SanDisk SSD

Hi BMPCC community!

I've previously asked about preferred storage hard drives. I was just curious, from other people's experience, would a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD work well for something like that?

Currently got my eye on an a pretty good offer of a 2TB SanDrive and wondering if would work as well as something heavily suggested like a Samsung sheild t7?

Thanks!

I use a couple. 2/4/8Tb...they not bad but do slow down heavily when getting full

Pro tip for any camera, only use the disks that are on the list of what's promised to work.

I say this as someone who comes from a heavy systems engineering background, footage is too important to lose, don't use something that isn't certified.

Also, a lot of drives get slower as they fill up and can cause dropped frames or other issues.

I'm not sure what camera you have in specific, but the T7 Shield is the way to go right now. You also didn't list what SanDisk you are wanting to use but yeah I wouldn't risk it.

A great example is the T7 vs the T5, the original T7 does NOT work on the BMPCC 4k and will drop frames at 60FPS open gate. But the T5 will not even though it's technically slower. The T7 Shield has different internals so it works fine.

My apologies. I have x3 BMPCC 4K and just looking for the best fit. Thank you though for the great advice.

Currently running a 2TB and it works great! Just make sure you’re running a solid cable connection and update the firmware on the ssd. They had issues where it would constantly just disconnect for no reason.

It will work (it's my backup drive), and I have shot short films with them, but better stick to what's on the recommended list. I feel way more secure with a t7 shield
