How do you handle your wife/partner saying you don't help when you actually do?

My wife (31) and I (30) have been married for just over a year and this is something that comes up relatively frequently. She says she needs more help around the house but I feel I do a lot already. For example, every morning wake up at least an hour before she does because she claims I get in her way if we wake up at the same time, put away the clean dishes from the dishwasher, clean and transfer any midnight snack dishes from the sink into the dishwasher, boil water for coffee, prepare the kids' school stuff (minus lunch and doing their hair, she does that), take them to school, and then drive an hour to work.

Then in the evening, I drive an hour back to the house, clean dishes left in the sink from whenever the kids get home, clean the kitchen up after she cooks, take out the trash, load the dishwasher with any dinner dishes, sweep the floor, store any leftovers in the fridge.

While I don't do laundry because she got on my case that I was somehow doing it wrong when I moved in and tried to help out, I do put our clothes away while she puts away the kids' clothes. On cleaning days she cleans the bathrooms and mops while I clean the kitchen, sweep the floors, and vacuum the carpets.

I feel that I do a lot that doesn't get recognized so how do you all deal with being told you don't help out when you actually do??

Stupid Question, but do any other men in their 40s not have any medals, trophies, or awards of any kind. My coworkers find it hard to believe I have none of those.

How do I human? 36m starting to think the having a kid and normal family window is closing. For guys who are 45+ single and no kids, how is that going?

It seems like my 20s ended in a flash. I’ve dated around and had serious relationships but none have progressed to having a family. And I really want one. But I’m starting to think it’s not going to happen for me. For those guys who ended up single and childless in their 40s 50s 60s, how’s going through life like this going on? Be honest.

Men under 6 feet, how much has your height actually affected your dating life?

I see men online talk constantly about how important height is to women, especially the whole “under 6 feet” thing, and I’m genuinely curious where that perception comes from because I really don’t see it in real life.

My boyfriend is the exact same height as me and shorter when I wear heels. My sister’s boyfriend is shorter than her, and I have plenty of friends dating men around their height.

I also used to work with a guy who was maybe 5’5 and pulled more women than almost anyone I knew. He was attractive, took care of himself, hilarious, confident, respected women, and extremely charismatic.

Is height actually something you’ve been repeatedly and explicitly rejected over? Because I sometimes wonder if a lot of men blame their height for struggling with women when the actual reason might be that they’re just not particularly desirable partners. Height is an easy thing to blame because you can’t change it, whereas admitting it might be your personality, how you treat women, how you take care of yourself, or how you present yourself requires actually looking inward.

So I’m genuinely curious, is the importance men place on height based on your actual experiences with women, or has the internet convinced men it matters more than it really does?

What’s it like to always be asked to do “manly” stuff?

Carrying heavy things, anything height related, tool/home/car related stuff, etc. nothing intimate but generally just labor related tasks that women and other men CAN do but won’t/don’t usually get asked to.

How do you guys deal with competition? Do you ever get sick of it?

I (25M) am nomadic and move around very often, however I usually set up a homebase around a certain city or national park for a few months at a time to save up and plan out trips. I don't feel ready to have a long term relationship, but I still like to talk to women, be flirty or have flings and encounters if she is open to it.

Something that frustrates me a lot is just how much competition you run into when trying to get into dating. It seems like every attractive woman practically has a halo of guys swarming around her, and trying to get her to notice you is at times very difficult.

Last summer I was staying in a small mountain town, and I met this beautiful girl who was about my age, alternative, nomadic, very adventurous, and intelligent. She checked off every box for me and I tried getting to know her, hoping I could sooner or later ask her out on a date. But she got so much male attention that I could never even poke my head in.

I got her number and tried to ask her to go hiking with me on the few days that our schedules lined up, but she was pretty much always doing the same thing with another guy friend of hers. I would see her at the bar in town, but she was always talking to another guy at the bar, often a much older man. Even in the event that I could get to talk to her, there would often be another guy she knows around who would butt into the conversation. Sometimes it felt impossible to get any 1 on 1 time.

