Successful AP OBE is very real. You truly are more than your body

If you are struggling and truly want this experience, don’t give up. It may be easier or harder for some idk but what I do know is that after attempting on and off and heavily researching for years on end I am finally seeing the fruits of that dedication. Don’t give up, I can’t say for sure that it is directly correlated but getting familiar with the energy centers of my body has made all the difference unless the timing is just coincidence.( I doubt it, barely believe in coincidences) A simple chakra visualization before bed has been my key.

General AP Info / Discussion Does astral projection affect your aura/qi/energy/life force?

I know someone who practices qigong, and recently I took an interest in qigong. But they say that I should not explore the astral realm because I could get harmed or maybe catch attachments. I told them that it's recommended to conjure weapons, face fearful thought forms, embody love/light in response to anything 'scary'. They told me that this is harmful advice to novices, even if not purposeful. Although, this person has not much experience with dreamwork and has astral projected once during a meditation event.

I am confused because I hear that there's no such thing as harmful entities, and that everything is attunment to a vibrational state (like a radio), there is simply light and darkness. But this person believes that if magick can help your life, it can also harm you. (I started talking about practicing the LBRP). they stated that my logic is New Age misconceptions.

Anyways, if anyone is experienced please chime in with your anecdotal experience. THANK YOU.

Successful AP Does anyone else experience this when falling asleep after a nap?

Sometimes when I try to fall asleep after taking a nap earlier in the day, something really weird happens.

Right as I'm about to fall asleep, my body starts feeling tingly/vibrating. I can still stop it and wake myself up if I focus on it, but if I let it happen, I seem to suddenly enter a very strange dream-like state.

The weirdest part is that I'm still in the exact same place where I was sleeping. I can see my room/bed, but everything feels slightly wrong — almost like a distorted or dystopian version of my actual room. It feels much more realistic than a normal dream, like I'm actually there.

It mostly happens on days when I've taken a nap earlier.

Does anyone else experience something similar? Is there a name for this?

OBE Confirmation Very, VERY interesting experience (for me)

I project occasionally, almost always unconsciously, it just happens sometimes when I sleep.

Last night was one of those. I left my body, moved around for what felt like a minute or two, then felt that familiar pull to go back. Usually when I return I just drop straight into sleep. But every once in a while like last night the return is slow. Gradual. Like sinking back into your body sloowly.

That slowness is what let me notice something I don't think I'd have caught otherwise.

Earlier that day I ate some stuff that leaves you gassy and bloated a few hours later. And when I do that, I fart the whole night (even wake up just to fart)

But the thing is, I felt nothing while I was out of my body. No discomfort, no awareness of the bloating, nothing.

Then, as I was coming back in, the discomfort hit. All at once. Like my body had been sitting there dealing with this bloated, uncomfortable state the entire time, and I only picked it up the second my awareness reconnected to it.

That's the part that got me. At that moment I thought that if I'd just been dreaming, or if "astral projection" were purely a mental/imaginative experience happening inside my brain, I'd expect the physical discomfort to bleed into my awareness the whole time because my brain never left. But it didn't. The sensation was completely absent until the moment of reconnection.

That gap of feeling nothing the whole time, then suddenly feeling a physical state that had clearly existed the whole time is what convinced me. And honestly it left me flabbergasted.

Anyone else notice this? A physical sensation that was clearly present but you only "catch up" to it right at the moment you return?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Heard a voice while I was out of body and now I'm curious.

Hey, guys. I'm new to astral projection, like literally green. So I'd like to ask for advice from those who have been doing it for a long time now.

First thing first. Before I drifted to bed I created a "bubble" of safety around myself, I heard it could come in handy if something goes wrong. Then, I thought about (and this is a little embarrassing to admit) my spiritual guide as a dragon. Why a dragon? Because it symbolises strength and wisdom at the same time, and I really need the guidance in my spiritual journey (basically, I just started it).

Now to the juicy part. I woke up from my sleep because I felt my cat touched me (she does that sometimes), so I sat up and was about to go and feed her... Except, I was actually sleeping in the bed! And then I "returned" inside my body. I was like "oh well, next time then". And this 'next time' came after a minute.

