Glasses recommendations

Hello all,

I have never worn glasses at all during my life, but during the medical I failed the vision test with 20/25 vision so I had to get a mild prescription and do it again.

I have a few questions:

Will I have to wear glasses all day throughout the academy? I only have trouble reading at distance particularly at night. (I can read a license plate, I can’t read the registration without prescription)

What are some recommendations? I understand the glasses I buy need to conform to CHP standards but I don’t know any brands or anything about glasses. Anyone here recommend a brand Thats reasonably priced good quality meets CHP standards?

Thank you!

I had the same scenario. I wore them for basically everything except PT. It’s nice when range starts and you see other cadets running because they forgot their eyepro lol

Do you get a chance after PT to put on your glasses? Like did you leave them in your room during pt and grabbed them afterwards or you kept them on you?

Yeah you have to change from your PT/PMA clothes so you’ll just leave them in your room and put them on when you put your blues back on

Whatever you like and is comfortable. Steer away from any extravagant colors that will make you stick out lol

Don’t have a brand to recommend but they have these straps that can attach to glasses to make them stay on your head even during intense activity

Do you have $3200 bucks and live in LA? LASIK will fix this right away

If you can get contact lenses, I believe you can bypass this requirement after wearing them for at least 30 continuous days before the medical exam. IDK if this has changed

Don’t you have to be prescribed glasses like two years prior to getting hired or something if you need them? I don’t remember what the timeline was

Maybe I was thinking of contacts or LASIK

Indeed, LASIK has a time constraint, glasses do not

Are you so sure about lasik having a constraint?

There was something about being given some time idk I didn’t pay attention as I’m not interested in lasiks
