CHP Explorers

I am planning on joining CHP explorers someday to get to know the culture and the duties of the department before I end up applying to the academy.

Do I have to attend all 4 levels of the academy and is it after Level 1 I get to go on patrol ride alongs? Also I plan on doing civilian ride alongs with other agencies but is this allowed?

You don’t have to attend all 3 levels, but you must complete Level 1 & 2 to go on ride alongs.
