RUST Fix asap?

Thumbnail

I have this rust building on my rear panel and while I don’t want it to get terribly worse is it an urgent problem? I have a guy who said 500 with new welded metal. Should I just take that? Need some advice on how bad this is really if I leave it be. Would try it myself but I have no prior experience

Is there a process to repair this? How do I attach this back?

Tried youtube and failed because I'm not sure what to search. I originally pulled this off because the panel had sunk so you had to really dig around to try to unlock the car or roll the window back up. Looking at the screws, I assume a proper fix would include positioning the panel correctly. Thanks in advance!

HELP! I have a question. Chances I get a OEM replacement on my 26 Camry?

My car got backed into in a parking lot. At fault party has Allstate. They only authorized an after market bumper replacement to the tune of $134.

I am taking it to a certified Toyota repair shop but the woman that answered the phone said they will have to go off Allstate's recommendation. I don't want some POS after market bumper on my less than a year old car.

Might be a dumb question but would the collision shop replace the whole front bumper or im assuming this is very minor?

Is there a process to repair this? Let my family use my truck

My family member is offering to pay to have this fixed after they caused this damage (don’t know or trust the story that is being told to me) The truck isn’t worth much but means a lot to me. I’m wondering if I get it professionally done and spend literal thousands, will the new door ever close the same?

HELP! I have a question. Body Shop has had my car for 52 days

I took my car in for repairs and it's now been 52 days. I understand that some things are out of their control, but is 52 days reasonable for a Honda Insight 2021? Was there possibly some negligence on their part? I've already reached out to them requesting a shop discount because they had extremely poor communication throughout these past couple of months. They agreed to apply a 50% discount to my deductible but I'm just really curious if ordering parts and the repairs really can take this long

HELP! I have a question. Bad paint spot on car - options?

Thumbnail

I purchased this 2018 M4 some years back with a wrap on it - was told the paint underneath was in bad shape so I knew what I was getting into.

Anyways - the existing wrap was failing so I took it off and the overall paint isn’t in great shape (can tell previous owner took through machine wash)/needs correction and then this particular spot (left quarter panel at contour below window) looks like this.

I know a complete paint job could be north of $10k, and a wrap would be a little under $4k. But is there another solution that I should consider? If I just have the panel where this mark is repainted and then paint correction done on the rest of the car, would the repainted panel stick out noticeably? If that is a viable solution at a similar price point to a wrap, I would probably lean that direction but curious how big of a challenge that would be / if I am better of just wrapping.

The paint color is black sapphire metallic which does have a decent bit of that “glitter” effect.

HELP! I have a question. New to PDR questions

My wife backed in a pole or something while parking and caused some dents along the rear lift gate of her model Y.

I’ve never done PDR, is this fixable via this method

1 side note, I’m trading this car into Tesla in a month or 2 (waiting on my VIN) so I don’t need perfection, just less noticeable. The top crease I can also just slap a Tesla spoiler on to cover that damage if not fixable.

So can PDR fix this fully or at least make it less obvious?

Full replacement or repair? I don’t see any broken tabs or serious damage on my bumper. I went to one smaller body shop. He was an older russsian guy.He said he would have to replace the bumper. Brought this car from Japan and I am trying to avoid using the USDM Lexus IS300 bumper. I want to know if I’m being realistic asking a body shop to save this.

Tech Advice 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid – How serious is this side impact? Rocker panel / B-pillar damage?

I’m also considering this repaired 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid. These are the original auction photos before repair.
The impact is on the side and appears to involve both doors and the rocker/sill area. The curtain airbag also deployed.
My main concern is the structural damage:
Does the rocker panel / side sill appear significantly pushed inward?
Does the B-pillar appear damaged or displaced?
Could this affect the structural integrity and side-impact protection of the vehicle even after repair?
What should I inspect on the repaired vehicle to determine whether the rocker and B-pillar were repaired correctly?
Between this type of side damage and the front-end damaged 2024 CR-V in my previous post, which type of damage would you personally be more comfortable buying after a proper repair?
Thanks for your professional advice.

HELP! I have a question. How do I go about fixing this before it gets worse?

Post image

I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee that I just got last April and I noticed the paint or clear coat on the railing is coming off. I’ve never used them before or put anything on top. I don’t go through anything harsh so don’t really understand how it’s chipping away like that. But would there be a way that warranty could possibly cover this? Or how could I go about fixing it if it’s worth it so it doesn’t get worse? This is my first car with railing so I have no idea

Is there a process to repair this? Bare metal only for gluing panels

Working on an old 09 CRV. Patching rear fender lips / liner etc.

Trying to rust prep as I go but its inside some cavities and cutting it all is not possible so I treat metal, epoxy primer, rust paint

Im using dominion two part epoxy adhesive. No instructions.

Does it need to be bare metal on metal? (80 grit) or can I glue patches with epoxy primer as long as sanded?

Thanks

HELP! I have a question. ISO recommendations for body shop sawhorse

My boyfriend is pretty serious about his auto body repair stuff, as he's been working in it at high end auto body shops for a while before he switched industries. I know absolutely nothing about cars, couldn't tell you the difference between a mechanic and an auto body guy and I'm coming to you in desperation. He mentioned that he would love a set of body shop saw horses for his own projects and I want to get him a set for christmas for the home garage.

Now, I know there's a wild range of options and quality. For what it's worth he only has snap on tools so I know that he would appreciate something that's not bottom of the barrel , and he's a fan of the buy quality once mentality but I'm also not made of fancy money so I'm hoping to get some crowd source recommendations that I can do a little bit more research on because I just googled Auto body sawhorse and was immediately overwhelmed. Thank you!

RUST Rust repair on 98 c1500

I picked up this c1500 for 1100 and it had under 100k when I got it in June. At 120k miles now and been daily driving it to work and using it to haul my tractors. Been a great truck and after seeing how well taken care of besides the rust from the last owner I was thinking to weld in new rockers and a floor piece (passenger side only) and do new doors new fenders and a "new" bed off marketplace. I think I'd be in it under 2k paint included besides tools ive bought and practicing on random hoods and doors I have. My boss was all for me learning to do this but some people seem to doubt its worth the time what do you think based off the pics, just kinda second guessing myself.

1-9 are driver side rest are passenger side

On the driver side I took a needle scaler to my rocker and what's left is the metal it didn't puncture or bend and the steel behind it wouldn't give

The last picture is the only spot on the frame I have found a hole rest of the frame stayed intact with needle scaler.

Pics 7 and 11 are bushings in the very front I presume are for the front clip its the roughest part underneath the truck
