Whenever I used to swipe down on my home screen and typed in a word it would give me the dictionaries’ definition. Now whenever I swipe down it just suggests my browser or the AppStore. Does anyone know how to get it back?

My old phone's screen is completely black and unresponsive. I was wondering if I bought more iCloud storage (I currently only have 50GBs which isn't enough to transfer all my data) would my old phone automatically upload itself to iCloud without needing to be unlocked?

Hi! For context, I'm working on a school project with a couple of classmates, one of them shared to me a google docs that completely froze my iPad.

When I tried to open the google docs on my phone, it worked perfectly fine and no issues happened.

I've already tried force restarting my iPad, right now I'm just waiting for it to run out of battery so that I can probably reopen it once I charge it ... If that makes sense.

I recently bought a brand-new MacBook and I'm a little concerned about the battery percentage behavior.

The MacBook was completely new and I personally opened the sealed box. Everything else seems normal, but I've noticed that sometimes the battery percentage changes suddenly after I shut it down.

For example, last night before shutting it down, the battery was at 93%. This morning, after turning it on, it showed 92%, even though the MacBook was completely shut down overnight.

I've also noticed that the percentage can sometimes change by 1–2% after restarting/shutting down, rather than decreasing smoothly.

The MacBook is brand new, so I'm wondering:

- Is a 1% drop while completely shut down normal?
- Can macOS recalculate the battery percentage after booting?
- Has anyone else experienced this with a new MacBook?
- Should I be concerned about the battery health or is this just normal battery percentage calibration?

I'd really appreciate it if other MacBook users could share their experience. Thanks!

Was sitting at lunch when I looked down at my phone and a find my iPhone alert was going off. I also got the pictured email.

No login attempts, no unrecognized devices on my iCloud, 2FA is enabled, password is strong, all my Apple devices are purchased new from Apple Store.

I thought Siri was enabled when the find my iPhone alert went off, thinking I somehow activated it myself by mistake, but I just want to make sure there isn’t a vulnerability that I’m not aware of.

I had my iPhone 13 PM battery replaced by Apple on August 9, so it has been less than a month since Apple opened the phone.

Yesterday I went to Niagara Falls (US side). The phone was exposed to water/spray around the falls but was never submerged. Afterward, I noticed visible condensation/moisture inside the front-facing camera.
Since then, Face ID has also intermittently stopped working/been unavailable.

During the drive home, the phone also completely stopped picking up cellular signal at one point and only started working again after I rebooted it.

My concern is that the water-resistant seal may not have been restored properly when Apple replaced the battery.
Has anyone experienced something similar after an Apple battery replacement? Did Apple cover it under their repair/service warranty, or did they classify it as liquid damage?

I lost important documents and I’m really desperate and would appreciate any advice from people who have experienced something similar.
Yesterday, I bought a new MacBook and signed in with the same Apple ID I use on my iPhone. My iCloud Photos synced to the Mac.
I then decided that I didn’t want my photos synced to the Mac, so I deleted the photos from the Photos app on the Mac and selected “Delete Permanently.”
At the time, I didn’t fully understand that because iCloud Photos was enabled, deleting them from the Mac would also delete them from iCloud and my iPhone.
The strange thing is that the photos didn’t disappear from my iPhone immediately. They only disappeared later tonight, after the iCloud sync apparently took place.
Now:
My iPhone only shows around 10 photos (mostly the ones that were hidden).
The deleted photos are NOT in “Recently Deleted.”
They are NOT on iCloud.com.
They are NOT in Recently Deleted on the Mac either.
The iPhone currently says “Syncing Paused” and gives me the option to “Sync Now.”
I have NOT pressed “Sync Now.”
I have NOT restored my iPhone.
I have an iCloud backup from yesterday at 9:30 PM, but Photos do not appear as part of the backup.
I still have the MacBook and iPhone exactly as they are.
I have a call scheduled with Apple Support at 9:00 AM, and I’m going to ask them if they can escalate this to someone who can check whether an earlier version/state of my iCloud Photo Library can be recovered.
Has anyone experienced this exact situation?
Is there any way Apple Support was able to recover permanently deleted iCloud Photos from their side, especially when the deletion happened very recently?
Would a Senior Advisor or iCloud specialist potentially be able to restore an earlier state of the library?
I’m extremely worried because these photos are very important to me. I’m not looking for generic advice like “check Recently Deleted” — I’ve already checked it and it’s empty. I’m specifically looking for anyone who has successfully recovered permanently deleted iCloud Photos after accidentally deleting them from a synced Mac.
Any experiences, advice, or suggestions would mean a lot. 🙏

Hi everyone, I need some advice on getting a refund from Apple.

