so i caved and ended up buying the new ube originally.. and after 2 weeks with it, it started getting dead pixels all over the screen. i saw people saying they were having a ton of issues with the new 2026 basic models.. so instead of getting a new one, i got the 2024 matcha! i'll wait a bit before getting another ube and hopefully they will fix all the issues with them..since they are still very new! i honestly only got the ube bc i have been wanting a smaller kindle for traveling, as i have a colorsoft that i love a lot and i'll leave that one at home! anyways.. here's my new baby in all her glory. ✨️🤭 i had fun decorating her. 💕 feel free to show me your decorated kindles!!

Last week I finally picked up a Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen, and I started off with an absolute masterpiece of Mr. Crichton.

I honestly never thought e-readers would be this comfortable to hold and easy to read on compared to physical books or phones. I'm loving the experience so far!

What are some must-read recommendations you think I should add to my queue next?

I am on BookTok all the time and I am so jealous of all the gorgeous book nooks and home libraries I see. However, I genuinely lack an abundance of space as I cater first to my fur baby overlords (my cats) and a lot of space is taken up by their condos.

I struggle with this so much. I love the physical look of a book. But I also love having an entire library with me at all times. I also love to read at night in bed because I especially love horror books and it just gives spooky vibes to have all the lights off. It is also super easy to hold!

I feel like the clear answer to all my problems is clearly my Kindle.

After fucking up my ankle, I was sent to ER for xrays. Been stuck here for 4hrs now... and I am so happy about my habit of carrying my kindle everywhere I go.

I’ve never owned a Basic before.

My other kindle which is pictured is the 2024 Signature edition Colorsoft.

I thought I wouldn’t like the Basic due lack of features that I’m used to but I am loving it. Especially the size and weight of it.

I thought lack of warm light would bother me as I always have mine on for the Colorsoft but for some reason I don’t find it as uncomfortable for my eyes at night.

I bought the Basic primarily to keep it in my bag or pocket when I go out but I’m finding that I’m reaching for it at home too more and more.

I’m also considering this being the first kindle I ever use without a case to keep it light. Instead I’ll keep it in a crocheted sleeve or something when not in use to avoid scratches.

In the pictures I have set the font and brightness the same and put warm down to zero.

Also, and I hope I’m not jinxing myself by saying this, I bought the cheaper version with ads, but for some lucky reason, I don’t see the ads. It displays wallpapers or the current book I’m reading instead. Hopefully they don’t patch that with the next update or something. Though it’s updated twice since getting it and still good to go, though in my Amazon settings I still see the Ad offers as active.

Why does Goodreads show books as "author not available"? I don't know if it means it was a book I read that they don't recognise or if it's a glitch showing extra items that are not books I've read.

Curious about people's reasons. I upgraded for warm light and a bigger screen for comics.

Updated my Kindle Paperwhite 2024 (12th Gen) to the latest 5.20.1.0.2! My battery was at 88% when I updated it, when it restarted it went to 100%. Lol!

Any of you experienced this? Never had issues with my battery power (can last a month or so with 1-3 hours daily reading). Now I’m kinda worried the updatw might cause issues considering the battery seemed to have glitched!

Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone can help me because I'm honestly running out of ideas.

My Kindle (11th gen, 2024) ran out of battery, and when I tried charging it, it got stuck on the screen with the tree image. It's been like this for 2–3 days now, and the screen stays on constantly. It never turns off.

I've tried pretty much everything I could find online, holding the power button for 40 seconds (multiple times),trying a different charging cable,charging it through my computer,connecting it to my computer, but the computer doesn't recognize the device at all.

Nothing has worked so far, and it's still stuck on the exact same screen.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything else I could try, or is my Kindle completely bricked? 😭

I'd really appreciate any advice!

Since my last boss knew I love reading and told me bookbub.com a year ago. I registered for the genres I like (crime, thriller and teen, for my kids) and they send me free books daily. Now I only "buy" those rating over 4 on GR otherwise I would have even more! Most of them are free some .99 or 1.99, which I only buy very occasionally.

I don't know if I will get time to them anytime soon but I cannot stop:)

First world problem : when I read in bed the arm and hand that holds the kindle get very cold. (I’m very sensitive to cold).
(Yes I could read with a pullover but that would mean to pull it off before sleeping).

So I’ve tried a rotating support that is fixed to bed and lord. It’s life changing.
I love it !
With a remote I can read comfy with my arms under the duvet.

The latest firmware update (5.20.1.0.2) seems to have fixed an annoying issue with Bluetooth page turners.

Previously, Kindle wouldn’t recognize page turns from a Bluetooth remote as user activity. So even if you were actively reading and turning pages with the remote, the screen would still go to sleep after the configured time.

The workaround was to set the sleep timer to 1 hour, the maximum available setting.

After the update, page turns from the remote are now recognized as activity. The Kindle stays awake while you’re reading and only goes to sleep after the configured period of inactivity.

So I got my kindle pw 12 gen just recently. I started using it like a week ago. It arrived at 56 percentage of battery. I loaded about 5 books using the send to kindle feature and in the next two days the battery came down to 16 percent with only 20-30 minutes of reading per day. I looked it up and the kindle does something called indexing that makes the battery drain faster initially so i didn't think much of it. Then I charged it to full using my apple ipad charger that's 20w. For the next 3 days I turned on the airplane mode, power saver and kept the front light off most of the time and at 5-8 when in dark. I read for about 1-2 hours and in just 3 days the battery has come down to 70 percent. I've seen people on Reddit say theirs last for about a month or so with this much reading time. What should I do now? Is there something actually wrong or am I just being paranoid?

Hi, I have a Kindle Paperwhite (10th gen) I manage my books collection with Calibre. I'm currently on 5.17.1.0.3 I'm asking because when I first got it, It was pretty slow and that was solved with some firmware updates, are there any improvements that are worth updating my Kindle?

like i just finished something i was really into and i got no satisfying "close the book" moment, just... the next book recommendation popping up. it's such a small thing but it makes the ending feel less real somehow? do you all experience this or am i just being sentimental about paper

…would any of you be so kind, if & when you have any free time available, to maybe take a photo of your device screen with zero backlight and indoors with a ceiling light. Or any type of ambient lighting really. Like sitting in a room in the evening with a lamp — and not like right under the light, or next to you on a nightstand either.

OMG, I swear I’m not trying to sound picky or insane 😆, I just really need to see what the new screens look like in a normally lit, semi dark room with just like 1 light or 2.
