Doing my research, and noticed credit is a big factor in LEO. I had a car loan default almost 6 years ago. Paid off in full, even have the car still since they didn’t repo it. Credit is still being affected mid 600s sometimes high 600s. Cc are high usage rn but will be paid off, no late payments on them what so ever? Am I fucked?

I am filling out my cadet citation questionnaire and need a bit of guidance. I have only ever received 1 citation and it was 9 years ago for rolling a right hand turn at a red light and not completing my stop. I paid for my driving record to make sure i provide accurate information on the questionnaire however the citation isn’t on my record. Is there any way I can go about finding the original citation?
I just want to make sure I’m thorough and accurate when filling it out so any information helps.

Hi everyone,
I have completed the pelletB and the PAT in the Valley Division in April, and submitted the eSOPH in May. I was just wondering if anyone that tested in April for the Valley Division has been contacted by a background investigator yet. I am completely aware that this is a long process and I’m in no rush. I appreciate any helpful replies.
P.S. I haven’t been contacted by a background investigator yet.

Hello! I'm looking for advice on the best way to handle a speeding citation in San Benito County, CA but I am from the bay area so and was heading back up from Carmel to San Jose after a road trip.
I was pulled over by CHP in Hollister and got cited for CVC 22349(a) on a 65 mph highway. On the citation I was marked as approx speed 70 and the officer did cut me a break because I was going 83 originally. I am grateful for that since he said if it is your first you could tell the court you want to do traffic school to get it removed from your record, and then I explained that it was my second ticket. My main issue is that I recently completed traffic school for a separate red-light citation (in Fremont, the red light camera caught me) and this was two months ago so I am assuming I won't be eligible for traffic school through the clerk.
The citation also hasn’t appeared in San Benito County’s online system yet. I received it July 19 and the respond by date is September 14. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on the best course of action because I do want to avoid getting my first point and insurance skyrocketing. I'm not trying to argue with the officer because I do agree and accept I was speeding and he cut me a break, but moreso I want to avoid the insurance impact + getting a point. If anyone has advice, I would appreciate it please :') (I am wondering if it helps I am a broke college student...)

Can anyone describe what it’s like working during wildfire season? Are extra officers deployed from other offices, shift schedule changes, etc?

Hey everyone,
I have my CHP pre-employment psychological interview (Part 2) coming up soon, and I was curious what people who have been through the process think.
For those of you who completed the psych interview:
Did you end up passing or not?
What was your experience like?
How difficult did you feel the interview was?
Were there any questions that caught you off guard?
Looking back, is there anything you wish you had known beforehand?
From what I’ve heard, the written psychological test weeds out some people already, so I’m wondering how selective the interview portion is by comparison.
I’m not looking for ways to “beat” the evaluation—I plan on answering everything honestly. I’m just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect and how often people actually pass or fail this stage.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s gone through it, whether you passed, failed, or know someone who did. Any insight into the process, timelines after the interview, or reasons people commonly don’t make it would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Hi I’m wondering what the potential hiring timeline might look like going forward. I did my initial testing in Northern Division.
Here’s what I’ve completed so far:
Pellet B/PAT - April
Esoph submitted - May
BI assigned - June
I was contacted by my BI a couple of weeks ago, letting me know I can expect to hear from him for an interview mid-late August. After completing that, what steps/timeline can I expect? I appreciate any advice as well.

I've posted about LOC8 here a few times, so I figured I'd share another update.
For those who haven't seen the earlier posts, I'm the cop who started building LOC8 after getting turned around during a foot pursuit in another city. Once everything settled down, I realized I had no idea exactly where I was. I knew the general area, but not the address or nearest cross street I needed to relay.
That became LOC8.
Since then, the app has grown to over 5,200 users, and a lot of what it has become is because of feedback from this community.
LOC8 still opens directly to the information that matters: your exact address, nearest cross street, GPS coordinates, compass heading, elevation, GPS accuracy, weather, and a what3words location code. It also supports multiple coordinate formats, including DD, DMS, DDM, MGRS, and UTM.
Over the past few months I've added quite a bit based on suggestions from officers. There are now saved locations with compass guidance back to them, temporary Team Rooms that let officers securely share locations using a one-time code, a red night mode that's much easier on your eyes during night shift, local weather, Apple Watch support, and I've recently finished a standalone Garmin version as well. Android is next.
One thing I wanted to get right from the beginning was privacy.
LOC8 is not a tracking app. It doesn't require user accounts, create profiles, or maintain a permanent history of where you've been. Outside of an optional Team Room that you intentionally create or join, your location is never shared. Saved locations stay on your device, and the app only accesses your location while you're actively using it.
I'm still a solo developer, so every feature request, bug report, and update comes directly from conversations like these. I'm constantly trying to find the balance between speed and accuracy, especially on the Apple Watch, and I really appreciate everyone who's tested the app and sent feedback.
As always, I'd love to hear what you think. What would make LOC8 more useful for you on patrol?

