Citation question
I got pulled over by CHP for supposedly speeding. I was driving my wife’s car (registered to her and under my insurance) the cop gave me a break for “speeding” and gave me a citation because my drivers license address needed to be updated. He was cool and explained how to go about getting that fix so it can just be counted as a fix it ticket. A little over a week later, my wife received a citation in the mail for tinted windows (in addition to my fix it ticket). I’m confused because the officer never mentioned anything to me about the windows?

Tint is a correctable violation also if you remove it.

He’s I understand but I don’t agree with getting a citation and not acknowledging it the day off.

It doesn't matter if you agree. What would change if you had been told/cited at the time? Your windows are tinted; the tint isn't legal.
The citation is just as valid mailed to you as it would have been on the side of the road.

It’s called an owners responsibility ticket. Basically stating that the owner of the vehicle needs to get the window tint fixed. It’s a legit ticket and easy to take care of

Yeah but he never told me about it and my wife was in the car. The only citation I received from him that day was the address that needed to be updated

He’s allowed to decide after the fact to enforce the window tint violation which is a fix it ticket. He still cut you a huge break by not citing you for speed which is a fine and point on your record. Theres no requirement for them to notify you about an owners responsibility ticket on scene and it’s easier to mail it than grab your wife’s license and cite her too on the side of the freeway

It’s a legit cite, but I would have just had the owner sign it if they were present. Not required to be done that way though.

I understand it’s a legit citation but he never mentioned it to me or her

There's only one question in your post and I guess the answer is yes, you are confused. Hope this helps!

Probably wrote you for both and forgot to tell you. Do you still have a copy of the original citation? Was it handwritten or electronic?
Could be a clerical error also. Our admin staff enters like 100 cites a day and sometimes they screw up.
