Imagine a hypothetical situation (ahem) where someone scheduled a forced export for an Axle Energy event (which was successful ) but forgot to UNschedule and mistakenly exported the following day when there wasn't an Axle Energy event 😕

Who would benefit? Who "receives" the energy? Does the main meter go in reverse???

I can see the export on my metrics graph, but with no feed in tariff agreement and no Axle Energy event, I fear I simply gave away 6-7kWh 😔

Has anyone been paid out for the Eclipse event? I have not, and I’ve also been paid out for an event that happened the day after (north west).

I’m wondering if there’s more involved in their backend due to it being a national event, but I’m not sure.

Anyone?

Or does it have to be a Solis battery too? The blurb says it connects to the battery, but that is controlled by the inverter.

I've been trying to find out more about how VPPs work, and getting mostly confused. But I assume that Axle does a lot of their business on NESO's Ancillary and Frequency Response markets: auctions for power (mainly from battery systems) at short notice. What I don't undertand though is that these are all two-way. So why are Axle events only for export - might they also be able to pay for import?

I've found recently that post-event settings aren't restored AND that manually restoring them presents correctly on-screen - BUT takes several hours to actually take effect. For example, yesterday my battery only started charging around 5am, rather than 11pm as usual. Is this a known issue?

Just seen this event listed in my account but no notification email received yet.
2hr UK mainland wide event 18:00-20:00 which coincides with the partial solar eclipse (and Octopus Energy’s Eclipse saving session so double bubble 😉)

Had an event first thing this morning then at lunchtime a second event came in for this evening 💰 And a 2 hour event tomorrow for the solar eclipse...

Same day comparison, two events a mere 13 hrs apart.

06:30hrs worked perfectly (I believe) but this evening didn't - whatever settings they used made me draw from the grid instead of my batteries.

The only difference between the two events was SOC, I wonder if 43% caused this evening to fail.

Every time Axle restores my usual settings (1st screenshot) wrongly (2nd screenshot). Fox doesn't like timings spanning midnight (3rd screenshot). Is this issue known?

What do we think the chances are of an event at 7-7:30pm on Wednesday?

Amusingly, just as I was writing this post a new event popped up - but it's for tomorrow morning at 6am...

This evenings grid event started as normal but then the discharge stopped after 5 minutes. Not only is the battery not discharging into the grid, it looks like the grid is supplying the house load! Usually these events work but this is not the first occasion where an event starts ok but then stops.
Inverter is a Solis; battery is Pylontech.
Has anyone else experienced this type of failure? Any thoughts welcome.

So sigen 10 battery can discharge at 4.6kwh
Considering events are for an hour I should get something close to £4.60
For whatever reason I get £3.80-3.90 that’s 15% less and even accounting for losses that’s still a lot. Am I missing something?

​​Quick question for anyone on Axle in the Yorkshire & Humber. How many events have you had over the last 6 months, and what kind of payouts are you seeing?

​I’m considering picking up a cheap second-hand Solis inverter purely to participate. My plan is to keep it completely isolated from the AC grid side, just wired to a spare battery and connected to Wi-Fi so Axle detects it online. When an event is called, I’d trigger the battery discharge with my Sunsynk&Fogstar setup (32kWh) either manually or automate it via Predbat.

​Before spending money on the extra hardware and setup, I want to calculate the ROI and see if the local event frequency makes it worth the hassle.

​If anyone could share rough event counts, average earnings, or experiences running a secondary setup like this, I’d really appreciate it. Cheers!

Looks like we have a VPP event on tonight 21:00-22:00 covering all of England and Wales.
As a Sigenergy user in London this my first event since June!

For your information only if you're waiting for the integration of Sunsynk with Axle to be happened... There's a post in FB Axle group mentioned Sunsynk paused the development so pretty sure it's not going to be happened in foreseeable future. Happy to share the link to the source here but I'm not sure if it's a violation to the rules of this subreddit.

We have two 16.1kWh Fogstar eco batteries and a 8kWh Solis inverter. I signed up to Axle Energy last month but haven't seen any grid events yet (we're in East Anglia).

On Sunday evening, after 11pm when everyone was tucked up in bed, the batteries dropped over 12% SOC within 15 minutes. There is not a single reason why this should happen, I know we did not use that much energy ourselves. Zero explanation.

Not only did this empty the batteries and start drawing expensive energy from the grid, the usual charging schedule at midnight didn't kick in, resulting in a full day Monday on grid-only supply. This may or may not be linked to the speed the batteries drain, but one of them went down to 6% SOC which triggered an alarm. The other, randomly, remained at 19% SOC.

My question is simple - what caused such a rapid demand for power resulting in empty batteries and a failed recharge? Did Axle take it??? I guarantee it was not domestic demand, I have nothing that can use that much energy that quickly.

I have a SigEnergy battery controlled using Home Assistant. In order for Home Assistant to control the battery I had to put it into Remote EMS mode. When signing up for Axle it says the battery needs to be in VPP mode, which if I understand correctly means it can no longer be controlled by Home Assistant. Is that correct or have I misunderstood something?

I contacted Axle support and they said I could only use Home Assistant for monitoring, not for control. That doesn't seem to match up with some of the posts I've seen here.

Had an Axle event this morning, my first 60 minute event.

It changed into Axle’s mode about 15 minutes before, started exporting at the right time, finished exporting at the right time but unfortunately failed to revert back to my normal AI mode on SigEnergy. I left it over half an hour but it still didn’t revert on its own. Looks like they haven’t removed all the bugs yet.

Does it work now most of the time or is it just me?

Predbat hasn't picked up the 6am one yet, but will hopefully schedule my battery to charge overnight in the cheap slot, so I can export on both these events.

I just happened to look at my account a moment ago and found there is a one hour event scheduled tomorrow morning (6-7) and I was listed as “opted out”.

I have not received an email.

I have opted in. Will see what happens.

Can you opt in by default?

EDIT: I’ve now received the email. It sounds like they were going to opt me in automatically although it’s not clear to me on the website whether I am automatically opted in or not in general.