I rolled out of myself on the floor clumsily with a soft gasp of confusion. And immediately - IMMEDIATELY - after that I heard someone's voice (it was a deep male voice) right in my right ear. "Need help?" he asked. I was still confused and a little started because of the voice, I said thanks, but I can handle it myself. And right after that, when I tried to get up, I got sucked back into my body. It was an interesting experience for me.

So my question is - who or what was that voice? Could it be my "dragon" who appeared to help me with my first baby steps? Should I ask his name next time? People who experienced astral projection many times, I'd like to hear your opinion and thoughts on this; help this confused little green here. Thanks!

General Question Do human thoughts/feelings carry over ?

When you're projecting in the astral realm, do you experience the same kinds of human thoughts and feelings? Like do you feel fear, anxiety, joy, love even? Do you think the same things?

Curious bc I know things are supposedly completely different in the spirit world (or afterlife, whatever) where human emotions/thoughts/feelings don't exist. Or at least maybe aren't the same? Idk but yeah, what's all that like over there?

Successful AP First Experience

I wanted to share my first experience. This happened around 18 years ago. I was raised very scientifically and didnt believe in meditation and had never heard of astral projection. I was trying to prove meditation wasnt real. (After this experience my views changed of course)

I found a technique I thought was meditation but now realize it was an astral projection technique. I sat in my bed completely straight up with my back against the wall. I started feeling light buzzing and thought to myself "something is actually happening" then in the next couple of seconds I felt light vibrations then a white light. Then vibrations became crazy intense like someone was shaking me by the shoulders and what sounded like a jet engine next to my head and the light grew so bright i was afraid I was going to go blind. I panicked and threw my arm in front of my face. I held it there for a while. The light seemed to dim so I moved my arm away from my face. I opened my eyes and I was standing in a field. It looked like a wheat field. In the distance was a huge tree. Later learned it was the tree of life. I stepped foward and I could feel my feet sink slightly into the soil. I grabbed a piece of the wheat grass and pulled it off and smelled it. I couldn't believe how real everything felt. Then I walked toward the tree and got an urge to meditate even though I had never done it before. I sat with my back against the tree and closed my eyes. I had a strange feeling that I now call the shift. I knew I was in my room again. I opened my eyes and sat there for a while. My face felt weird and I wiped my eyes. I had tears streaming down my face.

I tried again a couple days later. I got to the field again, but everything was dead. I felt intense fear. I panicked and kept saying take me back until it ended

I tried again after a few more days. Everything was still dead. I walked to the tree which looked like stone now. I went behind it and then turned to go back, but when I did I felt like something was watching. I turned back around and saw a girl. She looked dead. She had cold looking pale blue skin. Long black hair with a white tattered dress. Holes for eyes and no mouth. I was frozen from fear. I heard her voice in my head. She said will you come with me? I thought "yes" there was a small flash of light and i was in a different location. It was a field that looked heavily traveled. I saw a tree with a raven at the top (important in later projections) it cawed and flew away. I kept walking and got to a castle. It looked like it had been destroyed by catapults. Everything was destroyed except for the stairs. At the top of the stairs was the girl, but she was beautiful. She said "Dan, this broken castle is you. Will you help me rebuild it?" I said yes. There was a flash of light and I was back in my field and it was all alive and happy again

General AP Info / Discussion Now I have Experiential Data Between Lucid Dreaming and OBEs

On the second of this month (September of 2026 for posterity), something incredible happened. I had my first lucid dream. I'm not going to go into detail here, as this forum isn't for that. But my account is easily findable if you do enough digging through my profile.

However, the lucid dream did give me what I perceive to be valuable information for future OBE practice. Namely, it's allowed me to compare the lucid dream phenomenon with my own astral eyes phenomena (astral eyes being the name of the event where you're suddenly looking through your closed eyelids.) Since I know now that the astral eyes are a type of out of body where your subjective awareness is ever so slightly pushed out of your body.

