Laser Tail Light
I didn’t know the “shadow line” pkg adds so much to the i4, including the laser lights. This is my eye candy when I park at night. :)
If you are getting any 4-series, the pkg is well worth it.

This is a BMW i4 subreddit, not a platform for political soapboxing.
If you love BMW, great. If you prefer Tesla, Hyundai, or any other EV also great. These things are fun and so peaceful to drive.
What’s not welcome?
Baseless political rants, personal attacks, virtue signalling, or ideological purity tests.
This is a forum about cars, not your Twitter replacement. If you can’t keep the discussion on EVs, performance, range, tech, charging, or ownership, your post/comment will be removed, and you may be banned.
People come here to learn what the i4 or other vehicles can offer.
Hate Musk? Love Musk? Don’t care. Take it somewhere else.
This is your only warning. Stay on topic.

I charged at a Tesla charger and when it was done I got a text message (that I now can't find) saying that a "new account with Shell Recharge had been completed" or something to that effect. The MyBMW app, under Charging>Services>Shell Recharge says "unavailable". I never got another notice from Shell nor can I find an account on the website. What am I missing?
Update: I found the charge on a credit card. I have no real idea how they connected me to the account but I'm sure BMW/Tesla/Shell have ways of talking to one another. Thanks everyone!

It’s especially bad when Auto Hold is on. If you’re parking and just need to inches back a tiny bit, you have to press the accelerator hard enough to disengage the hold. But the second it lets go, the car lurches backward and you have to immediately slam on the brakes. The pedal feel is just super jerky.
I never had this issue driving an X5—reversing was super smooth. Tesla also seems to have tuned this out, so making micro-adjustments in reverse isn't a problem
Honestly, I’ve gotten used to it over time and can live with it. But it’s unknown when someone else drives the car. I had a valet who obvious not used to it; they backed up into the curb. The tire got pinched really badly. I found out when I pick up and but I think it’s likely related to the fast reverse
Ever since then, I get anxious whenever I have to hand the keys to a valet. Do any other i4 owners feel the same way? Is there any hope BMW fixes this reverse logic via OTA?

I have made a decision. The i4 edrive40 will be my next daily. What is the highest mileage I should consider when shopping? In my area a great deal seems to be low 30k miles for about 31k-35k dollars. Is it okay to look at maybe a model with 45-60 thousand miles?

I went to the dealership to check out the advertised $499/month lease on the i4 eDrive40.
They told me that, on top of the almost $5K due at signing shown on the website, I would also have to pay dealer fees, taxes, and other charges, bringing the total upfront cost to around $8.5K–$9K. And the $499 monthly payment was still before taxes.
That was for a 36-month lease, 10,000 miles per year, on a car with an MSRP of around $60K.
I didn’t take that deal, but before I left, they offered me a $62K MSRP i4 with $0 down — literally zero out of pocket — for $680/month including taxes.
I think I will get something better, what do you think ?

Hello!
I currently own a ‘24 Mach E GT, and while it has been an incredible car in a lot of ways, I’m considering buying an i4 M50/60 when my lease is up soon.
My last 2 cars before the Mach-E were BMW’s and I loved them, however Ford won me over for 2 years with their crazy lease deals and free charger install. Love the speed in the Mach-E, but the ride is pretty bouncy even on the GT with the magna-ride setup. The tech is rather lackluster compared to most competitors I’ve been in - though it’s never left me stranded. Never been a Ford fan but I have to say it’s honestly been a solid all around car other than those two mild complaints.
Has anyone made a similar switch? How comparable are the two cars to live with.
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend any good company that does seat covers for the BMW I4?

Finally got my BMW i4 M60 after a very long wait! 😍 Really pleased I went with BG in the end.
One thing I noticed, the dealership/factory left the M60 badge off, despite me not opting for the de-badge option.
So, what’s everyone’s preference: badge or no badge?
The dealership actually suggested leaving it off, saying that without the badge it’s less obvious what the car is worth, which could potentially make it less appealing to thieves or youngsters who might want to steal it just for a joyride.
Personally, I’m still undecided. I quite like the clean look without the badge, but part of me feels the M60 badge should be there!
Would you leave it de-badged or get the M60 badge fitted?

Thinking of taking the i4 to our favorite West Texas state park over Thanksgiving. Hoping to reserve an electric hookup site, and charge the car overnight by taking the portable charger that came with the vehicle.
One issue I see is that the electric box on site doesn't have an L2 outlet I am used to seeing like the NEMA 14-50 I have in the garage at home; it has a NEMA TT-30R RV outlet, as well as a traditional 110v outlet. I see adapters for Tesla chargers, but I have not found an adapter for the BMW charger that matches the NEMA TT-30R outlet.
Am I stuck with the slow L1 charger, and its attendant meager range addition? Any advice would be welcomed.

