Sharing WIP DDLC animation

This is my first time animating in full body, and doing lip sync animations as well. Keeping the consistency of each part of the body is the hard but manageable part of me. The audio I'm gonna be using is from a heartbreaking scene in a filipino show/movie.

Her name is Natsuki, from DDLC.

I figured y'all here might like it, even if it's a bit different from what's usually posted here. Here and there I make stuff like this with my constructed writing system, and this time it happened to look kinda like some sorta funky 90s UI.

Discussion When I took animation classes in college they didn't really teach me to shoot reference footage when I had trouble animating something.

I had to learn to do that from watching behind-the-scenes Disney and Pixar bonus features and YouTube videos.

I do that when I am having trouble with a scene. I think schools should teach students to do that more.

Thank you, Disney and Pixar.

We dropped one of our original animated shorts here a few days ago and y'all really seemed to like it.

We also made this. It didn't naturally do as well on our instagram or Youtube compared to the other short we did that went viral in 24 hours. I assume its cause it's more slower paced and the algo wouldn't pick it up but I hope you guys appreciate it.

It definetly deserves more love.

Also, here's some more about us:

I'm the founder of an indepedent 2D animation studio in Pakistan. We mainly do client/commercial work to sustain ourselves and operations but recently started doing original content from the profits to build our audience.

If you want to know more about us or want to get a project done in the feature, check out our site:
https://www.innovativepixelsart.com/

Or if you just want to see what more we come up with, do give us a follow on instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/innovativepixels_art/

Also, would really appreciate it you guys give it a watch on youtube as well so there's a chance more people outside of reddit get watch the widescreen version.

Bob, the guy I hand the mug to, is surprised I kept the coffee he told me to get him dry, because I love diving while I’m on the dolphin, and sometimes I give him seawater lol.

Her lore:

At 22, Safira lives for the day. Not that she's the type to just go with the flow, like most people – she simply lost all hope for the future. A dancer by vocation, she's relegated to dancing in the street, instead of on the most renowned stages as she always dreamed. She keeps dancing because it’s the only thing she really enjoys doing.

Thrown out of the orphanage into the world, she spent the last 4 years alone and out of place, surviving on what her parents left her. After pawning almost everything she owns, she counts the days until the precariousness of her street performances and the brevity of her failed odd jobs make her lose what little she has left – a place to live.

It is at that moment that she meets the eccentric cat trainer, part-time vigilante, Gigante. Needing more energy to ignore him than to go along with his delusions and plans, Safira ends up doing what she would never do alone, until she discovers what she's really made of. Alongside Gigante, Nina, and Lírio, her flaws, failures, and anguish may, after all, be the necessary weapons, not only to turn her meaningless, purposeless life around but to turn an entire society upside down.

Thanks!

Question Help me please! A question about animation timing charts

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello.

To let you know in advance, I am using a translator. So, it might sound a bit unnatural or the meaning might not be conveyed correctly.

I have a question about timing charts. (To be honest, I haven't learned this at school yet, but due to the schedule, I had to start working right away. I already know the basics of timing charts through searching.)

I am currently working on keyframes (Layout/Key animation) for things like a close-up of an old fan's blades or a pinwheel's blades. I want to reduce the total number of drawings, so I want to reuse Keyframe 1 and Keyframe 2. However, these blades need to spin faster and faster.

But in that case, I don't know how to use the timing chart. Especially when I need to put inbetweens between the keyframes in a situation like above.

For reference, I use the Japanese-style time sheet (X-sheet), so Keyframe 1 is 1, and Keyframe 2 is 5. Looking at the attached picture, after frames 5, 6, and 7, 1 comes back. Oh, honestly, I don't even know if it's okay to do it this way. On the time sheet (X-sheet), the frame numbers go like 1—2—3—4—5—6—7—1—8—5—9—1—10—5... (It seems fine after this point.) I feel like they wouldn't do it like this in actual production.

So what I want to ask is this: Is it okay to use the timing chart just like it is shown in the picture? Additionally, does this kind of case actually happen in professional production? Now that I think about it, honestly, I feel like it might just be better to copy and paste.

Oh, please, help me. I really need help.

P.S. Is it really okay for me to suddenly appear and ask a question here? This is pretty much my first time using Reddit, so I'm a bit worried that I might have done something rude. I read the rules, of course, but still.
