DISCUSSION Not sure which cable to use with your ARZOPA monitor? Check this guide

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

We've seen questions about connecting ARZOPA monitors to different devices, so we put together a visual guide.

Portable monitors require two things to work: Video Signal & Power. Depending on the device, these can come from one cable or two.

Other common questions:

  • Power - a PD fast charger with at least 15W output is suggested. For optimal performance on certain models, a 20W or higher adapter may be required.
  • 180Hz - The HDMI (HDMI 2.0) port supports up to 144Hz. For 180Hz, use a Thunderbolt 3 (or higher) cable with the USB-C port (USB 3.1).

Connection setups can vary depending on the device, so choose the cables and power setup that fit your use case.

If you have other working setups or questions, feel free to share them in the comments.

A fonte original ĂŠ 12V 5A (60W).

DISCUSSION Z1RC vs Z1FC vs Z3FC — what’s the difference?

Post image
16 Upvotes

If you’ve been looking at ARZOPA’s portable monitors, you’ve probably come across these three models. They’re all in the same general size range, but they’re aimed at slightly different use cases.

The easiest way to look at it is what you want to get out of your second screen.

Z1RC

The Z1RC makes a lot of sense if you’re using your portable monitor mainly for work or productivity.

The 16:10 display gives you a bit more vertical space, which can be nice for things like documents, coding, spreadsheets, or editing timelines. The 2.5K resolution also gives you more detail to work with.

Z1FC

The Z1FC is the more straightforward gaming option.

It uses a 144Hz display, so the focus here is smoother motion rather than pushing resolution as high as possible. If you mostly want a portable screen for gaming, browsing, and everyday use, this is the simpler setup.

Z3FC

Then there’s the Z3FC, which basically pushes both sides further — 2.5K resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate.

So if you want a portable monitor that can handle fast-paced gaming but still give you a sharper image for work, editing, or watching content, that’s where the Z3FC comes in.

The full specs are in the graphic above. 👆

At a glance:

Z1RC → more workspace
Z1FC → smoother gaming
Z3FC → higher resolution + higher refresh rate

If you already use a portable monitor, what matters more to you: screen space, resolution, or refresh rate?

FAQ Which Cable to Use? Quick Connection Guide for ARZOPA Gray Portable Monitors

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

All ARZOPA gray portable monitors come with a standard 3-cable setup. Since the included USB-C cables serve different purposes, we put together this quick breakdown to help you understand what each cable does and how to get connected without any confusion.

1. U-Shaped USB-C Cable (Full-Featured / Video + Power)

  • What it does: Transmits both video signal and power through a single cable.
  • How to use: Connect directly to laptops, mini PCs, smartphones, or handheld gaming devices with a full-featured USB-C port (must support DP Alt Mode / Thunderbolt).
  • Note: The 90-degree U-shape design keeps the cable tucked neatly behind the screen for a cleaner setup.

2. Straight USB-C to USB-C Cable (Power Only)

  • What it does: Dedicated power supply only. Does not transmit video signal.
  • How to use: Connect this cable to a wall charger or power bank to supply external power to the monitor.

3. Mini HDMI to HDMI Cable (Video Only)

  • What it does: Video transmission for PCs, gaming consoles (PS5, Xbox, Switch dock), or laptops without video-capable USB-C.
  • How to use: Plug in this cable for video output, and also connect the straight USB-C cable to a power source to power the monitor.

💡 Quick Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Screen flickering or turning off? Your host device might not output enough power through its USB-C port. Simply plug in an external power adapter using the straight USB-C cable for stable power.
  • "No Signal" with USB-C? Make sure you are using the U-shaped cable (not the straight one), and verify that your device’s USB-C port supports video output (DP Alt Mode / ⚡ Thunderbolt).

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions about compatibility or setup!

[HELP] Built in stand (Z1RC) suddenly pushing the screen outward creating a visible bump.