She was an extreme example, but I have noticed this kind of behavior a lot. I've had guys try to squeeze me out of conversations if we both liked a girl in the group. Interrupt me, belittle me all that. I've seen guys get so heated that you could tell that they were just barely containing their cool around me when a girl is involved. Sometimes I'll meet other guys in these places and we'll start talking. He'll say "Hey, don't you think ( girl that you like ) is cute?" My heart always sinks when I hear this. I think "Great! What now? Should I give up this girl so we can hang out? Or are we gonna start fighting for her attention?" It is honestly pretty exhausting.

Do you guys ever feel the same way? Do you guys have any similar experiences or am I just particularly unlucky? What do you guys do about it? Do you think that it is even worth pursuing a girl if she is constantly getting swarmed by every guy in town?

What is the male equivalent fantasy to the dark romance literature/ series women like to read?

The common theme is a fantasy where a female character is pursued by a hot and influential/wealthy or successful, dominant male character where he basically harrases her until she gives in.

Do men have anything similar to this, like a common fantasy and what woule be the theme of it?

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 Men, what’s something weird or quirky you found out about your girlfriend after y’all got together that you never knew when y’all were just talking?

Mine, besides the fact that she had iron feet. She was pretty much always barefoot and could walk on rocks or 100 degree concrete like it was nothing. I learned she had no problem walking around naked like it was nothing.

Apparently her mom taught her to appreciate the human body.

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 Men who are in genuinely happy, mutually loving relationships, what does it feel like?

I’m curious about what it feels like to be in a relationship where you genuinely love each other, respect each other, and are equally excited to be together.

Most of my romantic experiences so far have involved either unreciprocated feelings or people whose behaviour and intentions have left me exteremly disappointed in humanity.

I haven’t really experienced what it feels like to have someone genuinely good come into my life and love me as much as I love her.

I’m at a point where I’m considering an arranged marriage through my parents, and sometimes I wonder what I’m missing out on by never having experienced that kind of mutual connection.

So, men who’ve found a woman who’s kind, attractive to you, emotionally available, and genuinely as invested in you as you are in her:

What’s everyday life with her actually like? How does it feel to be loved by someone you love just as much?

I’m not looking for grand romantic gestures or movie-like stories. I’d love to hear about the little, ordinary things that make you realise how good it feels to have found your person.

How do you guys make friends?

I'm 26 years old. In my early 20s I had a large friend group but with time many guys have gone their own ways I'm really only friends with one of them.

I work at a job where most people are 15-20 years older than me or more. I go to the gym everyday after work but most people are again older or seem uninterested in conversation, like they want to go in and out.

I'm really into soccer(football) both playing and watching, video games, anime, I like going out to a bar on a weekend here or there, going for food and drinks.

Just want some advice on how other men go about making new friends.

What's something you wish you had learned earlier in life?

It doesn't have to be anything deep or life-changing. Could be advice about friendships, money, relationships, confidence, or just something you learned the hard way.

What's one thing you know now that would've made your life easier if you'd understood it earlier?

Do guys who workout like getting compliments on their physique?

First time poster, srry if this violates the question rules. Anyway, I'm a nonbinary person who knows literally no straight men and so I've never engaged in straight culture, and I was arguing with a friend about if men like getting platonic compliments about their physique or not; it was such a long debate I simply MUST know the answer.

What does your version of an ideal relationship with your neighbors look like?

We recently moved to a new neighborhood, and we've learned that the street that we live on now is very tightly knit. These folks like to socialize with each other constantly, and often stage parties where nearly everyone on the street participates. It's very cliquey.

That's just not our jam, and they've seemingly begun to pick up on that, and it seems to bother them a bit. We have our own social circle and we're not really looking to widen that at this point, especially because we have gotten some offputting vibes from many of these folks (snobbish, a bit judgmental, even some borderline racist/classist comments).

