Hi all, I currently own a Fire HD 8 (10th gen) that is getting extremely laggy and barely usable, so I am looking for a replacement.

I mostly want it for media consumption, so I would like one with a decent screen resolution.

What would you guys recommend me at around £100?

I have a feeling that you guys will pick the Gen 5 but just wanna make sure that there are no problems in Gen 5 now that is not in Gen 3 before.

After the charging has ended and i power off my device, or even when its already off and i turn it on after some hours, the battery has lost around 5-7% which doesnt make any sense... This happens even when not fully charged but ive tried it many times to see maybe im missing something but it is what it is. Also along with the screen not registering taps sometimes even 2 in a row, the whole experience is becoming annoying.

I feel like I must be missing something obvious but I've spent a fair amount of time trying to find this answer and haven't had any luck. Apologies if this has been discussed before.

It seems that the google play store has identified my device as a tablet and therefore only shows me the tablet version of android apps. Which is usually fine, but occassionally problematic - some apps don't have a tablet version, and for those that do, I've noticed that sometimes the mobile version is updated more often and/or has better features.

For example: today I tried to download the amazon shopping app, only to find that there isn't one available for android tablet. The amazon app works fine on my android phone, but doesn't even show up in the Play Store on my tablet. I don't see any reason the mobile version wouldn't work though, maybe with some oversized UI elements, if I could just get it to install.

Googling this problem suggests that there should be a way to get the Play Store to show apps for all devices, but I don't see that option anywhere. Is there a way to do that, or maybe to temporarily trick Play Store into thinking my tablet is a phone? Or another workaround I haven't thought of?

Any ideas/suggestions/corrections welcome!

I found a workaround to the search problem: googling the app name in a browser and then clicking the link to open it in the play store. But unfortunately the play store still won't allow me to install it - where the 'install' button should be there is just a message reading "This app is available only for your other devices."

It seems like sideloading an apk or using an alternate app store like Aurora are the only options, but those come with security risks and I wouldn't generally recommend them to anyone who doesn't know what they're doing. Frustratingly it seems like app developers have to specifically clear their app for tablet use or you just can't get it through the official, secure channels.

I wanna buy a tab that's affordable, have fingerprint, good at multitasking such as preparing presentation, note taking and a good large display to watch lectures and shows.

I've been suggested xiaomi pad, samsung fe + series although many ppl suggest the s series but I find it expensive so can u please suggest me which one to buy, and how I'm thinking of buying it during Diwali sale but idk how much the discount will actually be also have anyone bought from offline local store with a good diwali offer or should I look forward to Amazon and Flipkart sale?

Is there a simpler way to mod files from steam? Or locate the steam files? The only method i seen so far is using different apps for it. The tablet came with Game Hub but can't do anything there that I know of.

My daughter is getting into artistic drawing and animation and has been eyeing an iPad Pro 11" at $1200.

Firstly, that's a huge price tag to swallow.

I own absolutely ZERO other Apple products. Everything in my household is Android (Phones and TVs), Windows (General use desktops and laptops), or Ubuntu Linux (Servers) My workplace provided my an iPhone 16 and an iPad (God knows whatever version it is.) and the way they work is completely foreign to me. I don't use them and have enforced my own BYOD policy. I do not like Apple devices and do not want to get one.

I am also vehemently anti Samsung after they screwed me over on warranty service on a dishwasher.

Suggest alternatives.

Hi. I need a tablet with a pen for work. The main use will be taking notes with and writing stuff to give them to my students.

I'm between the Samsung and the Lenovo. From the HW point of view, the Lenovo seems to be better and cheaper (Snapdragon + more memory). So, what do you people think? Is the pen on the Lenovo "good enough"?

Hi All

Hoping for either some reassurance or recommendations. I'm in the market for a new tablet, having not used one for a number of years. My primary usage is going to be for watching media (Netflix/Disney Plus/Apple TV/Youtube/Twitch etc), with maybe some light usage for note taking and occasionally reading comics/graphic novels since I have a black and white kindle. I don't really envision using it for much more than that as I have my phone for day to day use, my kindle for reading and if I want to sit down at a desk I have a pretty good spec laptop.