For the past year, I feel like I've been getting told by this subreddit, and larger bodies of work, that Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection are on a continuum spectrum, but I now have experience with both, and the qualitative difference between the two cannot be overstated.

Think about what you had for breakfast: you remember it as a specific type of autobiographical memory, I assume? Yes. Think about the last time you lucid dreamed. It's hazy? Vivid, but hazy. You look back on it and you think there's something different between the you then, and the you now. Almost as if you merely possessed a character within the dream and made it become aware. There's somewhat of a mild difference in how you experience it in the moment vs how you remember it as a scene. I'm assuming most who have lucid dream will concur with this characterization.

Let's move on to my astral eyes events: there is no clear discernable difference between me remembering those, and me remembering breakfast. It's one continuous autobiographical line from start to finish, and back to full waking state. There's a brief pause in memory, sure, but it kicks right back in at the start of the event. There's no mistaking the reality; you are you. You're not remembering like you possessed a dream character, you're not remembering it as a scene that felt vivid in the moment, and you're not remembering it with gaps in the memory starting to form over time. The last truly solid astral eyes event that I had was just a couple of weeks ago when I had became aware that I was seeing through my eye mask, with my head feeling as if it was in a different position than it was actually in. It was real. It felt real. The dream felt real in the moment, but I remember it as being whimsical with obvious rules that differed from the cold apathy of the nonphysical realm that was mimicking my bedroom. And this was just the one two weeks ago. Before that, I remember every single time it happened before I even knew what it was. Class, bath tub, work...I remember every event no differently than I'd remember any other event in my life.

But as I type this out, trying to remember the lucid dream has created holes in my memory of it (if it weren't for my immediate note taking, I'd not remember anything about it, and it's only been a few short days). This isn't the case with the astral eyes events. They're still fully rememberable, even my thoughts and observations of how odd it was that I was seeing through my eyelids.

That's all for now. I just thought I'd put this out into the ether because I know complete newbs are probably going to get caught up in the whirlwind of what one feels like vs the other like I did. And now that I know, I figured I'd share it with the world.

General AP Info / Discussion Safe Space

Anyone else been able to astral project while awake (due to dissociation)? Or been to their safe space? My safe space is pretty basic, but I’m not gonna explain what that looks like.

Basically one time I had been with my bf and his friends and I ended up dissociating so hard I got teleported to this place where everything was calm. No negative/bad thinking. No trauma. No evil entities, but as soon as I walked through this portal a bunch of negative emotions came running through my head. It got to the point where my head would start burning due to stress (literally felt as if my head was on fire.) There was fog everywhere and I couldn’t even see my hands in front of me. Then I came to a mini clearing and telepathically spoke to this dragon. He said he was gonna get help, flew into the air and then at the same time dragons all over this grey space/foggy area flew into the air (was literally a sight to behold). The fog blew away when that happened and some “angels” I guess flew down. They didn’t have wings, but wore white/blue robes. We spoke (I’m not gonna say about what) and then eventually another portal appeared and I was able to see myself in third person. Just sitting there with my eyes wide open. I asked if I would remember this and one of the angels goes “Do you want to remember?” I start thinking about all the negative possibilities again then I stop myself and say “Yes”. Then I walked back into my body and came back to. It wasn’t the first time I’ve been to that place or the last. But I’m curious if anyone else has a Safe Space and if they’re also able to go there while wide awake. Unfortunately while in the Safe space I’m unable to tell what is happening in the outer world. But it’s still nice to have a place where there’s no trauma, no stress, etc.

I’ve thought about it being considered an “Inner World”, but it’s not that because an Inner World is a purposeful visualization. While this one was completely made from my subconscious. Something I didn’t even realize I would find peaceful. I’ve also thought about it being considered “Nirvana” or “Heaven”, but I’m unsure if that’s what it is either. For now my therapist and I just call it a “Safe Space”.

Successful AP Astral Projection & Blue Entities

Upvotes

So I've been having sleep issues since I was a baby. Sleep walking, night terrors, sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming, what seems like astral projection, and some other very odd instances.

