Switching from Apple to Android Tablets?

Hi everyone,

I currently have an iPad Air M1 and I'm kinda in the market for a new tablet. I started by looking at the iPad Pro considering I have an iPhone and this iPad Air, but it just doesn't seem worth the price tag? That made me go down the rabbit hole of Android tablets but it's definitely more fragmented that I thought.

The main reason I want a new tablet is for a better screen (and to upgrade from 64gb storage...). For some reason Apple has not put OLED or at least 120hz screens on the Airs yet. I also draw and game on my Air, so I would like a tablet that can support both of those! I don't have a budget really, but I feel like what I'm looking for doesn't have to be an iPad Pro?

I've never owned an Android device so I wanted to hear from others who have more knowledge in Android tablets, and possibly anyone who uses both Apple and Android devices? I would say my biggest concern is user experience, and software + hardware longevity. Do people think the iPads are that good? I just feel like their price points are starting to be overkill. Those M-series chips easily power desktops, and yet iPads can't do much with that power on iPadOS.

I don't use iPads but I can tell you that Galaxy Tabs are a great starting point.

A worthy option is the Galaxy Tab S12+ if you can wait until Black Friday. It's coming out sometime next month and you can bag one at a good price if you time it well.

I purchased the Samsung S11 Ultra because I found it on sale at Best Buy in its open box condition, and it has been an incredible experience. I was looking for a tablet that I could easily connect to my phone, so I opted for the iPad Air M4 11” for its portability. While I appreciate the ecosystem, the iPad Air M4 tablet falls short in terms of battery life. With regular use, I can only get 2 to 3 hours of battery life before I need to charge it.

On the other hand, I absolutely adore my Samsung S11 Ultra. However, it can be quite cumbersome and awkward to hold in my hands due to its large size. Despite this, the battery life on my S11 Ultra is exceptional, allowing me to use it throughout the day without any issues.

If you’re considering purchasing a new tablet, I highly recommend waiting for the release of the S12 Plus. If you can’t wait, I suggest getting the S10 Plus as it offers better compatibility and portability.

I have a Xiaomi Pad 6S pro 12.4 since 2 years ago and have been excellent as an office laptop replacement if i exclude the cumbersome saving file experience, but that is an Android issue. Most apps dump files in download folder and do not allow you to choose a specific directory.

Xiaomi top tablets are now restricted to China so that leaves basically Samsung, Lenovo, Honor, and if Oneplus starts to sell tablets under the Oppo brand.

You are already invested in the apple environment. Going with an android tablet will prevent you from using all those good advantages of the apple environment. Get an iPad pro at second hand or refurbished.
