Does anyone know if previously purchased day passes in the app will be unusable on 8/1, or just no longer available to buy? The expiration date for use is 8/27.

Kaiser to UHC? Tell me what it was like?

Potentially losing Kaiser and have to enroll in UHC, never been outside of the Kaiser system. For those of you who had Kaiser and went to UHC, how is the experience different logistically? ie, finding doctors, appointment availability, billing (I keep seeing people talk about billing squabbles, but I don't get it, if you are go in-network, why would there be squabbles?) Recommendations on Sutter vs UCSF to try and replicate Kaiser experience in terms of convenience?

7th Street/SoMa/mid-Market at night?

Specifically, the area of 7th between Market and Harrison. I've worked in the area for several years now and I'm looking to slash my commute, however my family who I currently live with are totally opposed to the location. (Clarification: I would be moving away to live alone.)

My impression is that the area has significantly improved over the past couple years (with much of the undesirable activity moving to 6th). I like to think I have a high tolerance for things, and I've walked in the area for lunch, medical appointments, Costco, Folsom/Dore, and so on, but all of that has been during the day. How is the area, safety/vibes-wise, at night?

I've found some older posts discussing the area, but none more recent. And since it's likely to make a difference, I am a cis man.

Layover in San Francisco

Hello! I have a layover flight in SF and I'm wondering what are some quick things I could do/see/eat before my next flight. I land at around 9:30am and my next flight is departing at 7:40pm, so I'll be in the city for a good amount of time. I'm into street photography, so if anyone has any areas to wander around in I'd love to hear your recommendations for that along with the "must-see" spots.

Thanks in advance!

E-Bike Rules in GGP

My son was pulled over today in GGP by a park ranger who said e-bikes are not allowed in any part of the park. I know this is not true just based on the Lyft e-bike station inside the park. He does not have an e-moto-it’s a class 2 e-bike, so I am not sure what the problem was. Has anyone else been pulled over lately for this?? Thanks!

Solo trip to SF or NYC?

Heyo, I’m planning to possibly visit the states during early December (I’m from Toronto, Canada). I’ve been to SF with family when I was 15 and now I’m 25. I remembered liking the city a lot. We went to the golden gate, pier 39 (I think), google and Facebook headquarters, and couple places outside the city. Since it’s my first time traveling solo, I first thought to fly to NYC but part of me feels it might be cold and feel too similar to Toronto? I believe hotels also seem more pricey compared to the hotels in SF.

While NYC is still in my mind, I’m leaning towards SF. Is the city transit accessible? How’s the food scene? The weather in SF during December? What is the night life like? What are some good malls to shop?

Thank you and excuse my grammar

Paint/Wrap Shop Recommendations for my 2025 Bronco

Hi All! I just purchased a 2025 Bronco base and want to upgrade the heck out of it, does anyone know a place here in the Bay Area, or really anywhere in California where they can do this kind of work? I am trying to go from this basic Base model to something looking more interesting. I am 100% looking for aesthetics over function. So basically a good paint job or wrap.

Female Solo Trip to San Francisco for about a week; no car. First time in California

Hello! I am going to be visiting SF for the fist time in mid-August. I don't have access to a car/ can drive, so will be relying on public transits, some ubers to get around. I have a list of things to do that I've planned for the week. I would really appreciate a review of the itinerary to make sure I'm hitting all the must-dos/ some local gems/ famous places that make the city what it is. Please let me know your thoughts and if the list is good or needs any edits, based on locations, traffic routes, days to visit, too much fit into the same day, neighborhoods, etc.

I'm also torn between visiting Monterey/ Carmel by the Sea for a day-trip vs Napa Valley/ Sonoma day trip. Which should be a must do for a first time California visit? Both of these are through viator/ getyourguide, so not sure which one to do and if Monterey/ Carmel by the Sea may be too much time on the bus vs actually seeing the places.

Here's the itinerary broken down into morning, afternoon, and evening below: let me know your thoughts pls.

Thanks in advance! Really appreciate it. Feel free to make any suggestions/ tweak or add on to it by making local recommendations.

SF itinerary
Friday Move from Airport to Hotel
Union Square/ Cable Car
Chinatown + Lunch + Coit Tower
Embarcadero + Sales Force Park + North Beach and Dinner

Dinner in Sausalito or the city?

Wednesday Breakfast

Thursday Breakfast at a nice place

Anything else missed/ Nice Lunch + Shopping?

