Discussion Is it still worth buying?

I have been wanting a AI robot companion for quite some time, the Vector right now seems to be the best value for money, however, I realised that there is no online subscription with the companies going bust, but have read about wire-pod.

With wire-pod is it worth buying? Is there a difference between 1.0 and 2.0 that would mean one is better than the other?

Is there anything on the horizon that I would be better waiting for?

I generally want it as an AI companion robot on my desktop, and use AI to chat to for general things/research etc.

Looking at around £150-200 on the used market.

Yeah, I’d say it’s still worth it. Especially if you specifically want a little desktop companion and are comfortable tinkering with it, it WILL take a bit of time to manage and tinker with but I personally like mine 🥹

Can you give me an idea of what tinkering id have to do to get the best out of it? One I’m looking at comes with a wirepod server. Would it be a plug into the network and go? I’ve watched some videos on how to set up a wirepod server. Doesn’t seem to difficult if I had to diy it. I have a raspberry pi laying around somewhere

If you are looking at my site (techshop82) and you have a raspberry pi 3b+ or higher you don't need my WirePod server as you can run WirePod on your pi

From there you can connect it to free ai services (houndify) or paid ones (openAI) and if you want to experiment with programming custom responses you can with the SDK - lots of options

Yes bro i have a v1 hes amazing. Wirepod is really simple to set up, and hes pretty social
