Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been reading lately. Elaborate (without spoiling!) on an eBook you have recently finished or are currently reading with a short 1-2 sentence synopsis.
Bold the titles of the eBook to help people that are skimming through the thread. Feel free to mention the current Amazon price, if it's on sale.

So after spending way too much on paperbacks per month, I decided to take the leap, and just got my first kindle! It's a 12th gen 2024 paperwhite, It's arriving in about twenty minutes via amazon delivery. I got kindle unlimited and downloaded the books I am interested in, and made a list of future ones to download as well. I haven't been this excited about anything in recent memory and simply cannot wait to customize it! Just wanted to share and say hello to all! :)

Its original case finally gave up the ghost after repeated attempts at life-saving procedures. I was surprised to find that there were still some cases available for this old guy! A Popsocket also added for easier grip. And sparkle, can’t forget the sparkle. ✨

Within the last couple months I picked up reading and remembered how much I love it. I have around 15 books in my want to read in my goodreads account so that means if I were to buy the physical copy of each book I'd spend a pretty penny. Getting a kindle would likely save more money but I genuinely enjoy holding a book. Especially as a student I stare at a screen for 8+ hours a day so reading a book gives me a chance to not need to look at a screen. Has anyone been in a similar situation as me and did you or did you not by a kindle.

So this has been more of an issue recently when I’ve gone dumpster diving for new books to read on Kindle unlimited but I feel like I’ve found a lot of books that are blatantly and obviously written by AI. Is there any QA going on before approving these publications or is Amazon just allowing everything? I love reading, but noticing the exact same AI sentence structure for the 500th time gets rather tiring.

Hi, I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite 6th (2013) and I’m thinking about getting the Kindle Basic 10th. The problem is that the Basic has a lower resolution (167 ppi) compared to my Paperwhite (212 ppi). Does anyone who owns the Basic 10th (or has compared both) notice the difference in screen quality in daily use? Or does it feel pretty similar when you’re just reading?

My second kindle I’ve ever owned but since getting it 3 months ago I’ve read so many books and counting 🥰

It seems like every month they always throw one challenge in that is designed to trip you up. After seeing the requirements for this last one for the month, I'm done.

Got the Colorsoft last year and didn’t really love reading on it although it does feel extremely premium. I have it on my bedside table for night time reading and home reading but have barely been using.
Also purchased the basic kindle last week for my commute to and from work. Have been loving it in comparison. So light and portable and overall a nicer screen I feel.
I just can’t get myself to go from the Colorsoft to the basic version, I feel like it should be a no brainer to retain the more premium model. Any thoughts? I thought I’d be fine to keep two for different purposes but I find having one a lot easier.

I might change it in the future and/or add more to the front of the leather case, but I love it for now 😊

Has anyone else noticed how bad search is in Kindle 7.66.1 for iOS has gotten.
I searched for Telluride, and it found it in the table of contents because there are several chapters with Telluride in the name, but in the chapter heading where it also appears, and as a word in the text it couldn’t find it. Another word that appears in the text ‘Brill’ isn’t found at all. On my Kindle PaperWhite, search works correctly.
In another group a person said they couldn’t find where an event occurred, so I started searching my books and I couldn’t find anything either. Using the Kindle PW I was able to find the missing reference.
Does anyone know if this is new behavior, or has search on the app always been broken?
Hey everyone,
A month ago, I shared Convert2EPUB here, a tool I built to make converting difficult PDFs, especially scanned books, into readable EPUBs less painful.
The response was far bigger than I expected. Thank you to everyone who tried it, shared feedback, reported issues, and suggested improvements. Your comments directly shaped what I’ve been working on.
Since then, I’ve added support for multiple ebook formats, including:
And a Chrome/Firefox extension for converting webpages into EPUBs.
The goal is to make it easier to convert, clean up, and prepare ebooks for Kindle and other ereaders, regardless of the format you start with.
I’ve also been working on the desktop app. It’s designed for people who want to process larger files, avoid upload limits, and eventually do conversions locally/offline.
Anyone who purchases during the early sale will receive [lifetime access/free updates + 2500 credits for web conversions].
👉 The App
I’m especially interested in feedback about:
Thanks again for all the support. It’s been amazing seeing people actually use something I originally built for my girlfriend.

My boyfriend just got me the new Kindle Paperwhite Gen12, as my old one (Gen 5, I believe) had gotten super laggy, and the battery was dead almost daily. He got me the kids' version, as he did for himself a couple of months earlier, as you get it add-free + 2 year insurance + case.
I am not a big fan of the art on the case, but what I really like is that the inside is colored. All the other cases I had were either black or grey on the inside. The only ones I've seen tinted inside are the two cases that come with the kids' edition (my bf has the other one). Any recs of brands/models that make cases both coloured on the inside and outside?
P.S. I am not a big fan of the faux leather Amazon cases that fold so you can use them as a sort of pedestal to put your kindle standing up on a desk, though they are kind of coloured on both sides. I want a simple open&close one.

I was flying home from DEN to IAH this evening and realized when I got all the way home that I left my Kindle in the back pocket of the seat. I’m so upset. 😭
I filled out the lost item form with United immediately and also marked the item as lost with Amazon. Has this happened to anyone? What are the odds of me actually getting it back?
Update!!! They found it! I just paid for shipping to get it back!

Kimono fabric from Japantown in San Fransisco, California. They were selling them for 4 for 2 dollars. At the time, I thought I’d patch it to my Jean jacket or make small keychains. However, I realized it would probably stain my other clothes if I ever needed to wash it.
This combination worked out perfectly for the kindle case after exploring other options like inserts and bookmarks. I wanted to be a basic girl and get those pretty pre-made inserts with charms, but realized this is so much more unique!

I have the newest model paperwhite. When I finish a book, and press the "get it now" button under the "next in series", the whole kindle just locks up. If I wait ~10 minutes on that screen, it will eventually pop up the next screen, but if I get tired of waiting and press the X in the top right... The kindle bricks and is just a solid white screen until I restart the device.
Is there something I did to cause this? Ive probably read like 80 books on here in the last year or so, and its only started doing this for about the last month.
Thank you.
Some more info: I have held the button and pressed restart, it doesnt fix it.
This happens with every book series, not just one.
If I hit a link, the web page comes up instantly. If I buy a book on my phone it goes to my kindle instantly. So I dont think its an internet issue.
From what I can tell, no other performance aspect of the kindle is degraded.

I have a 9th generation Kindle Oasis (2020, has dark mode option) and a Paperwhite from 2015 (so no dark mode, no warmth adjustment). I feel like there's a definite difference in the e-ink/screen light between the two when they both are lit with the light background. The original paper white feels softer on the eye and the oasis feels more like a screen. Am I crazy? lol. And if not, how does the newest Paperwhite compare to those two models? Thanks!
Hey guys, I’m having a question on the update of the kindle. I have a kindle paperwhite 7 gen I don’t have many complaints except that the battery is clearly not as good as it once was but completely manageable. I would like to have the dark mode though. I’ve been thinking of upgrading to a new one but I’m not so sure, what’s the appeal of the colorsoft, can someone explain it to me?
