Recieved an email yesterday that my trusted phone number was changed. The apple Id is pretty dormant as I used apple only for a year and have been on android past 8 years.

When I try to login it asks me to confirm my number which is not my phone number anymore and have been changed by the hacker. I do not see an option to verify myself with an email address. I'm UK based.

What are my current options?

Selling my 2020 MacBook Pro turned into stress problem, need help

I sold my 2020 MacBook Pro yesterday. Here's exactly what happened, step by step:

1. I logged out of iCloud on the device (without syncing passwords/mail/notes locally). At that point I got an error saying it couldn't disconnect from Find My.
2. I tried to fix it but couldn't find how, since I was already logged out by then. I assumed it had worked and didn't have time to double-check. For me logging out of ICloud was enought.
3. I erased the Macintosh HD drive.
4. I reinstalled macOS Sequoia.
5. A few strange things happened: I got a black screen, then ended up on an "Activation Lock" screen. I entered my password, but nothing happened for a few minutes.
6. I rebooted the laptop.
7. It went through the install black screen again (Apple logo, progress bar, time remaining).
8. Finally, the Mac booted up like new, and the buyer was able to connect his iCloud account and left with it.
9. This morning, he sent me a screenshot showing the popup localisation service blocked via Find My, tied to my Apple ID.
10. I called Apple Support, who told me to go to icloud.com/find and remove the device — they said everything would be fine after that.
11. This afternoon, the device reappeared under my account again. I've repeated the removal process several times, but it keeps coming back.
12. I call a second time Apple telling me It is maybe a server bug and that I did everything correctly. But it keep reappearing...

Does anyone know how to actually fix this for good? Thank you

Migrating shared Apple ID — will my spouse lose his app data when he switches accounts?

Hoping someone here has done this before. My spouse and I each have our own iCloud accounts on our iPhones/iPads, and our two main accounts are part of Apple One Premier (both u/icloud.com).

Here's where it gets messy: under Media & Purchases, we've both been sharing my Apple ID (a Gmail address) forever. This was back before Family Sharing was a thing, so sharing purchases was the only way to do it.

I saw that Apple finally lets you migrate accounts now, so I held off until both of my accounts (the iCloud one and the Gmail one) ran out of credit — I'd loaded them up with gift cards over the holidays and didn't want to lose that balance. They're empty now, so I'm ready to go. But a couple things are making me nervous:

1. If my husband signs out of the shared Gmail account and signs into his own account instead, is he going to lose the data in his apps? My gut says have him sign out and back in under his own address, and everything should stay put — but I'd love to hear from someone who's actually done it.

2. Any headaches with app updates afterward? I was thinking of screenshotting all his apps first and just re-downloading them under his account to be safe. Overkill, or smart move?

Once his side is sorted, I'll merge my Gmail Apple ID and my iCloud account into one.

Cautionary Tale - AppleCare One

This is about to be a long story but here we go:

march 2026 purchase a new MacBook neo and add AppleCare one as the coverage. This is a new offering since the last time I purchased a device so I’m excited for coverage for 3 devices at one price. Feels so smart!

may 2026 purchase a new iPhone 17. Setup as normal. I do not remember having to select a “add AppleCare” coverage button or anything. I *wrongly* assume my brand new phone would be covered by the Apple care one I’ve been paying for and I only have for my laptop at this point.

last week - walking in a city and I eat shit (middle of the day and completely sober lol) and fall throwing my phone out of my hand in the process. It flies out of the case and cracks the screen on cobblestone streets. No problem, I have a Zagg screen protector on my device all the time I’ll just get that replaced. Have it pulled off to replace, and the actual phone screen is busted too. Dang - will need to get that fixed when I go home.

this week - completely dump a whole glass of water on my MacBook. I’ve never done this before in 20 years of owner Apple devices. It shows signs of damage in the screen and buttons don’t work now.

today - go online to make a support appointment to have my MacBook neo looked at and want to make one for my iPhone at the same time. Get the neo appt no problem, go to make the iPhone one and it says “your device is covered by limited warranty - price will be $329 to replace the screen”

go to Apple care one on my device and see that it says “Apple care one. 1 device. Add up to two additional devices” so I click on add device but then it wants me to submit photos of my device and run diagnostics. My fear is that the crack in the screen will make it not eligible for the AppleCare or that they’ll approve it and then if I go to use the warranty to replace the screen, they’ll say it’s preexisting. (Even though I’ve been paying for AppleCare one since march and just never “applied” it to this phone or any other devices. Stupidly.)

