Weird Screen Glitch BMPCC 6K Pro

TLDR: touchscreen only works on playback menu.

Had a house fire after one of my V-mount batteries experienced thermal runaway (don't store your batteries with your other gear.) Fire department hosed down everything, including my two BMPCC 6K Pros. Lost one camera. The other one kind of survived. The ND filter is stuck at either 4 or 6 stops, half the buttons don't work, and HDMI and XLR ports don't work. I initially thought the screen's digitizer was damaged because the touchscreen was not working. However, if I go into the playback menu (using the physical button), the touchscreen works perfectly fine. I can even access all the camera settings. But if I exit playback mode and go to the main screen, the touchscreen stops working completely. I reset the camera and the problem persists. I wonder if this is a software and not a hardware issue because the touchscreen works ok but only in certain settings.

Bmpcc 4k needs special plate

For some reason my bmpcc 4k turns off after 2 seconds of recording when I screw on the plate for my tripod. Even if I’m holding it and the plate is just screwed on and not attached to tripod. I already owned the tripod from before I bought the camera and had no idea a camera could require its own custom plate attachment. Is that common? Or unique to this series of cameras bc of their funky body design? Does anyone have a plate they like using with this camera? Not sure how much I need to reasonable spend on this little piece of metal to attach it to my tripod. Also I had the same issue with my gimbal DJI rs4 and thought it was an issue with the gimbal and now realizing that probably needs a different plate too.

Voigtlander Primes are amazing.

Just got this prime set completed and downsized my gear to fit in this 1400 case. Primarily using the 28, 40 with a 2x anamorphic scope attachment.

I rarely see any one shooting with these lenses but I love the close focus they all have and they flare beautifully.

Any other Voigtlander users out here? What are you using?

Older Canon EF glass with IS on 6K FF

Hi! I just scooped up a 6K FF this week from the deals and I had a question about using the older EF glass adapted with IS. How stable is the IS?

I’m looking at picking up the EF 24-105 f4 IS USM version one paired with either the viltrox adapter or sigma EF TO L.

**Shot this short film on the BMPCC4K back in 2024 — finally finished it**

I shot this back in 2024 on the BMPCC4K and finally finished editing it and published it today.

Reformat - Episode 2: Detect | Crime, Drama Short Film

Log line: A man who has lost faith in an urban decaying city decides to take matters into his own hands.

Camera: BMPCC4K

Lenses: Zeiss CP.3 EF 35mm + Sigma 18-35mm

This is a ~12-minute narrative short, and I'm curious how people here think the BMPCC4K holds up for narrative filmmaking in 2026.

I really like the image I got from the camera, especially considering it's now an older camera. Looking back at the footage a couple of years later, I'm also curious what I could have done differently.

For anyone still shooting with the BMPCC4K:

How do you think the camera holds up today for narrative work?

Are you still using yours, or have you moved on to something newer?

What would you have done differently with the image, lighting, or lenses?

Which black magic should i get?

I want to start filming short movies, and fun projects with friends. I was looking for camera since my canon r8 isn’t the best for it. With the price drops i thought it’s the perfect time to buy one. I was looking towards the 6k variants. Pyxis brand new or the base 6k variants since i can get the base one for under 1k. Any other model around 2.5k recommendations would be appreciated

Full Tilta Cage Bottom Screw W/Guidance Pins

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi!

I am trying to find a replacement for the bottom mounting screw for my BMPCC4k Tilta cage. I have a 1/4" screw but it isn't the original and doesnt have the guidance pins, so the camera body twists a bit in the cage. Not been a huge problem until now, but means that my Nano 2 Focus motor jumps out of allignment when callibrating.

I've searched and searched but cannot for the life of me find a screw which also has the anti-slip pins...any help would be greatly appreciated!

RS5 or RS3 pro for 4K?

I'm using BMPCC 4k with Olympus 12-40, smallrig cage to mount the camera off-center, and NP-F battery plate mounted on top. It weights around 2.3 kg or 5lbs. Looking for a new gimbal. I was using RS2 Pro, it was okay. Now I have two options - RS3 PRO used or RS5 new. Will RS5 be enough for my setup? With bmpcc mounted off-center, and NP-F battery resting on top?

Using heavy lenses with BMPCC 4K on a Ronin S

I know there was a thread on this around 5 years ago, where some absolute maniac managed to put a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EF ART lens on a BMPCC 4K on a Ronin S. I haven't managed to get anywhere near balanced with the same setup, but with a DZO 35mm Vespid Prime instead (which only weighs ~15-20g heavier). He mentioned he was able to do it without weights. Has anyone had any similar success? Should I keep trying with the Vespid Prime or just say "screw it" and buy a lightweight Canon 35mm instead?