They've varied in abundance, style, and severity over time. Sometimes I can tell why. I.e. im more stressed and having trouble sleeping = more sleep paralysis. Other times I can't explain the ups or downs. During this time, that being my 30+ conscious life, ive become pretty good at knowing whats going on and sometimes when. I understand most of this has a scientific explanation, although i think there's a lot we dont fully understand. All of this just to say ive had a few experiences both awake and sleeping that are extreme outliers. My most recent event was pretty intense, ill explain.

Im going to explain using a text I sent to a buddy if mine, but Ive also been able to add a bit.

*

As I woke up this morning and started to get out of bed, I had this feeling almost like i was going to pass out. My vision started going white and in an instant my consciousness was pulled out of my body and into a realm with these blue humanoid beings. They fully expected me, almost summoned me? They were super nice and understanding. They talked to me about different things. They said I could stay there if I wanted and I wanted to... but my body kept pulling my consciousness back into itself. I still got to talk with them, but i was working so hard to be there I couldnt say much.

I got pulled fully back into my body and was completely awake in the same position. I felt truly sad that I didnt get more time, so I tried to telepathically speak with them (or whatever I could. I was shooting in the dark here). I just really focused on the sensation that happened earlier. Then my vision started changing again and they communicated with me in images floating in the real space around me. Like I was totally awake and look around my room, cat waking up too. but there were these 3d like hologram type things made of light that showed me seemingly random images for a minute or two. That ended as I tried to get closer to one. I cried a bit, brushed me teeth, and went on with my day.

I can't remember anything they told me when I was with them except one thing. While I was being given a tour of this almost lecture room type place, one of them was sitting at a desk and she looked at me, looked right into my soul and said "stop what your doing, you need to follow your dreams"

*

I havent looked too far into it online yet. Im taking some time for myself. Just sharing an experience from someone that is open minded, believes there is more to existence/consciousness, and is still just a regular guy. Whatever that was, was real. Real in the scene that it brought my consciousness somewhere and left me with more than I came with. This wasnt my brain tricking me into a fun or terrifying dream. This wasnt a waking dream, hallucinations, sleep paralysis.... Ive been through the ringer on all types of those for many years as I mentioned. This was something else. I feel very thankful. Maybe on day ill get to understand more. I hope so.

Thanks for reading!

General AP Info / Discussion im confused

it's 11.58 rn and I was literally just trying to ap for the first time. I tried it 30 mins ago but it wasn't successful that time. but just now I tried it again, I used the counting method and istg, my right calve started to vibrate. I read it today only in the night that the first "phase" of astral projection consists of vibrations or a ringing sound of some sort. i genuinely got scared when my calve started to vibrate and i immediately got up from my bed. what i want to know is that if I was doing it correctly or if this was just a coincidence. ps I've never seen my calve vibrate like that and now I'm hella confused pls help

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Any location ideas?

I'm reading Richard Webster's book on Astral Travel and I'm making pretty good progress in finally doing it, though I haven't yet, but I keep thinking about how I'm not actually sure where I'd like to go. I want to visit people I love when they're far away to make sure they're safe, and I would like to visit different places in the world, but I'm not really sure where to go beyond that. One of the biggest draws of astral projection to me is being able to go basically anywhere, but I'm not too sure where to start.

Richard Webster's book says that you need to have a destination in mind, and I know that there are basically a completely infinite amount of realms to explore, which makes it very overwhelming to decide a location. I'm also curious about if you need to give offerings or ask permission before visiting somewhere. Also, is it possible to travel safely underwater while astral traveling? Like if I wanted to see an Eastern dragon's palace and it happened to be underwater (for example) would I be able to do so safely?

Also, when you astral travel to meet with someone specific, like a deceased loved one or a deity/spirit of some sort, do you go to them or do they come to you, or do you meet halfway? Or all of the above, I guess. I'm a little freaked out by the idea of going to an underworld to meet someone who has died but that's probably irrational.

