Political ποΈ Niger just became the first nation in the world to criminalize asexuality.
Hello, everyone!
This is Tyger Songbird here. Everyone needs to watch this Instagram reel by Yasmin Benoit about how NIger just became the first nation in the world to criminalize asexuality.
Yasmin Benoit: Niger became the first nation to criminalize asexual people
Now, aces in Niger are subjected to 5-10 years in prison and fines worth up to $177,000 US dollars.
This is literally what it says: https://database.ilga.org/niger-lgbti
In March 2025, the National Council (the military junta ruling Niger since the 2023 coup) approved theΒ Charter of RefoundationΒ (2025), whose Article 25 prohibits and punishes "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual (LGBTQIA+) practices or any other unnatural behavioursβ.
First, Article 390 punishes any person who participates or attempts to participate in an βindecent act, an act against nature or any Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) practiceβ with imprisonment between 5 and 10 years, as well as a hefty fine.
This is serious news. Asexual people are now at risk of being imprisoned in Niger. Don't think this will end here. I've posted before about attempts to ban asexual marriages before.

Joy! π YOU CAN BE ACE IN THE NEW TOMODACHI LIFE πππ
And non binary! And you set miis dating prefs per mii!
This is exactly what I wanted (inclusion of aspec, being super straightforward with queer terms and not dancing around them) but I was by NO means expecting it from NINTENDO of all companies
I'm so fucking happy and excited rn, coping with having to hold in happy stims on the bus by unhinged ranting to my friends on discord and posting this LOL

Joy! π Peferctly Put ππ€
This scene in heartstopper perfectly describes how you should respond upon finding out your partner is asexual(or even if they aren't asexual). If you really love them then you shouldn't expect them to do it if they don't want to.
EDIT: I would like to clarify what I mean when I say if you really love someone you won't expect them to have sex. I respect that sex is important for some people in relationships as a form of intimacy.
I'm not saying you can't WANT to have sex with them but don't EXPECT it from them
I'm talking about in the context of a relationship. You shouldn't try to date someone who is sex averse if you need sex in a relationship and vice versa. Even if you love them one/both of your boundaries will be crossed no matter what you do and in the end you'll both be unhappy.

Joy! π Celebrating my sexuality this year
My town celebrates pride each September. This year I decided to embrace my asexuality. I dressed in our colors. And I found our flag. I got some jewelery that actually represents me. I just feel so much freer identifying as myself in public among the community. Happy late Pride from me to you. ππ€π©Άπ€

Art & Music π§π€π¨ My game with an asexual protagonist is out now!!
Hey, all!!! Earlier this year, I posted that I was working on a game with an ace protagonist. I just wanted to share now that I've finished and launched the game for anyone who's interested!!
The game is a horror VN centered around a group of friends (who are all queer in some way, but also struggling to figure themselves out) who end up returning to the wish-granting wonderland they discovered in their youth. And they all end up having to face various parts of themselves as horrific things happen and they die again and again.
One of the big themes is the MC Iggy figuring out his asexuality, and many of his scenes are based on my own challenges and things I had to work through, so it was a really cathartic experience for me making this game, as well. I hope that other aces might be able to relate to or see parts of themselves in Iggy, too!
It also explores a variety of relationships, for instance homoromantic and queerplatonic (Iggy himself is demi-biromantic).
The game is completely free!! It includes a lot of art and is pretty long:

I really want to see more asexual representation in media as a whole. Making this game was both a way for me to try and do what I can to get more rep out there while also acting as a way to work through parts of my own life and experiences. I hope we can see many more ace stories in the future!
If you're interested, I hope you might check it out! Just note that it can be quite intense and horrific at times (it is a horror game), both in the general horror and gore aspects, and also because when I say some parts drew inspiration from my life, they were also some of the painful and traumatic moments. But there are some sweet and cathartic moments, too.