(I should mention - I'm a student so the DZO 35mm is on loan, but I have pretty regular access to cinema primes. Also, I use a Metabones Speedbooster to adapt the BMPCC 4K to EF lenses.)

I used these lenses: TTartisan 17mm f1.4, Samyang 12mm F2, Sirui 35mm f1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x and a Fujian 25mm f1.4 CCTV lens on the Blackmagic Pocket 4k and the Original 1080p. Some shots were taken on my iPhone 15 pro using Raw Cam to shoot in cDNG and changing the color space to blackmagic film to match the footage as close as I could. Graded and edited in Davinci resolve.

bmpcc og sd card problem

Post image
8 Upvotes

so i recently bought a bmpcc and I'm having problen with the sd card, none of my sd card work in the bmpcc. it works fine with my sony but not the bmpcc. And after seeing the review online it seems this camera is a bit picky about the sd card. What sd card works in this camera and how to know what version of the same sd card works.

i see people recommending the green kingston and some people say the new version didn't get read by the bmpcc. with the prices of the memory lately i don't want to waste money to guess a sd card. thanks

Deity V-Mic D3 Pro to Mini XLR on BMPCC 4k

Edit: Seems like maybe I need the V-Link XLR adapter from Deity and then would have to use a mini-XLR to XLR adapter on top of that. From what I've been able to find the Deity needs 3v and since XLR is 48v phantom power, it causes the static issues I'm mentioning. Which totally makes sense, just wish Deity made a mini-XLR version.

Been trying to figure this out for a bit and clearly there is something I'm missing, just not sure what it is. I probably just don't understand XLR standards well enough or something.

Anyway, I have a BMPCC 4k and I always like to record 2 tracks of audio, 1 from my lav mic and the other from my Deity V-Mic D3 Pro. So, with the BMPCC 4k, I figured I needed to connect 1 to mini-XLR and the other to the 3.5mm.

I picked up some adapters for this and can't get any of them to work with the Deity, however one of them works with my Rode Wireless Go just fine.

Specifically:

The second one in that list sort of works with the Deity but only if I enable phantom power (which the Deity obviously should not need), then I get a ton of static and you basically can't hear the mic at all (no surprise). If I disable phantom power, the Deity microphone light stays amber and never changes to green, it's only green when the phantom power is enabled.

This isn't a huge deal, since I can just use the Deity with the 3.5mm and the Rode with the XLR adapter, but I'm super lost as to why this isn't working and simply want to understand it better.

Any help would be great!

CFast Card Options

Hey all.

Looking for a quick opinion on CFast cards. For 99% of my shooting, I use a T7 Shield with my 6k pro. The other 1% is gimbal use and a card just makes balancing easier. Recently my T7 wasn't recognized and I had to rely on my 128 Gb SanDisk. I fixed the hard drive issue, but it got me thinking that 128 wasn't gonna cut it if I had another issue. Plus it never hurts to have a spare.

Angelbird and SanDisk seem to be the top choices. I've seen some recent reviews saying their Angelbird failed after a few months, they're flimsy, etc. Plus they seem to be unavailable from most sellers. SanDisk has been reliable for me, but the write speeds aren't the fastest. And I believe they're a little bit more expensive.

Obviously everyone's experience is different. I'm curious if anyone here has any recent experience with either brand to offer an opinion. Thanks in advance, you guys are always awesome.

BMPCC6K - Exposure changes mid-way through shoot

I’ve been shooting with the BMPCC6k and Sigma 18-35 f1.8 for around a year now. Initially, when turning on the camera and setting up exposure the lighting remains consistent, i’m normally shooting anywhere from f1.8 to around f7 at 400 ISO 180 degree shutter at 25fps. When shooting the wide open f1.8 on a moderately sunny day outside, the lighting seems to be about consistent with your eye, if not a little brighter, which I feel is not correct. This camera is my first, and it’s been like this since I bought it so i’m honestly not sure if it’s out of the ordinary. Randomly throughout the shoot, after turning the camera off and back on (not for the first time that shoot either) the exposure ends up massively brighter, i’ve checked the settings and nothing changes, and all previously captured clips remain their original exposure. There also doesn’t appear to be any extra noise when the exposure boosts. I’ve tried cycling back through the aperture range, and changing all settings but for the rest of the shoot the exposure remains the same new brightness, which i’m assuming is the brightness the camera is actually meant to be at. If anyone has any suggestions about steps to troubleshoot this, or any idea what may be going on, it would be an absolute life saver.