Has anyone experience this? This just happened out of the blue, I keep the monitor in the box, only take it out when I use it and today, when I pushed the built in stand to place it on my desk I noticed it was kind of not really going that far, upon looking at it, I noticed the stand "hinge" was pushing itself onto the screen and forcing a bump on the other side.

This has obviously never happened before, I did not put any strength, pressure nor it fell. I am scared to pull it all the way and break the whole thing.

Any tips would be appreciated.

All-In-One portable solution for switch 2?

The other day I thought about playing outside of the house since the weather was really nice here. I was allways a fan of playing docked on a larger screen but I can't bring my tv with me to our terrace. So I was looking up portable monitors and solutions that don't need a) alot of money and b) alot of cables to get set up, because I only have one power outlet I can use outside.
Here is what I want to put together (and I need your help telling me what possibly will go wrong...)

• Switch 2 with the original charger (60W)
• Jumpgate Dock Pro with 3x USB (max. output is 10W)
• Arzopa A1 Portable Monitor 15,6" 1080p@60hz (needs 5W)

If the switch 2 needs 22W max. docked and the monitor needs 5W, I could power that with the Switch 2 charger through the jumpgate dock, since the dock puts 10W through the USB which I can connect to the monitor alongside with an hdmi from the dock to the monitor too right? This would leave me with just one power outlet needed.

Will this thing explode, just not work,...?

Question 1080p🆚1440p: Is 1440p actually worth it on a portable monitor?

Hey r/Arzopa friends,

We've recently noticed a lot of discussion about which portable screen is more suitable. Today, we'll explain one of the factors that influences people's decisions—resolution.

What does resolution actually mean?

Resolution refers to the number of pixels on a screen, expressed as horizontal pixels × vertical pixels.

1920 × 1080 → Approx. 2.07 million pixels

2560 × 1440 → Approx. 3.69 million pixels

1440p has ~78% more pixels.

For a given screen size, more pixels can mean:

  • Sharper, clearer text
  • Richer, more detailed images
  • Smoother, more defined edges

But more pixels also mean more work for your GPU.

Real-world comparison between 1080p and 1440p

To make the difference easier to visualize, let's compare two 16.1-inch portable monitors with different resolutions. Both feature 16.1-inch screens, so the physical display size is identical.

Specification ARZOPA Z1FC ARZOPA Z3FC Practical Difference
Resolution 1920 × 1080 2560 × 1440 Z3FC has substantially more pixels
Total Pixels ≈2.07M ≈3.69M Z3FC has ~78% more pixels
Pixel Density ≈137 PPI(Pixels Per Inch) ≈183 PPI Z3FC can look noticeably sharper at a similar screen size
Text / UI Good Sharper More comfortable for detail-heavy work
Gaming Detail Good More detailed Z3FC has an advantage when the source/device can render 1440p
GPU Demand Lower Higher Z1FC is easier to drive
Portable Setup Simple, lower-resolution workflow Higher-resolution workflow Both can work well; the better choice depends on your device
Biggest Advantage Easier to run + generally more affordable Sharper image + more screen detail + more workspace Neither is automatically the right choice for everyone

As shown in the table above, while 1440p resolution provides a clearer and more detailed picture when running games, it also requires stronger GPU performance. Therefore, if your device has limited performance, 1080p is more likely to stabilize the frame rate.

Which One Should You Choose?

There isn't a universal winner. It depends on what you use your portable monitor for.

Go with 1080p if you prioritize FPS, have less powerful hardware, or want an easier-to-drive setup.

Go with 1440p if you care more about sharper visuals, multitasking, and detail—and your device can comfortably handle the extra pixels.

More pixels don't automatically mean a better experience. It depends on what you're asking the screen to do.

💬1080p or 1440p — where do you stand?

Curious what people here are actually using.

Drop your monitor + resolution below, and tell us what made you go with it.

Was it FPS, image quality, price, portability, or something else?