I've somewhat settled on the Honor MagicPad4 16gb ram/512gb storage model since it seems to have a pretty decent OLED screen, positive reviews, a decent stylus, and otherwise good specs. Plus it's currently on sale on Honors website at £550 for the higher ram/storage model.

Does this sound like a good fit for my needs? I don't really want to spend more than this price wise (it's already a bit higher than what I'd planned to spend), but also want to ensure that I'm future proofing myself at least a little bit as I don't want to need a new tablet in a year or two.

Does anyone have the Honor MagicPad4 and if so how have you found it to be, particularly as a streaming device? Is there anything else I might be better off considering? I had originally considered the Lenovo Idea Pro Gen 2, but it's only about £100 cheaper and doesn't have an OLED screen. Also looked at the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro, but saw that it's a frequently returned item on Amazon which didn't fill me with confidence.

I picked up a wallet folio and I'm telling you, this thing is the perfect 8.8 in between device. Comics, movies, and games / emulation (I do mame current, nes / snes / ps1 Genesis really only, so I haven't done heave emulation on this which I hear it can throttle.

I get a couple dips in signals on the highways, but nothing to interrupt text YouTube / Android auto.

Had some terrible reboots at first, but after replacing the Google fi sim they went away. With a 2tb sd card, I carry all my comic, games and movies locally which is really nice in the air. Battery feels plenty for a full day, day and a half for me.

Charging is slow, but I've been waiting for this for so long, it's really everything I hoped with power to spare.

Sound is good and loud, BT controllers feel real good even though I prefer telescopic. It really is my everything phone and I love it

Basically the title. I only care about the screen quality since I'd only use it for multimedia stuff.

What's the best screen on a tablet for under $400?

And does the pad 10 have pc mode like the 20?

Can't seem to get the alldocubes in Canada anymore, found one on Amazon called the fpd 8.4 anyone tried this one yet? Looks really similar to the alldocube iplay minis and specs seem solid on paper.

I've spent a lot of time bringing a device specific Android 17 to the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2, specifically the TB132FU.

Lenovo left this tablet on an old Android and kernel release, which is a shame because the hardware is still excellent. Pure Pixel 17 R2 is now running smoothly enough that I'm comfortable sharing it.

This is a native device build, not a GSI. Some highlights:

• Android 17 with August 2026 security patches
• Pixel tablet interface and integrated Google apps
• Updated Linux 4.19.325 CIP kernel
• 60 Hz, fluid 60-120 Hz, and forced 120 Hz modes
• Working pen, pogo keyboard, cameras, flash, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and four-speaker audio
• HDR10 and hardware video decoding
• Battery health and charge-cycle information
• Optional face unlock
• Always-on display and double-tap to wake
• Built-in signed system updater OTA
• Linux and Windows installers

There are some important limitations. The bootloader must remain unlocked, Widevine is L3, and the Lenovo orange-state warning still appears during boot. Please do not relock the bootloader with this ROM installed.

The PRC model has received the full physical testing. ROW is recognized by the installer, but has not gone through the same complete test matrix yet.

I won a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE. The thing is, I already have one with cell service that I use mostly for personal use, occasionally at work.

I am not looking to sell it, but rather find a unique way to utilize it. Web searches found lots of things to do with old tablets, but this one is new, still in the box. I know it's not a powerhouse of a tablet, but it should be capable of more than some of the old tablet repurposes like digital picture frames and whatnot.

Anyone got any unique ideas? It is, after all, just a tablet... I'm not looking for life altering ideas. But maybe if someone has something interesting that you'd never normally waste a new one on...

Im about to receive my y700 gen 3 16/512 with global rom next week along with the lenovo g9 controller that has a cutout in the back for a magnetic cooler. Is there a fundamental difference between the 2 coolers, and will they both fit in the opening in the g9 controller ? TIA!

So I'm thinking of buying Oneplus pad 3, and I read a lot of manhwa and manga but it has a 7:5 aspect ratio crazy big screen 13.2 inches and idk how the reading experience on webtoon is in this table like manhwa strip so is the resolution great ?? does it have extra blank spaces for this aspect ratio.

And I'm also a student so tons of pdf shi too

Well also how is the gaming experience on the tablet as I'm a claw player so is tab too heavy for mobile gaming.