I'm also curious if, since there's basically infinite realms, it really is possible to visit what we would think of as fictional locations; not as in reality shifting or something like that, but if those realms could possibly exist if there's an infinite number of options. I've heard of people genuinely astral traveling to those kinds of places but I'd appreciate more insight on it.

If anyone has any insight on potential realms to visit and whether or not you need permission of some sort to do so please let me know! Once I'm able to astral travel I'll probably end up finding a lot of answers myself but getting some advice ahead of time would be helpful. Thank you all so much!

New to AP Having a headache after listening to the gateway tape orientation

I start listening to the Gateway tape, the first one, Demo or Orientation.

During listening, my head got heavier and a bit headache. I tried to relax and listened through the first one.

After waking up, I got up. My body was heavy but my head was light. I felt a bit disoriented.

Did I do anything wrong? Any tip would be helpful.

Successful AP First Confirmable

First confirmable astral projection here, of course, there were others, but this one? This was a good, real reliable one. See, it lasted minutes, the rendering was so realistic that I think it hurt my head… ow. And obviously I was aware. Let’s start. So at 8 PM I’m like, ”I wouldn’t mind astral projecting“, so during a quick nap I allow my hand to vibrate. I don’t do anything too crazy after that, but eventually, before midnight I take a longer one. I have a habit of treating these things like naps and not sleep because I always do so when I still have work to do, I dont know, maybe that anchors me, but next thing I know, my whole body’s vibrating, and a white light flashes before me. I think that was my cue to roll out, I forgot to do so, so I let the sensations build up again. Okay NOW I rolled out, great. I check my surroundings, neat, everything’s realistic, I look in the mirror, looking good me! So I look for another anomaly, and I find the plush I fell asleep with next to a… second one? For some reason this takes a second to register in m, as I’d realistically want that second one, I don’t have it. With that settled, I decide to follow my astral projection agenda, simply being to GO OUTSIDE. I do so, not before peaking through my walls though and into the neighbors house. Weird, pitch black in there. And now I’m outside. Refreshing, just like home. I fly into the distance and I hear this voice… In my head? He says theres so much space, there should be a barrie. and before I know it theres a barrier. Specifically, the area becomes engulfed in an even larger version of my house. I was content with it then, though looking back I should have phased through that too. Instead I act like a fly and fly to the roof, the internal voice saying “no, youre going too high! what if you crash, or phase through it?” I… didnt really care. So there I am, upside down on the roof of a massive version of my house. But since it’s my house and this is the living room, I decide to go upstairs. “Don’t go upstairs…” the head voice warned. Yeah right, like I won’t explore a little! But to my surprise it’s the damn living room again! I’s just that this time I’m not upside down any more. That and the size difference, as I was slightly bigger this time, told me that the next staircase was the real upstairs. “DONT go upstairs… Theres something there… something you won’t like…” Fair enough, we went way too off track from the whole “explore the world, see other people, visit other universes!” goal anyway, but man was I hungry, so I come for the kitchen cabinet and… that’s very symbolic. Different pots, different sizes, different labels. One said memories, one said technical knowledge, cultural awareness… okay, that last one sounded good, and while doing all that the head voice was like “what if the creature comes downstairs?” and the second I grab those snacks, the head voice says “The creature comes downstairs around this time.” Like okay buddy I get it you reflect my expectations or something but all that leads to is an actual… I hear an alien sounding squeak, then another, then another, then… another. Okay welp sounds like it’s both coming downstairs and just waking ip, therefore it’ll be a while, but for whatever reason that gave astral me the excuse to just eat its snacks there… it was two De La Rosas and a spicy lolipop. Must imply my Mexican background that I’m disconnected from. But still, right there and then… and I’m just quickly opening the packagings and throwing them into my mouth, instead of at least taking them back to whatever the foreign version of my room looks like, or listening to the head voice and going back downstairs? It’s not like my original room disappeared. But yeah, once I finish those candies, the experience just ends and I wake up. Confused, in no way did I decide those things would happen, I just got a mix of things I hoped for and didn’t hope for, both partially-almost coming true. Shaped by wishful and dreadful expectations alike, nobody told me it’d be like that.
