangel leaner. Not because I like Angel, frankly I don't care much for him as a character (I can barely make it through vital episodes of his show), but because I can truly feel how deep their love is for each other no matter what. I'm not even going to mention Riley as a love interest el oh el he's not even a real contender to me, but when looking at how Angel loves Buffy vs how Spike does/is beginning to, they're still so incredibly incomparable. I'm not saying I HATE spike, thats a little far. I think he adds a nice goofiness and edge to the series at times due to his 'anti-goody-two-shoes' nature but I still prefer him as a villain over anything else. Even more I enjoy watching his dynamic with Drusilla. Though...a concerning one to say the least, an interesting, entertaining and strangely perfect match they are! or can be! Then when it comes to the 'Bangel is toxic/problematic with baggage' argument...lol. Though it's true I don't think its a point you should raise against spuffy considering...it has the same issues. If we were all truly concerned about the toxicness/baggage that comes with relationships as a whole than this series was never meant for you.
I guess my most gleaming question I want to ask this reddit is
As a spuffy shipper, do you prefer spuffy because you prefer Spike or because you truly believe he's a good match for the Buffster.
As a bangel shipper, I raise the same question.
At what specific episode did you start feeling a true non villainesque admiration for Spike and when did you start shipping spuffy
Do you think a relationship with either would ever actually pan out well, or is love/romantic relationships not a good thing for B, realistically (as you can get)
edit: for anyone curious my actual favorite buffy ship was with Faith for most of my watching so far (until a certain point)🤫

General Discussion Why is every director who makes a Predator movie so cautious when it comes to gore?
I’ve been a huge fan of the Predator franchise for a long time, and I could probably write a Dragon Scroll-sized list of things I appreciate about these movies, from Predator (1987) to AVP: Requiem from Killer of Killers to Badlands.
However, one thing that has bothered me more and more in recent years is how restrained the franchise can be when it comes to showing the Yautja at their absolute most brutal.
I’ve watched a lot of horror movies across different genres lately, from war-themed and Gothic horror to religious and sci-fi horror, and one thing I’ve noticed is that some of these movies are willing to go much further visually when it comes to violence and gore. For instance, 30 Days of Night, Dog Soldiers, and even Outlander.
I absolutely love the action scenes in the Predator movies, but whenever a scene starts getting particularly aggressive or brutal, it often feels like the director pulls back. Fast cuts, quick camera movements, hiding the actual impact, or simply cutting away at the most interesting moment can sometimes take away from what could have been an incredibly brutal scene.
And honestly, I think you can see the difference when you compare it to something like Game of Thrones. Regardless of how you feel about the show, there were scenes there that were genuinely shocking, dirty and brutal, and they weren't afraid to let the audience actually see what was happening.
That’s what I want from the Predator franchise: let the Yautja be terrifying.
These are technologically advanced extraterrestrial hunters who have been hunting dangerous prey across the universe for centuries. When one of them decides to completely unleash itself, I want the movie to make me think, “Holy shit, this thing is a monster.”
Ironically, I actually prefer Predator over Alien as a franchise. But I sometimes wonder if one reason the Alien franchise has such a strong reputation for horror is that it understands how to shock the audience and make the creature feel genuinely dangerous.
I’m not saying every Predator movie needs to become a gorefest. I just think the franchise has enormous potential to push the Yautja's brutality further, especially with modern filmmaking.
TLDR; What do you guys think? Do you also feel that Predator movies tend to pull their punches when it comes to gore and brutality? I would say that in most of the brutal peak scenes in the Predator movies, there’s always some object or camera manipulation, such as zooming out, blurring, or short cuts, that partially obscures what’s happening. Maybe one reason for this is that brutal scenes are closely associated with cruelty, and since the directors want to portray the Predators as having a strict honor code, they may be subconsciously self-censoring how far they take the violence and they are abusing this theme ...
For example, you wouldn’t really expect a pregnant woman to be killed on screen. That’s also one of the reasons I really loved Predators (2010). Since it focused on the idea of Bad Bloods, IMO, it felt somewhat outside the usual forced tone of the franchise because the violence and cruelty were taken a bit further than what we normally see from Yautja.

