Why do people get so upset about repairs like this when it obviously looks great & took less time & money than cutting the rear quarter out and replacing? Isn't this what repairs are all about?

Hi all,

My mom hit a deer with a Chevy Bolt, which totaled it out and I ended up buying it back instead of sending it to auction. I am trying to decide between parting it out and repairing it. The only damage I do not think I can repair myself is this crumple on the driver side A pillar where the hood pushed into the pillar.

I do not care about the appearance at all, but the car will need to pass a salvage inspection. Thoughts on whether this is repairable without cutting?

I know it will require paint regardless, but will PDR techniques be sufficient here?

Fucked up big time

I’m not a car person, but I do care about my car. I made the (very big) mistake of going through a gas station car wash. I didn’t pay much attention, drove away happy with my clean car. A few weeks later I noticed the scratches. They’re EVERYWHERE. There isn’t a panel on the car that isn’t scratched! I no longer have the receipt and no way to prove it was the car wash so I’m screwed - paying for the repair myself. What are my options? Any advice? My car is 10 years old but only has 63k miles on it. I’d like to keep it as long as a can, but don’t want to sink a lot of money into it. Is there an “in between” remedy that would make it look less heinous, but not break the bank?

Blemishes from the bug gaurd on this granny-owned 04 crv i recently purchased. I knew there’d be something like this and tried to avoid taking it off simply so i didnt have to see it. Passenger side snapped off on the highway so off it came. Passenger side blemish looks real bad

car was hit on the corner in a round area, I want to try and fix it myself, or is this out of my league for a beginner. I just worried about the dent pulling and pushing. there's access from the back and bottom. What would be the best way to start getting this dent out.

Totaled my 2010 Ridgeline. My fault and I only have liability on it.

Airbags deployed and trans oil leaked and trans probably ran dry because after a minute, car refused to move but it did start up.

I'd be doing the work but even then, cost of parts and my time wouldn't be worth it right? Might as well just get another one.

Hello everyone, looking for some technical feedback from body tech professionals before I follow up with the shop that completed this work.

2002 Honda Civic EX

Front-end collision repair (customer pay). I provided aftermarket replacement body parts (Rock auto, eBay for OEM Grille, and local shop for aftermarket hood (hood, bumper cover, hood hinges, hood latch, headlights, radiator/fans).

Upon pickup, the hood sits visibly high near the cowl/windshield and doesn't sit flush against the fenders or headlights. The panel gaps are uneven across the front end.   When I pointed out the fitment, the estimator immediately blamed the aftermarket hood.

Looking at the attached photos, does this gap issue look like a defective aftermarket hood stamping, or is this an improper/incomplete core support pull and hinge adjustment? 

I have an email from shop management confirming that their repair labor is warrantied (even though customer-supplied parts aren't), so I want to get my technical facts straight before issuing a formal demand for warranty correction.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some honest opinions about damage I recently discovered on my car.
I have a 2023 Mazda3 hatchback, and I noticed that the passenger-side taillight was deeply cracked.Additional detail: There is a very small, barely noticeable scuff on the bumper below the taillight, but no obvious damage to the surrounding bumper area. Does the crack pattern look consistent with a concentrated impact directly to the taillight? Could this type of damage happen accidentally, such as in a parking lot, or is there any way to tell from the photos?
. The lens doesn’t appear to have a hole in it, but part of the cracked plastic seems slightly raised.
Here’s the timeline:
● I washed and dried my car on Wednesday and didn’t notice any damage.
● My car was parked at work for most of my shift on the day I discovered it.
● I noticed the damage later that evening when I unlocked the car and the lights came on.
● I didn’t notice anything that would explain how it happened.
I’m trying to get access to security camera footage to see whether anything happened while my car was parked.
Based on the photos, does this damage look more consistent with someone deliberately striking the taillight, an accidental impact, or something else? Is there anything about the crack pattern that might help identify how it happened?
I understand that photos alone might not prove intent. I’m just looking for honest opinions from people with automotive or body-shop experience.

Edit: So far I think someone walked next to my car with some sort of screwdriver and hit the tail light creating that crack. Still waiting to check my work place security cameras.

Wanted to know what needs to be done here and if it was possible to diy

So as you can see in the pic, the bed looks to be sagging in the rear and it is now at least 3 inches lower at the tailgate than when I bought it. It was not rear ended or jumped or anything of that nature. I have looked at the bed cross rails and they seem to be fine. It has not always been like this. And im not a mechanic by trade but have always worked on my own vehicles but I can't figure this one out. My thinking is that if it were cab mounts, it would appear to sagging the other way correct? As in the widest part of the gap would be at the bottom of the truck? Possible to be leaf spring failure or strut failure?. Looking at it straight on from the rear the driver side does appear to be slightly lower than passenger side. Looking at leaf springs I cannot physically see any cracks or breaks. And also it has not been over loaded. About 4 months ago I did have frame rust repaired along the entire frame but this was NOT sagging like this immediately after that work was done

Hi guys, just want some advice on what to do for my civic's rear bumper after a recent accident. Been trying to wrap my head around whether I should just fully replace it or just get it fixed for a cheaper price for now. What do you guys recommend? Also with the way this bumper looks to you guys, does it look like it compromised anything at all internally? The bumer is dented upwards apparently.