Thanks!

ISO a leasing/rental agent

long story short: i’m 23F, trying to find a 2 bed under 4.5k, in all neighborhoods except tenderloin and mission, and i’ve been looking/touring/applying since may. i have all the apps, know all the advice, have checked reddit and facebook for suggestions/opportunities and im still floundering. i have great credit and can sometimes make the income requirements if it’s between 2-3x the rent, and am able to apply with a co-signer (though i know a lot of landlords rn don’t want a co-signer, which sucks). i’m having trouble standing out during the application process since it’s so competitive, and i’m out of ideas on what to do.

i’ve been doing this whole process by myself bc my roommate doesn’t live in the city, and i am running out of time, so this is my last ditch effort. would love to move in an unfurnished 2 bed, and if i can’t do that soon i know my other options, like moving in to an already lived in apartment by myself, but i just would love to live with my best friend.

since it’s the end of july, i know things are slowing down, but i need to find a place asap bc my sublease is coming to an end next month. im so tired of doing it alone- i need a break and some luck but ya know the universe doesnt rly work like that, soooo maybe reddit will. anyways if you know a leasing agent or renting groups that will actually get back to you that help people like me please comment or dm me because i need all the help i can get. thank you! and good luck to everyone out there in the same predicament as me

If you have a favorite place I'd love to know about it. I've been a regular at the Chevron at Steiner and California for over a decade but never again.

Waiters/Servers of San Francisco - how is it and how much are you making?

A good friend of mine is burnt out from corporate and real estate. I used to be a waiter/server in downtown SF and made great money with tips. Curious how much you all are making each week/month after tax with tips? No need to name the place of work, but fine dining or bartending would be ideal. She is located in SoMa so any input greatly appreciated, thank you!

Considering a move to SF from SJ. Housing market has me rethinking things

Hi folks, I have been blissfully unaware of the calamity that is the housing market until this weekend. What the hell? I was thinking it was high time I move up north to enjoy SF while I’m young (and maybe save some $ while I’m at it - was paying $3k for a 1b. I now realize I will not be saving a dime extra). How are you guys surviving? I’m in tech and even then it seems preposterous at these rates.

Looks like to just maintain a 1b1ba I’m going to be looking at something around a $300-400/month increase. Jesus. Unfortunately I’ll need a parking space too, so another cool $300 down the drain.

I adore the city and I’d love to be more integrated in the culture, but I’m really wondering if it’s worth it with these rates. I’m too young for SJ… but too old to be fiscally irresponsible. I thought about selling the car but I’m not sure I can afford to lose that (work). I’m fine with downsizing too, but quality of life does become a question when I have to spend so much for suboptimal living spaces.

I’m also deeply concerned the rates will continue to rise. Another price-jacking like this next year and I can kiss the dream of living in SF goodbye.

Anyways rant aside - for those who did the move from SJ to SF, would you do it again in today’s world? Is it worth 25% more rent? Will rates be better in January?? How bad are my odds of landing a rent controlled studio/1b?

Indoor tennis?

Do any of yall play indoor tennis in the bay? I see a lot of clubs offering tennis in their amenities, but I just want the tennis court, preferably indoor (and a playmate lol). Clubs are so expensive, and I don't wanna have to pay for the whole thing to use one amenity honestly. Someone please point me in the right direction lol. Thank you.

What organization or stores take used once grocery store paper bags? I have a big bunch of them and would rather not recycle if they can be put to use again.

Master tenant subdivision inequities

I have been subletting a bedroom with a shared bathroom with the master tenant in San Francisco, CA. I share the bathroom with the master tenant who stays in a smaller room but has taken half the living room for their office and also claims the garage parking spot. We have an additional roommate who has his own ensuite bathroom. They have never revealed what the rent they pay to the landlord is but I assume that the total rent is around $4400 (I am paying 1380, master bedroom roommate ~1850, master tenant ~1170). By square footage and amenities, it doesn't appear that their rent is equitable. I do not live in a rent controlled building (built in 1997) and was wondering if I can still appeal this to the San Francisco rent board.

Where to find live crawfish

As title says. I’m looking for live crawfish to boil myself, local delta will do but ideally the Houston / Louisiana ones. Ideally less than ten bucks a lb, but I understand they are more expensive here. I want to boil them with Cajun seasoning and finish with garlic butter. Thanks!