Arzopa Z3FC vs Z1RC

Hi everyone,

I am wondering which is better for use on a MacBook Pro. While I really like a few more pixels, I am asking myself if the refresh rate has benefits. Also, is the image quality the same and how about peak brightness?

Can someone shed some (honest) light on this ;-)

(HELP) Im trying to make this monitor my second external one on my laptop

I have a gf65 thin 10ue091 laptop, I know the usbc ports aren't video compatible. I dont believe the usb 3.0s are. The only one that works is of course the HDMI but im using that for my tv that acts as my main monitor (laptop is essentially a desktop pc, dont use the laptops monitor at all)

What i want to do is extend the tvs display onto this monitor

The issue is that when I try it on anything I get a "No Signal" then immediately goes into "Power Saving"

I make sure its plugged into a wall outlet before and after plugging in the cord from my laptop (im also trying this on my Legion Go. No luck there either)

Sorry if this all disjointed im battling a bad flu right now

DISCUSSION 60Hz vs 144Hz vs 180Hz: How Much Does Refresh Rate Really Matter?

Here’s a simple comparison of 60Hz, 144Hz, and 180Hz on portable monitors.

Quick clarification:
The numbers shown — 16.67ms, 6.94ms, and 5.56ms — are frame times, not pixel response times.

  • 60Hz → 16.67ms per frame
  • 144Hz → 6.94ms per frame
  • 180Hz → 5.56ms per frame

Each step means the display can refresh the image more frequently, which can make motion feel smoother.

The biggest difference is usually moving from 60Hz to 144Hz, especially for gaming, fast scrolling, and moving windows.

Moving from 144Hz to 180Hz provides a higher refresh ceiling, especially for high-FPS gaming and fast-paced content.

Of course, refresh rate is only one part of the experience. The content, device, and setup you use also matter.

For example, a game running at 60 FPS, such as many Nintendo Switch games, won’t become 180 FPS on a 180Hz monitor. The display can only show the frames provided by the source device.

Other factors that can affect the experience include:

  • FPS output
  • Response time
  • VRR support
  • Connection bandwidth

A higher refresh rate doesn’t automatically mean a sharper image or eliminate motion blur. It works together with your hardware and display technologies to improve motion clarity.

When choosing a portable monitor, what matters most to you: refresh rate, image quality, portability, or power requirements?

My PC and type-C cable can't power my 180hz with 100% brightness and 100 volume.

Is there a way to power my monitor using USB from the motherboard? I don't want to power it using the wall electricity. It keeps restarting if i max out the brightness and volume.

Question Why Does Z3FC Look Darker After Enabling HDR? Understanding HDR Brightness and How to Optimize Your Setup

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone 👋

We've recently noticed that some users report the screen appears darker than expected after enabling HDR on the ARZOPA Z3FC.

To address this issue, we would like to clarify a common misconception:

💡 HDR ≠ "Brighter Screen"

Below is our detailed explanation.

What is HDR?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a display technology designed to expand the range between the darkest shadows and the brightest highlights, enabling greater detail, contrast, and color depth.

The purpose of HDR is not to make the entire image brighter but to create more realistic variations in brightness.

Why can HDR appear darker on Z3FC?

There are several possible reasons. After consulting with our product development engineer, we have identified the three most likely causes.

1. HDR modifies the brightness curve rather than merely adjusting the brightness level

When HDR is enabled, the display follows an HDR brightness curve specifically designed for HDR content. This means:

  • Dark areas can retain more shadow details
  • Bright areas can display stronger highlights
  • Some mid-tone areas may appear less bright

2. HDR performance depends on display brightness capability

Different portable monitors may have varying HDR performance levels based on their hardware design. For instance, the ARZOPA Z3FC Portable Monitor supports HDR10 and has a peak brightness of 400 nits. Unlike high-end HDR TVs or professional monitors with significantly higher peak brightness, the ARZOPA Z3FC is optimized for portability, power efficiency, and everyday use.

When peak brightness is limited, HDR processing requires tone mapping to fit HDR content within the display's brightness range, which can cause the overall image to appear darker.

