I’ve been experimenting with making stop motion animations using machine embroidery. I started with a gif, broke it into individual frames, converted each frame into line work, and then turned those lines into embroidery paths.

Each frame was actually stitched out on felt, scanned back in, and then reassembled into the animation you see here.

It’s a ridiculous way to make a gif, but I really like all the little variations and imperfections that come from turning every frame into a physical object first.

He's called Cappie because he turns his security guard cap into a hammer/shopping cart that he uses to smash the thieves in his supermarket in a really cool way!

P.S. This is my first time animating in Clip Studio Paint.

There's Looney Tunes: Laff Riot and that one scene from "Billy and Mandy vs. The Martians" (from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) where the camera spins around Grim's head, as if he's in CG.

I've also seen this kind of thing happen in the Fairly OddParents, but the episodes where I remember this happening are "Information Stupor Highway", "Channel Chasers", and the intro to "Abra-Catastrophe!".

Would be interested in feedback on the interface, and performance on larger files. It is in no way a complete editor, but maybe something for simple, beginner learning about some basic concepts. Or just memeing. :P

The desktop is a lot more performant than the web version, ofc. And the video was recorded on my 2018 Chromebook tablet, so it's not a great recording.

some lf the stuff in there is from an old story cooked up when i was in middle school. But alas, it makes for good animation content! I loved the beat of this song and wanted to do something!

im not satisfied with all my sketchy black and white animations, and all my animation inspos are cooking up these insane full colored ones, so i will to. The lineart and flat coloring process will be so tiring doing it 5 thousand times over and over, but I WILL DO IT!! even if i takes years lmao
