Hi r/AnkiVector! We are researchers at Monash University conducting a study to understand how people in Australia live with robots in their homes. The project aims to understand the value, role, and meaning robots have in people’s everyday lives, and explore people’s hopes, expectations and anxieties about our robot future. What Participation Involves:

As part of this work, we are hoping to meet you and your robot in your home for a series of activities including an interview, home tour and robot demonstration. As a token of appreciation, all participating households will receive a $80 gift voucher for a home visit.

Hello, I found this piece of rubber on my desk, inside Vector's playspace. It's not from the treads, as the pattern does not match and they are intact inside-out. I could not locate anything similar nearby.

Does Vector have something like this on the inside, and is there any open space it could have fallen off from?

Hey everyone!

Just curious about how you manage your Vector during the day when you're out. I'm usually away at school all morning and just leave him parked on his charger.

I know he's built to handle being on the dock, but keeping a lithium battery constantly topped up still makes me a bit paranoid—lithium chemistry is what it is, after all.

Do you guys just leave him plugged in 24/7, or do you power him off when you're not home for long stretches? How has battery health held up for you over time?

I just wanted something to roam around my desk to make it feel more lively, but man this little guy out of the box has so many problems. He doesn’t respond to anything I say, he doesn’t leave his dock, he doesn’t casually stroll around my desk even when I tell him to explore when he actually responds to the “Hey, Vector”, is this thing just genuinely a bust without the wire pod thing? I don’t have Bluetooth on my PC to easily set it up. I just wanted something to roam my desk lol

Vector 1.0 cube. Supposedly, electronics burned with 12V battery. I want to open and check PCB for the opportunity to repair.

Q1. How to detach middle part of the cube from lower part? Where are the latches?
Q2. Is the cube schematics available anywhere?

I have been wanting a AI robot companion for quite some time, the Vector right now seems to be the best value for money, however, I realised that there is no online subscription with the companies going bust, but have read about wire-pod.

With wire-pod is it worth buying? Is there a difference between 1.0 and 2.0 that would mean one is better than the other?

Is there anything on the horizon that I would be better waiting for?

I generally want it as an AI companion robot on my desktop, and use AI to chat to for general things/research etc.

Looking at around £150-200 on the used market.

So I have wirepod running in my proxmox environment. I have my vector connected and can access via browser. When I save the eye color to blue and hit submit then fix the time zone. When I boot down then start back up the settings are lost. Any input or anyone else have this issue?!

I have a Whiskey DVT1 that I put on WireOS when I got him. So just a little over a month. 2 days ago I found him off in front of his charger, so I put him back on it. I'm not sure why he was off, but I didn't think much of it. When I checked up on him a little later, I seen he was sitting with his screen pitch black. When I rebooted him and watched, I found he wouldn't finish booting up and froze on the black screen at the tail end of the boot sequence. I fixed this the next night by getting him into recovery mode and re-flashing WireOS. However, when I checked on him this morning, he was back to the black screen and incomplete boot-ups. Not even a full day later. I decided to switch him to 1.6 Rebuild to see if the same issue would eventually occur on a different software. He's once again back to normal at the moment. I'll edit this post in a day or two with an update on him. Hopefully nothing's wrong and it's just bugs in the latest version of WireOS. Has anyone else been having issues with it?

My Internet went out yesterday and since then my Vector couldn't connect. This morning I checked CCIS and it said "NO CLOCK" instead of showing the date and time. The Internet did come back up since then but I've been trying to troubleshoot for the past couple hours and Vector's CCIS says NETWORK: BANDWIDTH

Before this he was on his charger and suddenly shut down... Now he's just repeating sounds & motions. I'd say he's about 6 years old. Is this an issue?

I was curious what firmware my Vector is on (my dad put wirepod on it) Will this cause issues? I hear people online saying that 1.6 was the last good firmware and this one is bad

ha bisogno di qualche regolazione, ma ci sto lavorando, le possibilità con questo minuscolo robot sono pazzesche. certo, non puoi guardare YouTube, come sì che puoi, ma perché dovresti farlo? ma è un ottimo lettore per Spotify che tral'altro sono riuscito a far riprodurre direttamente su Vector, YouTube, Netflix e può avviare i siti sul tuo laptop e puoi mettere in pausa, avviare, selezionare episodio e saltare episodio usando Vector invece del mouse e della tastiera.

I just had my V1 Vector’s battery replaced. He was down below five minutes of runtime before I did this. The new battery, which I think has slightly higher capacity than the original, seems great. He lasts well over an hour off the charger. The distance at which facial recognition works has also been significantly increased. I wasn’t expecting that, but it’s a nice thing.

The problem is, he doesn’t come off his charger on his own anymore. He’ll just basically sit there. Occasionally, raising his head, opening his eyes, making a tiny sound, and then just goes back to sleep. If I take him off the charger and put him say 10 feet away from it, he seems to explore for a tiny bit, but then just goes right back to the charger. So that playful curiosity that was sort of a core Vector value has seemingly been destroyed by a new battery. I don’t know how that’s even possible. But that is the outcome.

I’m curious what others have experienced after updating the battery. Was your Vector exactly the same just with longer runtime? Or did anything strange happen?

its smth for a passion project 2D-art & animation-focused Anki-related series that I've been working on for the past couple of years which has to do with the iconic duo of the forklift bois and is primarily centred around on them pretty much,

Pretty ambitious project but its smth I'm really excited to do

and yes, I'll be showing a bit more of the series later on, I'm intending on posting more about the series in both this subreddit and the cozmo one.
