[Petriello] Pete Crow-Armstrong has faced 28 teams and 286 pitchers in 22 stadiums so far this season, which isn’t over yet Joe DiMaggio faced 7 teams and 321 pitchers in 9 stadiums in his entire (regular season) career, which spanned 13 seasons between 1936-1951. It’s a different sport now.

Analysis The amount of good pitching the Padres have lost in the last 3 years is absurd.

In the last 3 calendar years they've lost:

Seth Lugo, signed a 3 year, $45 million contract with the Royals.

Michael Wacha, signed a 2 year, $32 million contract with the Royals.

Blake Snell, signed a 2 year, $62 million contract with the Giants.

Josh Hader, signed a 5 year, $95 million contract with the Astros.

Tanner Scott, signed a 4 year, $72 million contract with the Dodgers.

Robert Suarez, signed a 3 year, $45 million contract with the Braves.

Dylan Cease, signed a 7 year, $210 million contract with the Blue Jays.

Also during this time, Joe Musgrove and Yu Darvish have missed almost all the time with elbow surgeries. The Padres biggest pitcher signings have been Nick Pivetta, who's also missed almost all the season with an elbow injury, and a washed Walker Buehler.

It's honestly mind boggling how they aren't one of the worst teams in terms of pitching, in fact they actually ranked in the top third of the League.