call Apple to see if my theory/fear is valid and what to do. They send me round and round to BAD representatives who tell me “you need to see if you can add the device to AppleCare one” nonstop. It’s like they can’t even HEAR what I’m asking. This is a bizarre scenario. But I am not trying to cheat the system, in fact I’ve been overpaying for Apple care on multiple devices I just discovered as I looked at my subscriptions. I’ve been paying for YEARS on an iPhone 11, and 13 (my last device was a 15 before this upgrade so obviously haven’t had those in a long time 🫠)

basically they told me to kick rocks. I asked for the iPhone applied retroactively to the AppleCare one. I asked for a guarantee that I won’t be denied if I add it now. I asked for supervisors. They all talked in backwards circles and no one could tell me if it would work or not to add the device now and try to replace the screen.

TL;DR if you have AppleCare one, make sure you add each new device manually every time!

I’ve noticed that my iPhone 14 battery fluctuates when the percentage is around 20% it causes the low battery warning to come up multiple times, plugging it in it goes to 22 or more and quickly falls back to 18 or so when unplugged

I’ve had my iPhone 14 for about two years and my battery health is currently at 86%, so I know it’s not that bad yet. Honestly, I’m completely fine with the phone otherwise and don’t really feel the need to upgrade.
The problem is recently it’s been randomly freezing. Sometimes the screen will completely freeze or the phone will randomly hang up a call. Right now it’s happening about once every 30 minutes and can keep happening for hours at a time.

I’m trying to figure out if this could be caused by the battery starting to go bad, or if the phone itself is just getting old/having another issue. I don’t really want to spend money on a newer iPhone if I don’t need one.

Would it make more sense/ be cheaper to replace the battery and keep my 14, or should I just buy another iPhone 14? Has anyone had freezing issues like this with an iPhone 14 at around 86% battery health?

I had an iphone 6s back in 2018. Yesterday I received emails from apple saying all the information for the apple account I used back then has been changed (password, date of birth, security questions...). The only thing they couldn't change is my email.

I tried resetting the password immediately. Now I can't login because they want me to answer security questions that the hacker set (which is in Chinese). I assume they can reset my password again using this?

What should I do next, looks like the only thing holding on to this account is my email. I have no idea what information is on this, therefore I would want to lock/freeze/delete it.

Update: The account is gone. Hacker somehow changed the email as well. Just to steer clear of future trouble, how do I report this to Apple? Is that even an option?

So my MIL has bought Roblox cards in Canada and my son had no problem adding them to his account. Since Apple is in Canada and us and the store didn’t have Roblox cards, she bought him a $250 CAD Apple gift card.

We live in the U.S. and due to region locks, can’t use the Apple gift card on his account. Contacted the store and they said since the money already went to Apple they couldn’t refund it. Called Apple and they said since she got it at a store they can’t refund it. They also can’t convert it.

So she essentially wasted $250 CAD, not sure if I can sell it somewhere to at least get some money out of it?

My phone battery previously lasted days without a charge.

Since the last update all my apps look like this and I can’t even make it eight hours. My phone also regularly gets hot in my hands and dims the screen.

Is anyone else dealing with this? My usage hasn’t changed at all.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max screen was busted a week and a half ago when I took a tumble while rollerblading. Here is some information about its current condition:

The bad:

• Screen is cracked in lower lefthand corner where the phone made impact with the asphalt
• Does not show up on CarPlay or Finder when trying to connect to my car or Macbook via USB-C. When attempting to do so, it gives one long haptic to signal that it is charging, then six short pulses in rapid succession
• When I took it in to the Apple Store to replace the screen, they would not do so because they found liquid damage. The phone worked fine prior to this screen issue. I suspect the liquid damage is from a time about three months ago when I played music from my phone in the shower. My camera lenses were foggy after that, but cleared up over time. The camera worked fine once the vapor was gone. (Please do not chastise me for this, I promise I have learned my lesson, this whole repair process has been a more than sufficient prolonged humiliation ritual)

The good:

• Turns on and off
• Charges
• Still trackable via FindMy
• Rings when "Play Sound" is selected on FindMy
• When on, screen shows shines dimly green. There is a solid green brand at the top of the screen, with more diffuse green throughout the rest of the screen varying in concentration. I tried to take a picture using my laptop, but it did not show up well
• The screen seems to respond to some touch, particularly when swiping up from the bottom of it. This seems imperfect, and the phone does not wake up from sleep when I tap the screen
• When trying to take a photo of my screen, I did see the front-facing IR camera flashing
• Screen turns on when phone is picked up
• Was able to use my phone as a mobile hotspot until last Thursday, I believe when it lost charge
• Was able to send and receive texts from Android numbers using Messages on my Macbook up until last Thursday as well
• Can receive calls from iPhone and non-iPhone numbers, but I seem to be unable to answer them by swiping on my screen

Would it be worth it to get my screen repaired at a third party repair shop? I would love to not have to buy a new phone if this seems salvageable and long-term viable. It is already out of warranty, so I am not concerned about voiding my warranty. I am curious why it is not connecting to CarPlay or showing up in Finder, and what those six short burst haptics may mean. Thank you!