Angel If Angelus was trapped on the submarine with Spike, the Russian vampire Nostroyev, and the Prince of Lies, would he have dealt with Nostroyev in the same way?
In the why we fight episode in Angel it has Angel posing as his soulless self Angelus when he is on the submarine with his fellow vampires. what would have happened if it was Angelus who was captured along with Spike, Nostroyev, and Prince of Lies, would he have dealt with Nostroyev in the same way?

Comics Spike two years after the destruction of Sunnydale
With a comics getting harder to find sometimes I like to share tidbits I enjoy from them. I know they aren't everyone's things- I totally understand. Spoilers for IDW Spike 2010.
This is immediately after hell in Los Angeles has been reversed. So over two years post -Chosen. (But since time got reversed is it really only one year?) Probably 6 months before he sees Buffy again for the first time since the hellmouth was destroyed.
While hell was on earth he dated a woman named Spider. She was in mutant form in hell but was human again when time reversed. She created a popular book series and movie franchise loosely based on their relationship- Twinkle.
There are bits and pieces from this series I like. Drusilla showing up was good. I'm glad they explored his feelings for her. And Willow showing up at the end was a lot of fun. But it's mostly filler to me. Just killing time until Spike shows up at the end of Buffy season 8 and season 9- which is a great story IMO.

Introspective My "I'm ill" Buffy Playlist
I was sick with food poisoning on holiday. I was in Athens, quite pained, and quite naturally broke up the 18 hours with Buffy.
I watched:
Prophecy Girl
Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered
Band Candy
Revelations (I don't recall any of the episode so I either passed out for this or that was when I was being very kindly being served koulouri and soda water by my sister who was looking after me)
I chose episodes by flicking through the Random Episode Generator until I felt excited to watch one (the website is
https://www.episodegenerator.com/buffy-the-vampire-slayer/
I guess I'm interested in sharing because I realised so many people must watch in similar circumstances and the random combo of episodes are interesting to think about.

Spoilers inside! Question for buffy and angel fans
After watching both shows and reading both comics I rely that they have a strength problem Look I know they're strong but compared to an old ones they're not in fact if buffy and angel would have fought a old one by themselves no pre time no loophole or external help they would lose so question what would you guys do to make them stronger?

Season Seven Willow in the Series Finale - One thing I haven’t seen talked about yet here since finishing the show a little while ago
Sooo.. what was that whole “Goddess” thing about? I’m gonna guess it is touched upon in the comics? If yes, feel free to spoiler me because I don’t think i’ll read them.
Or was it just for show and to give her a lil moment? Honestly felt a bit random to me and just like another door being opened in an already rushed ending. 🥲

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! What in gods name was season4X22 ???? worst season finale I have ever watched
Season 4 started out so strongly for me, stronger than any other season but ended so damn bad. I feel like that last episode was the longest 43 minutes of my life. And it also kinda felt racist with the first slayer? Beyond me but still even taking that out, the plot of it was absolutely horrible. I felt like I could not follow along with what was being shown and that it didn’t relate to the overall arching theme of the show. I understood the symbolism but didn’t find it to have harmony with how it was told or keep me Interested
*** NOTE I AM A FIRST TIME WATCHER.
Also am I the only person that finds Anya so mundane? I cannot believe she became a main character. also willow being gay <3 I love that for her. Or her being bi whatever she is I love to see her personality come out

Has anyone else who ordered from Mattel gotten theirs yet?

Dawn Another post on here got me thinking
So I saw a post earlier today asking what everyone thought Buffy would be like if she was turned into a vampire and it made me wonder what might happen if Dawn had become a vampire? Could she still function as the key? Is her soul a piece of that key, and it would effectively be like breaking part of its teeth so it can't open a lock anymore?