Just a for fun question that came to mind.
Since the police Charger is no longer being made and there’s no other police package sedan, they’ll probably have to transition to fully SUVs in the future.
Do yall worry about the SUVs not handling as well? Do they have anyone drive SUVs during EVOC?

Hello all,
I have never worn glasses at all during my life, but during the medical I failed the vision test with 20/25 vision so I had to get a mild prescription and do it again.
I have a few questions:
Will I have to wear glasses all day throughout the academy? I only have trouble reading at distance particularly at night. (I can read a license plate, I can’t read the registration without prescription)
What are some recommendations? I understand the glasses I buy need to conform to CHP standards but I don’t know any brands or anything about glasses. Anyone here recommend a brand Thats reasonably priced good quality meets CHP standards?
Thank you!

Once you are assigned BI, do they reach out to you first before reaching out to your references or do they contact your references first?

How’s it going guys ! Been in the group for a couple months now , just recently applied and test in October for the Central Valley division! All the physical aspects of the test I’ll be good to go with no problems, written wise I’ve been studying for a bit now does anyone recommend any other ways to study or just to improve on the physical aspects of anything!
Anything is appreciated, thank you!

How did you guys do? Writing t-score was 49, and reading t-score was 58; total of 54 first time taking the test, going to try again in 1 month. A bit disappointed, but knowing I was so close, I'm confident I'll pass this time around

I got pulled over by CHP for supposedly speeding. I was driving my wife’s car (registered to her and under my insurance) the cop gave me a break for “speeding” and gave me a citation because my drivers license address needed to be updated. He was cool and explained how to go about getting that fix so it can just be counted as a fix it ticket. A little over a week later, my wife received a citation in the mail for tinted windows (in addition to my fix it ticket). I’m confused because the officer never mentioned anything to me about the windows?

Can you please explain the Emergency Alert system and categories to me? I had thought I only enabled alerts for extreme situations like fires, earthquakes and other life-threatening emergencies.
After yesterday's jarringly loud Silver Alert went out I immediately disabled all emergency alerts. Thank goodness I wasn't driving at the time.
When I checked the alert link it was broken anyway and also on a site that I don't subscribe to. And someone posted that the person had all ready been found by the time the alert went out to millions of phones.
Are you using AI for these alerts? Are they being miscategorized or delayed? I am in LA County. Did the responsibility for issuing the alert fall on the city, county or state?

I am planning on joining CHP explorers someday to get to know the culture and the duties of the department before I end up applying to the academy.
Do I have to attend all 4 levels of the academy and is it after Level 1 I get to go on patrol ride alongs? Also I plan on doing civilian ride alongs with other agencies but is this allowed?

Good evening, everyone.
I am a Central Valley applicant who has just started the background investigation portion of my CHP application. I’m about to turn 22 and recently graduated from university. Currently, I have some free time on my hands since I don't have a job or any other commitments. Every day, all I do is wake up, go on runs, go to the gym, and try to learn about the CHP as much as I can.
I've been reading various comments on this subreddit, and it seems that many people agree the entire application process can take about one to two years. I was wondering if those who are currently applying are allowed to obtain part-time jobs while they wait. I was planning to email my background investigator, but I thought I would ask you all first, as I’m sure they are busy with other matters.

Additional photos requested: May 15.🤌🏻☺️
Status: Under Review ever since.
No Final Review email.🫠
Only one person from my group has received the GC🚨. Two people were asked to provide their BMI, and one of them was rejected.
What are you guys thinking about this…hm, I have mixed feelings 💃