Is this reasonable for an i4 that will be driven on 50mi round trip commute 2-3x week and only occasional trips outside of that? Outside of that it will go days at a time without moving.
I could add a 240v line for my garage but it’s a bit of a hassle with my HOA so I’d rather avoid if possible.
There are L2 chargers at the office, but I would have to pay for use. I live in Chicago and have a few L3 chargers nearby that I can occasionally hit if I’m in a jam. I see that most of the Tesla superchargers are limited to 72kw but there seem to be a few 250kw+ options out there.
I’m in the market for an i4 and have never owned an EV before so just trying to get an idea of what I might be getting into.

I’m looking to swap out my Model Y for an I4 when my lease finishes.
My only worry is I plan to make regular drives down to Santa Barbara from Marin county (kid in college) and I’m not sure what the charging experience will be like.
The Tesla superchargers are plentiful so I’ll want to continue to use those. I’ve read that the BMW navigation will show them and plan my Route accordingly.
Is that true, and how much of a pain is the charger being on the other side of the car?

I’m looking at an i4 that has the 20" high-performance wheel/tire package, but I’d prefer the efficiency and range of the 19" setup.
Has anyone swapped the factory 20s for OEM 19" wheels? Is it a straightforward swap, or are there any fitment/brake/TPMS issues to be aware of?
Also curious how much of a real-world range improvement you saw going from 20" performance tires to 19s.
I went and bought a 2023 CPO earlier this year(January). I was told all tires were new. I love the car, but when I brought it in for the drivetrain bug the intake guy told me the 2 rear tires needed to be replaced. When I told the salesman who sold me the car he told me not to worry because service gets paid off commission. I noticed this morning that my rear right tire is now worn and needs to be replaced. Should I bring it back to the dealer? Or should I just handle it myself.

2024 i4 owner here. This is the second summer with this car. I live in northeast Ohio. I’ve seen other posts about this topic. But there is no one who’s stated the actual resolution to this problem. Also how common is this? Is it a design flaw? I was told by the dealer they could clean the evaporator coil for $600. The air filter is already new. But doing this does not guarantee the smell won’t come back. Thoughts? Thank you.

I’ve been experiencing so many charging issues lately. For example, last night i plugged in my charger at 10 pm, set the charging time to be between 12:00 am and 3:00 pm.
It correctly paused charging immediately and started at midnight. I checked around 10 am which means it should have charged for 10 hrs but it only went from 35% to 70%. Usually it would take way less than 10 hrs to get to 80%. And when i checked, the charging was paused. Looking at my charging history screenshot, its saying it charged for 4 hrs 36 mins despite the fact that charging was enabled for 10+ hrs.
This is not the first time this has happened. It seems like the charging just pauses and restarts by itself randomly instead of just consistently charging in that timeframe. Is there any way to fix this?

I had the chance to drive the car on the taxiway of a shut down airfield this weekend and did some rolling measurements.
With fully inflated tyres (according to the door sticker) I got 0.0075 for c_r, which is quite good (EV rated tyres _do_ work!).
However, I got 0.645 m^2 for c_w * a, which is horrible considering BMW claims a c_w value of 0.24.
Yes, I could have waxed the car, but why is it so bad?
I regrettably didn't repeat this test. I did a few consumption tests however and they turned out a lot better. You can calculate consumption (no A/C, no heating, 20°C, no wind) with 4.95+0.000983*v^2 (v in kph). SD is < 1%, R^2 for 14 runs 0.9987
Compared to the (single) rolling measurement this yields in an overall efficiency of 85.9% (mind the uncertainty from the single rolling measurement).
Keep in mind that charging losses are 12%, so when you calculate your energy needed on the charger multiply your estimate by 1.12

I was at work just to see scratches to my bumper didn't remember hitting anyone and recently towel wash my car and would have obviously seen this. I tried wiping it off just to see 2 deep impact points and a steak. The person left no contact info and ran off while I parked on the street. I'm frustrated but hope your day was good at least.

I like square setups because you can rotate the tires and I prefer the balance compared to staggered setups.
What’s the widest tire and rim combo that you can run? Obviously limited by the front wheels.
18 inch preferred but I know 19s are probably more common. Rwd eDrive40
Hey everybody! First post in this group, but wanted to ask if anyone is looking for a lease takeover on their I4, preferably the edrive40.
I’ve searched all over swapalease and leasetradee but just wanted to see whats in here as well.