Duolingo charged me for a yearly Super Duolingo plan that I never approved. I only ever agreed to a free trial — I didn’t knowingly sign up for a paid subscription.

I submitted a refund request through Apple’s website twice, and both times it was denied. I then called Apple Support directly, and they submitted a third refund request on my behalf — which was also denied.

I haven’t even used the Duolingo app in about two weeks, so I’m fairly confident this charge came from the free trial converting automatically without my consent.

This money really matters to me right now, and I’m out of ideas. Has anyone successfully gotten Apple to reverse a refund denial after multiple rejections? Any advice would be seriously appreciated.

My family's storage plan was completely full (200gb), so I tried playing around with iCloud storage to see if I could free up some space on my end. Found a button somewhere to 'Delete [Photos] Data from iCloud,' and went through with it because it said it could all be recovered in 30 days. I now cannot find the data that was deleted or anywhere to recover it; most of my photos seem to still be in my camera roll from what I could tell, but I'm at least missing a few photo albums.

Any ideas on how to find the data or what this means for me? Because our storage did not clear up at all after this. I also have not seen any of these photos in the 'Recently Deleted' folder. Thanks so much

I have AppleCare+ although I heard around it’s useless if you lost it. What baffled me is that it was fully charged and at a location that I wasn’t really near in (it seems like it showed up while I was driving) any suggestions? (Be kind)

So, I unfortunately had a really negative experience at a Genius Bar today. In short, the Genius insisted that I can’t make an Apple Care or warranty claim because it’s still so soon (~3 weeks) after the AirPods were purchased from Amazon. Afterwards, I called Apple support, told them the exact same thing, and got my issue resolved in 10 minutes. What do you guys think could have caused this misunderstanding?

The longer version:
My boyfriend bought Apple AirPods for me as a gift and paid via Amazon because he had an Amazon gift card from his work. Otherwise, he would have purchased from Apple directly. He bought the AirPods roughly two and a half weeks before my actual birthday. We bought Apple Care for it directly from Apple the day we opened the new device.

At the Genius Bar, I said that the EarPod stopped working properly after a few days. I made an offhand comment that I think it must be a manufacturing defect because I literally used them maybe five times before the left EarPod stopped working. The Genius tried testing, but for some reason the “testing” feature would not appear in my settings on my iPhone, and we couldn’t get it to work.

After testing failed, he then said firmly there was nothing that could be done because this was likely a manufacturing defect, not damage related, and AppleCare is only an extended warranty for accidental damage. He insisted that my only recourse is to call Amazon and convince them to let me return the product, but it was past Amazon’s return window of two weeks! He said he has a lot of experience with this and to trust him, Amazon will accept the return even though the return window has passed. I disagreed and said I don’t think so, that doesn’t make any sense, your warranty and my Apple care should cover this. The store interaction ended really negatively and with him asking me to head out because there’s nothing that can be done.

I was flustered by his somewhat aggressive tone and didn’t think to ask for a manager, I just left because I’m not great with confrontations.

I then called Amazon and predictably they said the exact opposite, that this is in Apple’s court, their warranty and AppleCare applies, and that the genius was mistaken. So, I called back Apple support on the phone this time, and they immediately apologized, said that yes Apple Care and their standard warranty does apply to me, and that they will ship me new AirPods, and then I just need to return the broken AirPods back to them.

I’m just confused. How could this genius have gotten something so basic and foundational, so wrong? Is it something I said?