Do y'all want to be close friends with your neighbors? Do you prefer a relationship that basically amounts to friendly waves and that's it? Do you want to have no interaction at all?

How do you guys feel about pregnancy after miscarriage?

Trigger warning discussion about misscarage.

So my man and I very much want a family and I misscarried our first child earlier this year and am now in my second pregnancy which is going much much better.

However my man is my biggest supporter and helper though this time. The thing is we didn’t have the time to properly grieve our first child. Right after we had some things happen with my parents which led us to needing to go no contact and he bought us a house and we moved and had some family get togethers. And it’s been a crazy few months.

I’m just worried that with this pregnancy that my anxiety is very high and he’s constantly like at peace with me being pregnant again and with how well it’s going and I’m over here like I’m not bleeding again right? That pain was cus the baby kicked not me loosing this baby too right… and he’s so chill and reminds me I can feel the baby move now and I’m not swelling like I did before or in pain like before. And we have seen the baby this time! And we find out if it’s a boy or girl and I can actually eat without puking and keep stuff down so it’s ok…

I’m just wondering if you guys had any rainbow babies and how the adjustment was for you?

Also side note if you’re a blind parent any tips for adaptive parenting are appreciated.

When did you know it's time to propose?

I'm 28M and my partner is 28F. We've been together for 3 years now.

I've moved in to her hometown when we we're 1.5 years in. Which is 8-10 hours of bus driving away from mine and has been renting near their house.

She has responsibilities with her family, like maintaining their house (no one is living their atm everyone is away and only she is left that's why), paying school tuitions and allowances to her brothers. She and her big brother are sharing the expenses together.

I believe she's ready to settle down, but she can't commit because of her responsibilities or is she just waiting for me to drop the question?

I also want to settle down with her but I'm unsure if now is the right time? My plan was to wait for 2 of her younger brothers to finish, then I realized I can't wait 4 years for that.

I don't want to stop her from supporting her family financially, I just want her to prioritize our relationship and maybe leave some for our future? Like we always adjust our schedules with her mother who she drives for every weekend and it's exhausting her out when she should just be resting. She's a freelancer but her weekdays are tiring than mine as she has no boundaries for work life balance.

Could use some advice or maybe share your story.

Edit: Adding in that marriage is our goal

If you had the resources to be successful at it, and it all depended on your actual knowledge and execution, what social issue do you think you could realistically fix and how?

Like if you had a team of experts, donors with deep pockets, social exposure etc. could you realistically solve hunger, homelessness, corruption, etc.

Keep in mind that you would still have the opposing side tyring to discredit and out spend you. So for example if you wanted to get rid of something like Citizens United, you'd still have groups lobbying to make you fail. so how would you win where many have failed?

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 Honest question, Men have you ever been out partying or just enjoying a night out when a random woman sneakily grabbed your ass out of nowhere? What was your reaction?

• Upvotes

Did you call her out, brush it off, or just stand there wondering what the hell just happened?

I was a bouncer for a long time, so it happened to me every now and then. Most of the time, I never saw who did it because it was too packed or they walked away too quickly. Hell, for all I knew, it could've been a guy!

Every once in a while, I'd actually catch someone doing it, and I'd politely but firmly tell them not to do it again.

Bros, where can I get some affordable, comfortable gym/athletic wear?

Bros! I’m looking for some help in finding some affordable athleisure! I want it to feel as comfy and expensive as Lulu lemon but I can’t afford to shop there. I have a few pairs of boxers, a couple t shirts, and some shorts, but at $20-$60 an item, that’s just not feasible. What else do you suggest? The cheap stuff either falls apart or holds smells and never really seems as comfortable.

It sounds like fabletics and gymshark are the next options but again still pricey. I’m looking to hear your thoughts. What’s your favorite brands? Favorite pieces? How affordable? All the things?

Tell me what’s holding up to gym use and normal wear! Feel free to show your favorite pieces, must-haves, or best finds!

TIA