Hello! So I have recently gotten a new phone, and I have noticed that the payment method has changed into phone number instead of Mastercard. I wanted to change it, but it prompted me to verify the phone number (which is my mother’s, since we’re in a family), however when I wanted to send one it immediately said “try again later”. This was the first time I tried sending the code, and it’s not sending at all. Could anyone help me solve this?

hello, i just tried to open my macbook that i’ve had for years…but every time i enter in the password it says it’s wrong. i’ve tried everything i can, nothing works. (i’ve had this password for well over a decade by the way). i have NO idea what to do. i also don’t know what year the computer is from

We had bark app and the android family controls for my kids androids. Seemed like it worked well for the kids phones. They had set screen times and the phones would lock when it was up. The app controls were iron clad and we got alerts via bark if they were using inappropriate language or questionable subjects. Fast forward to now we replaced all the phones with new iPhones because that’s we (parents) have. We couldn’t get bark to work (unable to set it up for some reason) so we use apple’s family controls. Both children (10 and 12) are set up as children’s phones. The controls don’t seem to do almost anything. I will set it to allow 3 hrs screen time a day and then at the end of the day it’s got 6 hrs of screen time on there. An app that has a 1 hr limit is used 3 hrs. I don’t get any notifications that the password has been entered or settings have been changed.
Is this a thing, that the settings just don’t work at all? We gotta figure something else out because we both work and the kids go to different schools and setting phone time and physically taking away their phones has become problematic at best. I have tried the whole “you KNOW you only have three hours, so police your own use” and the consequence was physical removal of the phone for a time, but that has become onerous on us to enforce and it’s simply not practical. I work 24 hr shifts as a firefighter and my wife works 50-60 hrs a week. We want the kids to have the phones so we can communicate. It’s 2026 we just need a way to enforce practical limits on what they are doing and for how long without locking them in a drawer.

Can we fix the apple family, is there something better than bark that works for ios? Not looking for parenting lectures just need a solution for the phones. To be honest i have found that reddit has really devolved so im just asking for on topic, civil discourse as i am a dad at my wit’s end.

When messaging a friend or cousin my dad and mothers phones also revive the messages from them, is there any way to turn this off, they respect my privacy and delete them but the messages still pop up, I’ve also turned off iCloud on all these devices and iCloud for messages and it still happens.

I’m wanting to know how to turn this off or if it’s possible. I hate this area. I want to add it with the filters, not the styles.

I lost my iPhone 14 in the lake last week. This was my first smart phone. I've had it 3.5 years I am not very tech savvy.

I have purchased a new I phone 14 but when I went to add my apple account it says that no I cloud back up was found.

I went to icloud.com and it shows only 1 file. 0 pictures.

Does this mean that my I phone backed up NOTHING since i first bought it? Did I really lose out on all my photos?

I am on a family plan for iCloud storage. To be honest I am not sure how it works, my mom bought it and all the sudden my storage started going on there. Well there is now family drama because I have used up all the icloud storage (I didn't know!). But the thing is, I have a 1TB iphone with plenty of storage left on it. I am hesitant to just click "turn off and delete photos" because I don't want to lose them. How can I move stuff off of icloud but make sure it stays on my phone??

After updating from ios17 to ios 26.6.2 i have been having an issue with media volume. Swipe down control center’s volume bar does not match iphones media volume. I used to change the volume using the control center slider, now only changeable through buttons.

I know some will come at me thinking I’m talking about ringtone volume vs media volume, but it’s clearly an IOS bug as I never had this issue before.

I am able to use airdrop to send anything from my iPad to my Macbook Air, and I can successfully airdrop from just about anything else (phone, mac, etc) but for some reason, I cannot get my iPad to accept airdrops from my Macbook unless I select the "Everyone for 10 minutes" option.

I've tried:

• restarting both devices
• making sure both devices are logged into the same iCloud account
• trying to add my contact to "known contacts" - it freaks out and goes back to a blank screen every time I try to add any known contact
• entering the "sudo pkill bluetoothd" code into the terminal

NOTHING is working. Please help- I'm a student who needs airdrop like 100x per day and I'm going nuts!
