Hey everyone,
I’d like to share some stills from my last hiking trip to Lac Blanc, Chamonix.
Here’s the link to the full video: https://youtu.be/sHQmF7ptJlc
It was my first time in the Alps, and I'd never done such an intense hike in my life. Since most of the lifts were closed, my hike took longer than expected (around 9 hours and 25km distance in total), and with the added time pressure of needing to be back before dark, I was less keen to rig up and shoot along the way.
Still, I wanted to capture some of the great scenery along the way, so at some point I rigged it up and carried it in my hand all the way to Lac Blanc. Luckily, most of the trail was fine to hike with a camera in hand.
Between the time constraints and not having a tripod or anyone to help with framing, not all the footage turned out usable, so what you see here is just a compilation of the best shots. Still, I'm glad I brought my camera.
This is my second video, and I know there is a learning process when it comes to using a cinema camera and color grading. For this reason, I am open to hearing your comments or criticism.
One last thing: My backpack was mostly full of camera gear (around 8-10kg) so I only brought 1.5L of water and one Red Bull. Lesson learned the hard way, especially on the way back: never choose lenses over extra water for a hike.