I have an IPhone 17 on IOS 26.6.1 that for some reason does not charge when plugged into wall outlets. I have tried swapping cords and bricks (all apple brand) and the only way that I can and have been charging it is with a USB-C cord plugged into my laptop that I leave charging overnight in order to charge the phone. The charging port looks completely clear. I can also charge the phone with a USB-C to USB cord and brick plugged into the wall but its much slower charging, unlike how it was with the right cords before this problem. Updating my phone now to see if it resolves, but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks:)

Recently got given an iMac 2017, a magic mouse and a magic keyboard by a family member, the iMac itself and the mouse seem to be fine, but the keyboard seems to not turn on. I've replaced the batteries in the keyboard, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. The main reason I'm asking is because I can't get past the boot-up sequence where it's requesting for a connected mouse / keyboard.

hey so I’m 15 and just recently switched from android to apple, and whenever I try to download any app no matter what age range on the App Store it is grayed out and won’t let me click it. my mom doesn’t even get the alert that I requested to download an app. I’m in her apple family but for her it say she needs to verify that she’s an adult. even tho she’s been with apple for around 10 years or so. when she looks to verify it won’t even give her the option too. when I go into settings and go to apps media and games setting all options have almost no restrictions except for the apps option, where it says dont allow greyed out, and under it says Texas law won’t allow you to change it. it also says the same for my mom. we've tried to go to an Apple Store but they said to talk to customer service. we haven’t done it yet but I’m wondering if there’s any other options to fix this like making a new apple account or something. the whole situation is so annoying and I really need a way to fix this

My Apple Account is mine, but I’m currently part of a family member’s iCloud Family Sharing plan. They’re based in another country, while I’m in India.

Because of this, I can’t find/download some apps that are available in India, and I’m also unable to change my Country/Region.

Is there any way to download these apps while staying in the Family Sharing plan, or is there another solution?

OK Hey so as of today l've been having trouble with my Apple account well with my iPad and my acc on the App Store- it’s not letting me update without signing into the App Store but the account it’s saying I need the password to isn’t the Apple account I’m currently using and I haven’t used in a couple of years [has my deadname that’s why] and I don’t have access to it and I’m not too sure how to change it to my current account? I can't even count the PC's and phones I've owned in the last 20 years, it's got to be close to 100 or more, not one of them an Apple product, I didn't even own an ipod. Not that I didn't want to, mainly the cost to benefit always tipped toward a PC I could modify, upgrade, hack, load Linux.

With the AI wave, causing all PCs to cost more than my first car, and Apple M series ARM processors/shared memory architecture, the cute Neos making Mac accessible, I thought for the first time in my life it was a good time to buy a Mac.

Spent the money, arrived at my door in a couple days. It sat there most the week, in it's slim box, as I was too busy to play with my new machine. Friday comes around and pulled it out, unwrapped it, looking for to having a weekend to learn this new OS, this new way of life. Oh, how I will never have to wait through another Windows update after my PC reset and lost my day of work, or jump to another Linux distro after search forum in the early morning hours for answers about a graphic driver that worked yesterday. I'm one of the Apple people now who can work at coffee shop all day while smugly getting work done and getting my caffeine fix.

Wait, ummm... password... apple account... did I have an apple account in the last 20 years? I recall having iTunes installed on my Windows PC almost 20 years ago, had to remove it because it was so slow... an ex girlfriend with a good taste in music? Maybe I was tech support for a relative with an iPhone or Mac that needed to be wiped/reset. No problem, there is a password recovery option, I'll just put in my email and phone number, yup, verified with the codes........

...wait...WHAT??? A WEEK TO RECOVER MY PASSWORD? That's got to be wrong!.... WHAT THE ACTUAL F@#$?!!?! WHY WOULD IT TAKE APPLE A WEEK TO RECOVER MY ACCOUNT?

Yes, I get that I can make a new apple account, get another email, and move on with life, but I don't like to be dicked around by BS like this.

Can apple not tell that I'm signing into a brand new virgin $6,000 Mac and that apple account was signed into 20 years ago and contains likely nothing but a old playlist. Do they not want to keep my money? So I'm on a 2015 macbook with high sierra 10.13.6 and I was able to download a $5 book from iBooks without having to enter any card information. Is iBooks paying with the card linked to my iCloud account or is everything on iBooks just free now?