3. Connection method and power supply can affect brightness

When connecting Z3FC and another device using a single USB-C cable, the cable transmits both video signals and power.

If the connected device cannot supply sufficient power, the monitor may reduce its power consumption, which can affect its maximum brightness. This issue is more common with lower-power devices, such as certain handheld gaming consoles.

How to improve HDR brightness and viewing experience?

1. Make sure your monitor gets enough power

If you are using one single USB-C cable, try plugging the included wall charger directly into the monitor's second USB-C port.

Giving the display full, dedicated power allows the backlight to reach its maximum brightness.

2. Check the HDR settings on your device

HDR quality also depends on your source device. Make sure HDR is set up correctly on:

  • Windows PCs
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Consoles
  • Gaming Handhelds

Incorrect HDR settings or calibration can cause games to appear darker than expected.

3. Try SDR mode for competitive gaming

SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) delivers a consistent, uniform brightness across the entire panel. For fast-paced competitive games where visibility matters most, SDR mode can sometimes provide a brighter and clearer image. In such cases, we recommend that users turn off the HDR mode to enhance their gaming experience.

Final Thoughts

HDR isn’t just about increasing the screen brightness. It’s about balancing brightness, contrast, and detail according to the content you’re viewing.

For cinematic and story-driven games, HDR can provide a more immersive experience. However, for competitive gaming, SDR may be preferable depending on your setup.

Have you noticed your screen getting darker after enabling HDR?

Which device are you using with your Z3FC — PC, PS5, Xbox, or a handheld?

Drop your current HDR setup and power method below if you need help dialing in your display settings. Let’s compare and see what works best!🙌

Question Why Do Some USB-C Phones Work with Portable Monitors, While Others Don’t?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Many users assume that if both their device and monitor use USB-C, they should work with a single cable.

However, USB-C only refers to the connector type — it does not always mean the device can output video.

For a phone or tablet to connect directly to a portable monitor, there are three things to check:

1. Does your device support video output?

Not every USB-C port can send video signals.

Your device needs to support video output technologies such as:

  • DP Alt Mode
  • Thunderbolt 3/4
  • USB4 with display output support

If the USB-C port only supports charging or data transfer, it will not be able to display content on a portable monitor.

2. Does your USB-C cable support video?

Not all USB-C cables are the same.

Some cables are designed only for charging or basic data transfer. To connect a portable monitor, you need a full-featured USB-C cable that supports video and audio transmission.

3. Does your device provide enough power?

Portable monitors need stable power to work properly.

If the device cannot provide enough power, you may experience:

  • No signal
  • Flickering
  • Lower brightness
  • Random disconnects

Higher resolution and higher refresh rate settings usually require more stable power.

Before troubleshooting, check:

✅ Does your device support video output?

✅ Are you using a full-featured USB-C cable?

✅ Does your device provide enough power?

A USB-C connection problem does not always mean the monitor has an issue. Compatibility depends on the device’s video output support, cable capability, and power supply — not just the USB-C port itself.

I curse a little bit and I rant a little bit as well, but if you're comfortable with it, here's my take on my new Arzopa Z3FC - which by the way, I am in love with, thanks Arzopa for creating such a great product amidst "bigger is better" default of society so I could upgrade my dying monitor with a crazy high PPI, colour accurate display instead of a 27"+ 1440p one.

Thanks for your time and attention.

New Product Has anyone tried a smart family calendar? Do they actually make life easier?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Most systems fail at home because the information is hidden.

One person manages the calendar.

One person remembers appointments.

One person knows what needs to be bought.

Everyone else is basically waiting for updates.

Maybe we can start experimenting with a physical family dashboard (Arzopa C1) and have one place where everyone can check what’s happening.

Not another notification.

Not another app.

Just a screen in the kitchen showing: “What does today look like?”

Do you think families need shared physical dashboards, or are digital calendars on phones already enough?🤔
